hello dear, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video. I was always ashamed that I cannot cook. I recently got married and now pregnant. I crave for jollof rice which I buy from restaurants. As the Lord had it I stumbled on yr video. I watched it. It was so easy to follow.I went out and bought ingredients. Today I cooked step by step with you. And my jollof came out perfect. I felt the Lord tell me I am now free from the stigma and lie that I cannot cook. May God richly bless you in Jesus Name. Thank you

babymel Busy Hello, you are very welcome, not a problem at all. I'm so glad you were able to follow the video and it came out great! Jollof rice can be tricky to make and you did it and it came out great so u definitely can cook! Don't mind anyone, just keep on cooking, it's your kitchen so just go to town and experiment lol. If you don't like how something tastes change it till you get your desired result. And congratulations on your blessings and blessings to come! People will celebrate with you and your family very soon. Wishing you a safe and successful rest of your pregnancy. God bless you. Keep cooking, nothing do u :) 😄😘💪🏾 xx

+Dainty God's Child yes oh it is very very funny...especially when you consider how many women out there can cook so well but still cannot find a good husband and someone like me was blessed with a loving husband who knew I couldn't cook even before paying my bride price. I guess that tells you that there is more to marriage than food. Marriage is a learning journey, some learn patience in the journey, forgiveness, tolerance, how to talk, how to save money, and some learn how to cook in the same journey. There is no situation that is hopeless with God my dear mocking christian, the only situation that is hopeless is those who have died and gone to hellfire. .God bless you.

So basically, 4 mugs = 6 cups (by imperial U.S. measure?) The mug you're using appears to be a standard 12 oz. mug, so 4 × 12oz = 48oz, and 48oz ÷ 8oz (U.S. cup) = 6 cups. I'll try it and hope for the best. I'll give my results some time next week, when I go grocery shopping. 😁😁😁 EDIT: I FINALLY was able to get the ingredients, and yes, 4 mugs DOES equal 6 cups. This recipe is easily halved, so I made it with less. Also, 3/4 of the puree tube she used equals 3/4 cup. This recipe was SO delicious!! I added grilled boneless chicken thighs, seasoned with Aromat and a little salt. This is DEFINITELY a keeper!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Jollof rice is not Nigerian at all. It dirives from Ouolof which is the dominant Senegalese ethnical group. What you call Jollof rice is actually the local national dish and is called Thiebu dien, with its meat 'variant 'called Thiebu yapp, meaning fried rice with fish/meat. Just go google it. This being said, there nothing bad in customizing things: it's about being creative

So i just finished making this. I just had a taste. Wow is all i have to say. I'm a Male Polynesian and have no history at all with this meal. I've recently seen videos on how much African Men love it etc. I've seen music videos of it, dance videos of it. There are just a lot of videos i've seen on it i had to find out what it is like. I'm sure many people will say "Oh this isn't real Jollof Rice" bla bla and that's understandable. But regardless, i know why this meal is popular. I cooked this myself, tasted it the first time and it already tastes bomb. I can only imagine how much more delicious it is when cooked by someone that loves you. Holy shit haha Keep my tummy full with this and i'll be a happy man haha. Thanks for the recipe Ivonne i will keep this now.

@sylviasworld993
@sylviasworld993 7 лет назад
Adam Churvis ok but it's also usual for people to boil the rice first (but not cook it) let it cool then cook it again with the stew to make jolloff. I and many people I know do that.
@simplynaa
@simplynaa 7 лет назад
It is called raw rice from the shop, simples. Whatever happened to it in the factory before getting to the shop is not part of the cooking method. The term 'parboiled' will just confuse others. People will understand it to mean Uncle Ben's rice. It is not. This is raw hard rice from the shop.

I thought I’d come and give this food some credit!! You’ve given me a good reputation, since I tried it the first time I realised it was nice and so made it for my brother in laws birthday and everybody was commenting! I’m a uk white lady so African dishes aren’t my natural forte but my jollof rice came out better then my sister in laws, I gave her your recipe too. I initially thought it would lack in depth as no curry no meat water and you didn’t even boil off the tomato before frying! I will say thank you, have now served it at a large bbq event and it turned heads lol I can now cook many dishes but I guess the traditional jollof rice gets all the Nigerian men and women in the party mood 🙂 Thanks for your help!! Chizoba Ikejiaku hey 👋🏽, i’ve had the version with long grain made many times by friends and at parties; I don’t tend to enjoy it as much as basmati. Basmati rice has always been my preffered choice for any rice dish ,I think it has a nicer flavour and fluffier texture.
