i dont have any bags on my tunnel so i tend to stack snow along the sides and it will cool it down quite efficiently aswell

I'm just getting into this sport and really _do not_ understand this. Why would a vehicle, designed to operate in frozen temperatures, designed to operate in ice (snow _is_ just ice), overheat???? Poor design? Bad riding habits? Can I expect my new '05 Polaris RMK 700 151" to overheat despite having *3* radiators/heat exchangers? I guess it's a good thing my new sled has brand new ice scratchers installed. FFS, my motorcycles (dirt bike, dual sport or street) don't overheat unless it's a *scorcher* outside and I'm crawling on the trail or through traffic. I can get the CRF450X to start spitting coolant easy and fast, but those bikes have notoriously under-sized cooling systems and require an aftermarket fan for slow riding.

These sleds are made to climb mountains and steep hills, therefore made as light as possible. The sleads have enough cooling to keep a good and stable temperature in deeper snow, but in the trail there is usually not enough snow getting thrown up into the tunnel where the radiator is. So basically its made for mountains an offtrail riding and doesn't have good enough cooling for the trails. Ice scrapers is a good investment to manage the overheating in trail rides.

@@n1ckeu678 I didn't really expect one, but thanks for the reply! Sounds like these are akin to race bikes or MX bikes where the cooling systems at (really any) speed keep them running well, but aren't meant to sit around and idle like a street bike. I hope I didn't buy the wrong sled for what I end up using it for, but from what I read the RMK 700 is kind of like the dual sport of the snowmobile world. Goes almost anywhere and runs just about forever, rarely physically breaks unless you bash it really hard. Looking forward to my trip out tomorrow for sure.

I have not ridden a skidoo turbo yet, i personally dont like the skidoos and their steering. I want to do a head to head this season though.
