How to correctly fly a flag (with an internal halyard flagpole)

What keeps it up? You didn't mention anything about a cleat or a locking device to stop it from falling

We used to have flag raising ceremonies every friday when i was in primary school. It was wrapped up in a neat bundle, raised up to the top end and released up top. Our flag had the union jack on the top left corner of the flag since we used to be a colony of GB. Can someone send me link as to how this is done please?

I have a similiar flagpole with the same counterweight but the flag still wraps around the pole all the time , really frustrating :(
