PEX is widely used by DIYers and Plumbers. Knowing the best practices for roughing a bathroom or kitchen is a must know. In this video we will cover how to proper stub out PEX.

Copper stub outs for sure. Then sweat a female 1/2 or 3/4" thread so you can use the screw in stop valves. Will just make it easier for you in the long run and for anyone who assumes the place in the future. With pex, you would most likely have to make a cut back if you needed to change out a bad valve. Once that gets too short you are going to have to knock out some drywall to remove and install another length of pex. Same thing with a compression fitting unless you have a compression ring removal tool. Just sweat it and forget it.

Im installing a vintage style wall mount faucet with the mixing done in the faucet itself, no mixing valve inside the wall. Whats the best way to stub out a conversion from pex to the wall mounted faucet?

Copper stub outs is the best and most professional job. Looks good and you don't have to concern yourself with putting an insert stiffener in each one. Kinda feels like a sharkbite solution to me....However any of the above is doable .

Or you can use two 90 degree conduit elbows for about $1.50 each . Just cut to size , mount to 2x4 ,feed pex inside . You can do both sides for 1/3 the cost of 1 of these copper stub outs .

@@orionred2489 This is a weird ass comment since code doesn't even require a bend support other than a hole for the pex to pass through . A 90 degree conduit elbow offers more support that an open faced pex bend support or bracket.

This is the RIGHT way to install PEX. Notice the sweeps, no elbows! This creayes nice even flow of water. Elbows create turbulance which restricts water flow, and also requires two more crimps or connections which are more points for failure. Less is best!

PEXRite Turn out PEX 90 degree supports (purple color) and support brackets are by far the best option I have found. I prefer to stub out the PEX and not have any coupling in the wall.

yeah but the problem is that copper stub outs now are not lasting more then 8 years before then fail we have bad copper now.

Informative video, but I have to say that at around 1:42 of the video, the clamps seem to be very flimsy and it looks like the added 2 thicknesses of the metal hanger, the clamp base, and the screw head would make the sheetrock bow out noticeably. Why would the hanger not be made to be recessed to allow for an installation that's flush to the front of the stud?

Make sure to use drywall screws that you can’t screw all the way in as the heads may break off. This makes for great fun for the drywall guy as he will surely encounter blowouts

Method 4 is to use a 90 degree elbow and THEN affix the PEX to the wall, coming out at the perfect angle -- this is no different than the 90 degree copper for water flow. When the water line need to continue past the stub-out, you use a Tee. This is the method I used, just put Durarock over it, worked like a charm. :)

you are requires to use isolators on pex though studs.

I saw a video where the hot and cold faucets had been connected backwards because the plumbers connected the hot water to c for caliente. I don't know if that is a true story because I don't know what the H would be in Spanish. True or not, it's a funny story.
