This is a great tutorial, but why in 2023 is it SO HARD to create a basic visualizer when we had them in 1998? I just want to be able to QUICKLY create a visualizer for social media posts. I'm not against spending time and creating a template, but the whole WAV to MIDI conversion kills it, because it's not practical to do for hundreds of social media posts.
This is not the optimal way to do, it's just a trick. Check the method with the Reactor plugin that's better. I just wanted to demonstrate the functionality built in
I remember there was this plugin that I used where you just dumped the audio and it's done for you. Shouldn't be too hard to find. But to imitate this style, I'm unsure.
I found that I could use the Color Dodge opacity mode to make it so I could have the waveforms vsibile on top of a video. Great tutorial! No wasted time!
@@adarshbahadur3686 Go to the edit tab and select the fusion composition. In the inspect menu Enable composite and choose the composite mode as color dodge.
@@adarshbahadur3686 Hey, I know it's been a while since you commented but I found out how to do it. Go back to the fusion page, select Background1 and in its color settings change the Alpha slider to 0 (located underneath the RGB) sliders
This video would have been 10/10 if you had mentioned about the MIDI conversion FIRST. I've already cut and edited the audio prior to knowing about that. Now I have to start from scratch again. Overall, I'm glad I've found this video.
Thanks this is the first thing i did on DaVinci Resolve. I learned a lot from this video i actually was able to so some things by myself. Very Straight-forward. I subscribe
I was thinking to use this technique to apply a certain effect on beats of the music. Like a slight 0.1 zoom when the song goes boom boom boom, rather than keyframing all the zooms. Let's see if I can make up something of this idea. Nice video.
There's few more trick and expression to use to make it look good depending on what you try to achieve. I'll make soon a video on how to apply this effect on a logo for example
I'll come back when I have a degree in computer engineering. For the time being I'll export the audio and use one of those simple web-based apps. Thank you very much.
just wanted to say thank you for making this video, and it is working very well for me, even though i am just a beginner with davinci, and i changed the colours of the first background to give it a more individual touch, i also wanted to ask you whether you could make a video about how to upload a video in the first background, a picture or animated picture, coz could not find it
Exactly, converted the file to Midi, selected the file, and NOTHING happens - With this vital step not working, the project is a total bust.. Any ideas VES?
Awesome video which was easy to follow and contained just the right level of detail! Do you know if it possble to have a static visualiser (i.e. no scroll)?
Not the best, but all audio works. It's easier to see with music, because it's usually always doing something, but with VO, sometimes there's a lull, intentional or not.
I'm trying to follow your tutorial but my davinci resolve seems to have a big problem with the fusion page. To modify one parameter of the rectangle in the fusion page, the rendering of the playback image take 15 seconds. Hao have you managed to have such a quickly preview of your changes?
It's just something I played around with a while back but after trying to use it in multiple scenarios it seems like there's a bunch of random problems with it unfortunatly
@@VideoEditorStudio I quess it must be a problem with differente framerate for the fusion animation, and the timeline. But I have no idea how to fix this.
@@lekcjareligiipl offhand, i would suggest it's the midi conversion. midi is a musical sequencing format, so it works against a tempo/bpm. my guess is its picking a bpm for you, and then trying to map the chunks to that alignment. the longer the audio, the more obvious those kind of errors will be as it accumulates
Great video! I got what I needed out of it and with some tweaking it was exactly how I liked it. One thing though, when trying to put this on top of another video/background, it wouldn't be visible. The visualizer had it's own black background. Is there any way to get rid of that? (More likely, I missed a step haha)
You probably have a background node with the Alpha channel at 1 instead of 0, resulting in a black background, just bring it down to 0 and you'll get transparency
Thank you for your tutorial. Im having problems trying to insert this into a video I've prepared as the background. There are no tutorials about this, everybody does it with a black background. I've tried to figure it out myself and it the exports just come out blank. I feel like this is probably an easy step, but I'm too stupid and frustrated to understand. Please help.
Very helpful tutorial but the render time is extremly long, is there a way to fix that? Normaly a video to render takes for a 10min video it takes only few minutes to render, but this audio visualizer with 10min length takes like 4 hours. Do you need a strong graphics card to render fusion visuals? Because I only have an on-board graphic.
I don't understand your question, the stick are not moving but changing length which give an illusion of the wave form moving. But yeah you can feed that midi signal to different parameter and therefore get all sort of results
Thank you for your response! : ) Yeah i meant the illusion, but i think it might be different then the waveform since every stick would move separately vertically and not in then waveform from right to left ,a good example is this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--YIWtW9ekiA.html Do you think you could make a video for that?
@@VideoEditorStudio Thank you! Would be awesome to see : ) I found it also very impressive to see how good it can react to the music,it tend more to the left site but it still looks very dynamic, haven´t seen something like that yet
im getting extreme lag when I adjust the offset even a bit. And in my timeline it doesn't playback smoothly. I lowered my timeline resolution and turned on fusion cache
Thanks for this bro! Wanted to ask if I have multiple audio, do I just duplicate the fusion in the edit section and change just the midi file or do I need to create a new fusion for each song?
It's weird I'm not exactly sure what's going on. I'm on the Studio version and I still have it but this morning a member of the team that is on the free version can't find it anymore. We've deleted and re-install and now it seems to work
I would recommend using another technics for stuff like this, the plug in from "We suck Less" allow you to do it without a midi file. That would be probably better in your case. Just look for another tutorial most visualizer tuto are using this instead (I just wanted to share a native way to do it in resolve)
