How to Create and Setup a Virtual Hard Disk on Windows 10 

In this video I explain how to create and setup a virtual hard disk on Windows 10. Sometimes the user needs to add a virtual hard disk to store the data in a separate drive away from the main drives. A virtual hard disk (VHDX or VHD) is a file that can use a ".vhdx" or ".vhd" extension and act as a physical hard disk, but with the difference that this is a file stored on a physical disk. With either of the two formats (.vhdx or .vhd) of a virtual drive, you can store any files, including documents, images, videos, boot files, and the entire operating system installation. The only differences between the two formats are that the .vhdx file supports a maximum size of 64 TB, is resilient against power outages, and offers better performance. A VHD is usually useful for adding additional storage to a Hyper-V virtual machine, and thanks to its ability to support installations of other operating systems, you can even use storage virtualization technology to create a dual boot system without modifying an existing partition.
