Christmas has come and gone, but I'm still smiling thinking of all the beautiful twinkling lights we get to see at that time of the year. So, for this painting, I felt like using bright and bold colors that remind me of colourful lights . And, I thought it would be also a great time to practice my version of neurographic art.

Here’s a list of the materials I used for this painting: (***I now have the ability to monetize my site. This means I can include links to the products I use and when you make a purchase using these links, I will get a small commission. You won't pay extra for doing this and you will help me earn a little bit of money along the way, so I can continue doing this work. Please note that I will only ever add links to products that I actually like and use. Thanks in advance!***)

I have that same pen fitted with a converter for waterproof ink and it is very balky. I was surprised to see yours go so smoothly onto the paper.
@gabrielleannacormierart
@gabrielleannacormierart 10 месяцев назад
I use mine a lot and though it works well for the most part, at times it gets a little finicky for me too. When the ink isn’t flowing quite as well as I’d like it to, I either scribble on a piece of paper and will even dip the tip in water if it needs an extra little nudge. I then wipe it on my paper towels and then it is usually good to go. ☺️ Watercolors are still soluble even when they are dry on the paper and so it is normal that our pens get a bit clogged up. I hope this helps! Thank you for making the time to connect ☺️

Loving your version of neurographic art. It is so pleasing and relaxing to watch. And your narration complements the creating process. Got to love Kremer's golds. I'm not very much into metallic watercolors but Kremer's metallics, especially the golds, are stunning. I don' know how they do it but they are among the best.

Hi Gabrielle. Thanks for another calming, mindful painting video. I am going to ask the very beginner question. I am relatively new to watercolor painting, and am using the most basic of watercolor sets (think grammar school :-) Could you recommend a solid set of colors and the how to buy them? I mean, do I use them from tubes, or find a container like yours with all the little pans? Did you build your color combo from various types of paint tubes? As you can see i am starting from scratch, and rather than buy all kinds of junk, I'd like to build a good set. Can you direct me? If this is too long a question, please let me know and we'll perhaps email. Thank you.
@gabrielleannacormierart
@gabrielleannacormierart Год назад
Hi Jane ❤️ It's always so lovely to hear from you and I am happy to help! You will certainly see quite a difference when you move from using your basic student grade watercolors to higher quality paints. It can be a bit expensive to build your collection, but they usually do last quite a while. I prefer to buy tubes paints (depending on the paint brand) that I then put in a pan and work with them when they are dry. This way I can build my palette with the colors I love and want to use the most frequently. Just as an FYI, I list all of the products and color names I used to make my paintings in my video descriptions. If by chance some of the colors I am using strike your fancy, you can easily get their name in my video description (or if I forgot to list one, please just reach out to me and I will gladly share). There are so many paint colors and brands to choose from and it can get a bit overwhelming. To be very honest, when I first started out myself, I bought relatively inexpensive paint sets that were recommended by other artists as well. This way, I was able to experiment with a variety of colors without breaking the bank (so to speak). Probably my favorite (relatively inexpensive) sets are from Watercolor Confections by Prima Collection. I own the Decadent Pies, Vintage Pastels and Shimmering Lights sets and I find them to be creamy and easy to work with. There are so many other sets and though I haven't tried all the other ones, I could easily recommend this brand for affordability and product quality. I also own a Mungyo set that I love with a nice assortment of colors. Once I got comfortable playing with these sets, I moved on to experimenting with watercolors in tubes (Daniel Smith and Winsor & Newton). They are a little more expensive but not too crazy. If you paint with the color straight from the tube, you will get much more pigment and maybe in that sense, it can be a bit harder to control how much pigment you use. Ultimately, I prefer to pour my tube paints in pans and these can be bought separately (when I first looked for empty pan sets, they seemed so expensive, but then I found one by Arteza that I found reasonably priced). And of course, now I'm exploring with Kremer paints and I am LOVING them. They are much more expensive, but I am so happy with them. I still love my less expensive paints, but I hardly ever turn to my student grade paints any more unless I am playing with my nieces. ☺️ I recommend you start small and build up as you play and experiment. This way you will discover the paints and colors you love the most and slowly but surely build your collection. I hope all of this is helpful! Please don't hesitate to reach out again if you need more info. ☺️❤️ Thank you for watching and for making the time to connect!

They sell online in North America and in some countries in Europe, but I do not know if they ship where you live. If they don't, I also really love this little palette of golds by CSY Art Gallery: amzn.to/3Qsi5qH. It's less expensive than Kremer Pigments, but all the golds in this palette are beautiful. ❤️ I especially love the 24 K Merck Gold. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching! ☺️
