How to Crochet a Book Sleeve 

How to crochet a book sleeve? In this quick and easy crochet pattern, I show you how to crochet a sleeve for a book using the shell stitch.

Shell Stitch Book Sleeve Crochet Pattern:
Materials:
Crochet Hook: G/6/4.25MM
Yarn: Size 4, Medium Weight, 100% Recycled Cotton & Polyester Blend Yarn by Lion Brand Yarns Re-Up, Color: Full Moon
Button, Toggle Button, or Crochet Button.

Attach yarn to crochet hook using a slip knot.
Row 1: CH 25, turn.
Row 2: Skip the 1st 2 cH st, then working in the BACK LOOPS ONLY, place 1 DC in the remaining stitches in the row (23 total DC + CH 2). Turn work toward the starting tail, and working in the FRONT LOOPS ONLY from Row 1, place 1 DC in each FRONT LOOP. This will create a spiral oval with 47 DC + CH 2.
Row 3: Skip the CH 2 and the next 3 DC st, then working in the GAP between the 3rd & 4th DC, place 4 DC. *Skip the next 4 DC then place 4 DC in the gap between the 4th & 5th DC.* Repeat this pattern around the row. When you get to the end of the row, skip the last 4 DC st, then work in the gap between the 1st DC of the 1st SHELL st and the last DC of the row.
Rows 4 - 18: Skip the 1st SHELL st (this is your first clump of 4 DC), then place 4 DC in the gap between the SHELL st. The pattern should still be a spiral, so we are just going to repeat this pattern until we are close to running out of our skein of yarn (if following the gift bundle series), or until we have 15 rows of SHELL stitches.
Row 19: Continue to work the SHELL st pattern until you make it to the center of the natural folds. To crochet the loop, place 2 of the DC in the center-most SHELL st, then CH 30. Work the last 2 DC of the SHELL st to join the loop, then place SHELL stitches like normal until you make it to the other natural fold. In the last SHELL st before the fold, place 4 SC instead of 4 DC. Place 1 SL st in the next st, then cut and tie off yarn.
