This is the starting round for most amigurumi. Magic ring with 6sc.
In this video I will show you how to make a slip knot without using a hook. How to make a cinch circle also known as a magic ring and how to put 6 single crochets into the ring. I also show you how to start the 2nd row.

Oh yay! The original magic ring was always a pain for her so i never used it. This is how i make my skip knot so all I need to do is grab that starting yarn and create my loop! I am excited about this. Lol. I am finishing up the remembrance day bear today for a Christmas gift and then I am patiently waiting for the release of the snow bear! Have a great weekend!

All the small tips you give while doing this is really helpful for me as a beginner. For example, “Make sure you go through both loops unless the pattern says otherwise”. I just made my first ever crochet project entirely in just the back loop and was wondering why it didn’t look as neat 😂

Thanks very much, Sharon. I never understood the magic ring instructions given by others, but you have made this very clear. I see how it helps to lock the stitches in place much better. Offering the extra detail of crocheting the tail into one’s work will be a huge benefit to those new to crochet. It took me a couple years before it dawned on me how much more quickly doing this is rather than tucking the tail(s) in last, which is so time consuming. I wish I had a teacher like you when I was learning. I learned crochet from the little booklet that also teaches knitting, tatting and embroidery. But hands-on with a patient instructor is always better. Thanks again! Many blessings to you and yours. 👍 😊 💕

your comment went straight to my heart, thank you so much. It's truly my hope to make things as clear and simple as possible. It's hard to learn a new craft, I remember learning how to crochet and how frustrating it can be. Yes, those yarn tails are always a bit of a pain, lol it's nice to bury them along the way!

I've made a couple of these and having fun learning. A needle threader works well to thread yarn through button holes. I used two different buttons for eyes. Two large white buttons and two smaller black buttons on top sewn together. Wish I could send a picture.

I'm sorry about my other comment, I will take it down. I crochet because it's the cleanest hobby and excellent for working in bed. My daughter is insisting I make amarugi. I don't get the increasing and decreasing. Thank you very much for understanding. Eileen

no worries at all, I'm not offended by the comment. I understand the toll that illness can take. In 2016 I was struck suddenly with an unknown auto immune disease, one that attacks my major organs including my heart. I was bed ridden in a hospital for almost 3 months while every specialist in our city saw me. I had congestive heart failure, my left lung collapsed, my liver wasn't functioning right. It was the scariest and saddest thing I ever went through. To this day I do not have an actual diagnosis, just "auto immune". A year later while on a bunch of medications, including steroids, I ended up getting diagnosed with ulcerative colitis as well and had more time in the hospital. Today I am symptom free thanks to a new medication. I have to take infusions every 8 weeks. My recent check up was good but I have to remain on the infusions for 4 more years, as long as they keep working. I'm okay with that as long as I can live my life. I am getting stronger all the time, almost back to normal. It's been a rough 2-3 years. Being weak can cause a person to also get depressed, that's totally normal.. I had depression for a few months too. It can make us lash out or be sad and angry, it's all part of chronic illness. It is hard and frustrating to be sick, I understand that completely. I wish you peace and strength to get through this time in your life. Picking up a hobby, if you are able to do one, is an excellent way to cope! I encourage you to keep trying. This weekend I will be working on my next video, it'll be more for the beginner.. I can comment back when it's ready to view. It might be a good video for you as it will explain increasing and decreasing. I'll keep you posted. Take care xo

@@SharonOjala I really like the tutorial without the hook. It's easier for me. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm very glad you are feeling better. My rheumatologist wanted to put me on a biologic years ago. There was a problem with my insurance not paying, very expensive. Great it's working well for you!! Perhaps I'll talk with my physician about trying to get it again. Thank you again. 💖 Blessings.
@SharonOjala
@SharonOjala 5 лет назад
that slip knot was so hard for me until I did it without the hook. Isn't it funny how our minds work! Now I can do it so easy, lol Yes, talk to your doctor. My doctor had to go through many hoops to get me approved for coverage. It took 3 months of forms and waiting. My infusions are 2,500.00 each! Some companies will pay for you, it's just a matter of a doctor fighting on your behalf. I was also steroid dependent and that made a difference too..I met a few people now with rheumatoid arthritis who come to the clinic same time as me. It does help them. It doesn't hurt to talk to a doctor, maybe even make some calls yourself, find a place that knows about these things and how to make the system work for you. I hope it works out for you, I would be so happy if it did.
