You can custom-dye clothes with tissue paper to create iridescent patterns out of different colors. All you need is Spectra Bleeding Art Tissue, water, white distilled vinegar, gloves, scissors, a spray bottle, a flat surface to work on, something to soak your fabric in, an iron, and, of course, clothing to dye. The tissue paper transfers color almost immediately, so it's best to apply layers of all the colors as quickly as possible.

If this was a poly or nylon garment, the fiber will resist the dye. Natural fibers like cotton rayon even silk will be more vibrant

Cute idea! I wish the colors would stay as vibrant as when she peeled the tissue paper off.

Loolll noooo, it’s going to look tacky.

Then you have to increase or put alot more dye in order to get the right or desired effect /color you want. Simple...

@@vhanessabautista9717 I think it all depends on your skin color. The lighter hues suit her.

@@mikaeltuber9225 I was thinking they could've left the tissue paper on longer for a deeper color, but it doesn't matter because I'll most likely never do this.

This is actually pretty cute imo. I'm not a big fan of the normal tie dye, and I find pastels cute ♥️ I'll have to try this on a a smaller item tho, hopefully it comes out as cute as yours!

I really like the pastel result! I would personally prefer that to traditional tie dye so this is a good hack for me! 🤗❤

i'm confused - wouldn't the colors end up looking muddy when the clothing is washed? i doubt vinegar and ironing are enough to set the dye.

*Hey Insider....You’re doing it wrong!* _Obviously the only way to properly do this, is to line the tissue bits on a tarp(on the ground)- put the wet dress on...and_ *roll across the tissue tarp!!* Duh. 😆❤️

Does the colour stay in when washed? I’m worried this would bleed or fade even when handwashed

Then what happened to the colors when you wash it...?
@triliner254

Well I guess you gotta hand wash it. If you put it into a machine, it's gonna suck the colours dry.

Yeah I’m guessing even hand washed, this dress has at most, 4 uses. 😆 Which I mean, that could be fun if you have the time and wanted a new look every couple weeks. 🤷‍♀️

From a chem background rvrn getting it wet without water would be a risk,if tissue paper/crepe paper gets wet it bleads, same for the dye on another surface, this thing couldn't be washed at all I'm also a biochem engineering student so I can explain it mechanically but figured that would be prefered to the ionising abilities of acetic acid versus standard tap water

No, cotton would be best but even then it probably won't keep the dye after like 2 washes max

@gigilaroux762
@gigilaroux762 11 месяцев назад
It opens the silk molecules to attract and retain the dye.

This is not "iridescent color" coming from tissue paper. It's just color, and any iridescence would only be from the fabric itself.

I do not recommend this, it looks like it will bleed and fade big time. If you want to dye stuff use tie dye, you can do pastels like this easily and without the risk of ruining your other clothes when you wash them. If you do want to do this, USE COTTON FABRICS (or any other natural fabric) Fake materials like polyester won't let the dye adhere at all.
