How to Deactivate Ford MyKey and Get a Spare Key [Best Way]

Turning off Ford MyKey requires an Admin key. What if you only have one key and it has MyKey enabled? 2012 F-150. Followed the steps. Worked flawlessly. I’m seriously impressed. And this saved me HUNDREDS! Note: I used the new key for the button programming and only pushed a button on the new one while in the ignition switch. Never hit the button on the old key. Both fobs work perfect. Hi, it varies depending on the type of simple key programming kit. Some simple key kits can program up to four keys/remotes, while others can program up to eight keys/remotes. After I ordered this but before it arrived, I noticed this works for one VIN only. I had hoped to have it for our family for some years with various cars. Bravo guys! My install went exactly as instructed. Every once in a while a product comes along that you wish the entire world knew about. This is one of them.....Dealer wanted 200.00 for the key and 150.00 to program it. 150.00 to sit in my truck for ten minutes. Where can I apply for that job?

So if I have a non admin key with the mykey turned on and I buy this it will Clear out my key and program the new key and also if I have 2 other keys I bought that I can’t get to work and can’t return will they be able to be programmed to work also ?

Hi John, Our Simple Key Programming Kit can definitely program a spare key as an Admin Key and remove the restrictions associated with being a MyKey. My 2015 FORD Explorer only had the metal key with no chip or fob but would like to get the fob with the lock/unlock buttons, will this kit work for me?

Yes, it should work just fine for you, provided your Explorer came from the factory with a fob to lock/unlock the doors. You'll need to choose between the key fob with lock/unlock only or the one with a rear hatch/truck or remote start buttons, depending on which came form factory. If you are not sure, just make a guess and at least the lock/unlock should work. Here's the page: tomskey.com/pages/ford. It's also strange that you have a plain metal key - that suggests someone in the past did something to bypass the immobiizer (chip) in the key. That's separate from the lock/unlock functions.

@@TomsKeyCompany that’s the problem my Explorer only came with fleet keys since it’s a Police Interceptor Utility, so I have no fobs at all, same key opens and starts it

I recently bought an f150 2012 and had the mykey feature already on from the dealership the truck came with 3 keys only one remote starts the truck the other one works the locks and the last one doesn’t do anything haha what do you suggest to disable the mykey feature ?

If you only have one key that starts the engine and already has MyKey enabled, you can use our kit to make a new admin key so you can disable it. The Programmer might also get your other keys working if they have the correct components inside

Hi there! If you have a key that starts the engine, even if it does not have the remote buttons, we can help you make a spare. But pls note that *Only original remote features will work, regardless of the buttons included in the Keyless Entry Remote. I do have a check engine light on - I've had it checked 3x in past 6 years - each time dealer tells me it's this little fuse to the cigarrette lighter and I haven't gotten that fixed. Ok so there’s 100’s of videos of how to program an extra key. How about if it shows 5 keys out there and you only have 2? I believe someone is using an extra key to get into my truck. Can you erase and reprogram with a different code so only the 2 keys you have will work? Hopefully without getting your truck re keyed..

I have 3 keys, but there are all basic keys. It is a basic vehicle truck. Manual everything, no power locks, mirrors or windows. Just AM FM radio. What can I do now?

Sounds like you can drive your truck and be just fine even if you lose a key! Back to the goods old days when you could just go to the hardware store and get a key copied. Dang thieves ruined that for everyone!

Yeah pretty pissed off because I bought my truck from a dealership and they only gave me one key because it was a used truck. I found out after purchase that it had the my key activation lock on it. They asked for an additional $400 a month later and said if I don't give him the money it will never be deactivated. This is the last time I ever buy a Ford truck

To make it even easier, the optional OBD cable can be purchased, although the programmer itself can be easily connected to your vehicle's computer.
