Hi, I’m Alexandra Potora! My channel is about videos that improve the overall quality of our lives. From Personal Growth, to Relationships, Career and Beauty.... You’ll find a little bit of everything to help make your life even more beautiful and strong, from the inside - out.
I didn’t go to school & don’t carry diplomas to talk about this; I’m just someone who’s gone through a lot.... I’ve been married and divorced in the past, made a lot of money, filed for bankruptcy years later then bounced back again. I came to the United States from Romania by myself and created a life here. I lost friends and family... I’ve struggled with depression, unemployment, failed relationships, weight and body image issues, but I found little ways to cope, to hang on and manage through the adversities.
My videos are a collection of the different things I've learned along the way. I hope some will get to learn from my past mistakes and get inspired by the growth. We are the artists and our lives are the canvas. So whether you’re looking for videos about developing yourself on the inside, developing your relationships, your career, or if you’re interested in skincare or makeup tutorials, you’ll find everything here.
Please subscribe and thanks for checking out my channel. :) I hope you enjoy! goo.gl/Oifgib

I feel like the best way to deal with coworkers is to make sure you look and feel your best. Say hello/good night... walk past them, work hard, be unbothered. You are there for a check.

I have a co-worker that acts like she is nice to me but then I here from other girls that she is talking behind my back. she always picks out things im doing and says they are wrong and i hate going to work now any advice?
@rebeccajimenez6109
@rebeccajimenez6109 6 лет назад
Bayley Middleton this is when you might need to ask questions nd ask what you're doing wrong and ask to correct whatever you're doing wrong. I am always accountable for my mistakes and I want to make sure things are done correct. If they still are reluctant to enlighten them then this might show their toxic thinking by miscommunicaring with you by withholding info so you can't progress. Be proactive and ask what you might need to improve on. If that confrontation doesnt work then manager meeting is the way to go. I am dealing with similar situation at work as an entry level medical receptionist so I am expected to be perfect after 3 weeks. When they handle with so many patients and you need to know which procedure codes and insurance stuff and if they require auth or not. If they go in for an MRI or ct they require special instructions. So many steps when checking patients in that imaging clinic. But the two receptionist girls give me straight attitude when I asked a question. And undermine my knowledge when they decide to quiz me on what they trained me on. Which I only had a day and a half of training as a scheduler tho. That is also hard also because I am bilingual so they need help with spanish patients. I have been talked about as if I werent in the room. Like ok I hear you talk about me and the things I didn't so right. The head receptionist and I already had talked about how wrong I have been dping things but they're the ones who trained me so it's difficult to not take it seriously when you just want to do the job right but someone wants to rain on everyone's parade. I was expecting the patients to be mean and with attitude but I was totally wrong. Do what you can to do a good job at work and remember that what they do is a reflection on their character.
@purrronica
@purrronica 6 лет назад
I have a similar situation but she’s also rude to my (read: everyone’s) face, she’s sort of the black sheep and all the other girls get along. For good reason but I won’t bore you with backstory. Sounds like your friends that are nice enough to let you know she’s backstabbing you, mine told me and I was glad to know they sort of hand by back. A few tactics that I’ve used with like 70% success is to try to remind them that as coworkers you are on the same level, she has no right to critique your work and if it’s an issue it should be taken to management so they can coach you through those mistakes. I also mentioned to her that I know she’s been talking about me behind my back, but she should know well enough that my friends will tell me whatever she’s saying, so next time she can say it to my face. You could also threaten her with going to HR. Actually doing that isn’t something I’ve yet to do but I’ve “threatened” her with it. I hope any of these tips help

I started my job 2 months ago and I come home from work crying every weekend that I am there. It is so toxic. They all hate me. They're all younger than me or around my age. They don't have kids, I am the only one that does. They all have each other on Facebook, most except my team leader added me but they don't talk, they make fun of me and the way I am. They found out I do Tarot readings and that became the gossip of the century. It's devastating and I feel so drained and dreading every weekend I work there. I'm at my wits end ! They're ALL problem people Bar one person who they all hate too!

IMO, keep going and show personal strength and stop worrying what they think. You do you, and they will respect you after you do more than they expected. You are the new person, and life is a hard ass game, so toughen up buttercup. I say this with love as an ex-doormat.

This is a comment unrealted to your problem, but a wise suggestion to get rid of the tarot cards. The reason is that its witchcraft and is abored by God and is very evil to be practicing. Get rid of it and start making a relationship with God instead of using witchcraft to find out all the answers you are looking for in life. He will show you as your faith grows with Him. As for your problems at work, its all over the place, no matter where you go its still the same.I deal with it too, its the way how you deal with it too.

I work as a caregiver, third shift. The work can be difficult sometimes, even just staying awake is hard at times, and it makes concentration difficult. I sometimes miss a few things, most of them minor. The problem is the first shift workers come in and they are always very negative. They ignore me and go and find things that I missed or did wrong in their eyes and they attack me. They are pretty hostile, raise their voice and use colorful language. They are completely unprofessional and belittle me. I am getting pretty sick of them and have even contemplated quitting my job and finding a new one. But the pay is great so I don't wanna let them win and laugh that they got rid of me and let them know they got to me.

Shawn Bateman Wow! I am a new employee and find this happening to me. Problem is, since I am new and others are afraid to open their mouths, I look like the bad guy. I have had to just take the lies, back stabbing and passive aggressive bullying. Otherwise, I stand to lose my job. There is no defending yourself. If I try, it only gets worse. Very sad that management is blind to this person and others are afraid to speak up. I am not prideful. I simply see the impact of such actions upon other employees, patients and families. But nothing will change. It hurts!!

I lost my job due to difficult co-workers. I tried to talk to them and squash things, but each and every time they run to the supervisor (who are friends) and tell them some bullshit story. it was 5 of them against me. I even requested a transfer. my transfer was approved, but they got me fired before my transfer date was due. They disliked me for some petty reasons. I was the youngest and a bit darker if u know what I mean lol. well whatever. screw this office shit I'm doing trucking. less people to deal with

I got into trucking. 2 months after that (12/11/17) I bough my own truck for $15k and I’m pocketing $2k-$4k a week and can take time off for as long as I want. Life is pretty sweet now. Just started a new job and this one girl is really pissing me off. So, this is my first serving job and, unfortunately, I always work with this girl on the busiest (and my most stressful) days. I can't tell you how many times this girl only added onto my anxiety and nearly had me going into a mental breakdown. Of course, I'm a little slow because this is my first waitressing job. This girl has the nerve to act like she's the manager and tell me to move faster and boss me around. On top of that, I'll try and be nice and offer to help somehow and she straight up responds in a rude tone every time. She even has the nerve to try and get me to let her go home early. Of course, I always tell her no because one, she's rude to me, two, I worked a longer day, and three, she doesn't do shit when it comes to side work. I'm the one always trying to get it done. I'm just so frustrated and done with her.
@ailov3

Hmmm I'm kind of scared to keep pursing healthcare field because I felt that way when I interned. I hated going to the clinic every morning. All the girls there were fake and toxic. They treat the job as a competition and sadly as an intern I was treated as if I was there to take their job and didn't really learn much except the environment and I wonder if it is like that in all healthcare....

Everythingonice22 Greetings from me ! I suggest you go back and watch Alexandra's video a couple of times( its a researched fact that when you watch a video 7 times and at intervals , you "digest" the knowledge. why I am saying this ? because your answer is already replied in the video. I could easily point out where, but i would not do that as I am a Coach and would rather let you " discover" the answer yourself as it would be more effective and long lasting. All the Best !

I literally have had this problem more than once and every time this happens what makes me feel better is the close my eyes and picture punching them in the face and then after that I focus on what I can get out of the job I try to find positive the money could be a positive maybe you focus on that while looking for a new job you can’t run away a from bad people because they are everywhere but if you’re in a job where it’s too toxic you have to leave or else you will end up becoming a different person never settle for less than what you deserve never let anyone disrespect you but for as long as you need to use the job as a resource do so and then get the hell out as quick as you can but think of your job as something that will give you what things you can use not as the main thing in your life and don’t take any thoughts home with you always come home and get focused on other things

I work in small office where there is 3 other ladies other than me, I've never met toxic and negative people, so I was nice to them but they are jealous people and they start by all the possible ways to pissed me off and talk about bad things and give wrong statements about me to new people and make themselves angels. I even get to a point where I want to quit my job and oh by the way your solution to act when needed, I used some of these steps more than one time but it didn't work so well bcz when I tell them facts and times they will get mad and start talking no sense and they are always right and I'm wrong and hateful, arrogant, mean ....

+Alexandra Potora I'm well, I am getting ready to move to the States actually, in a few months. Nervous but excited. I am curious to learn as much as I can before I get there, I'm sure it will be a lot different. I have a coworker who I have to go on trips with, and be involved with regularly. We work in a nursing home. She talks "at me, not to me" most of the time. She gives command and has no problem correcting me publicly. She is not a supervisor but wants to be when our supervisor retires. She has no "professionalism behavior skills" when addressing myself and others. Our real supervisor has seen her in action but will not address it! I'm ready to lose my temper but know that will t help in the long run. Any advice?

SAME. This girl will hand me a ton of papers and say “Oh V you can do these.” And I’ll reply sarcastically like “REALLY? I can? Thank you so much!” She is does speak ESL but no way that accounts for everything she says/does. And I’ve had the same experience with supervisors watching it happen and doing nothing. (I tried the “Did you just hear that?” but it was blown off) My best advice would be to ask to speak with your supervisor privately and let them know how much it’s affecting your day to day. It would probably help if you have other coworkers who feel the same. Best of luck!

I understand and know how to cope with co workers that are a problem but what I can't understand or know how to deal with an office manager who listens to the "clique " and doesn't even ask questions, I feel like I Can't win!! Should I take it to the higher authority? I already spoke to my boss which is at another location but I have to work there everyday! And it makes me feel uncomfortable!
@AlexandraPotora
@AlexandraPotora 7 лет назад
ugh, that's tough my friend! Have you addressed that with the manager directly? Maybe express those exact feelings in a respectful manner? That way you can at least give it a first try without going above his/her head, which could spark up more trouble. And if things don't change after that, maybe HR or (option 2) that person's superior. And in the process, if you can work on not taking things personally, that may be one of the better alternatives. Unfortunately people will be how they are, and in certain situations, we just have to learn to tune them out and not get so affected by them. I made a video about that too. So try those techniques + talk directly with that manager and see where that takes you. good luck my friend!

I work in a department where the 3 of us share a very long desk, so there is no avoiding the other person. Every day the work is suppose to be divided up but its usually me and 1 other person doing it. The other person comes in late every day, clocks in, logs into the internet and scrolls on facebook and texts her husband all day long. She spends hours putting on her make up and playing with her hair. She takes longer lunches and then doesn't eat at home and brings food and warms them up in the microwave and we have to smell it everyday. She takes 25 minute breaks instead of 15. She basically gets paid to scroll on her phone. She is very selfish, we have potlucks and she is the first to eat and never brings anything. Me and the other lady are hard workers and have had it. I am new to this department (6months) the other lady 8 years and the selfish one has been there 8 years also. The boss knows all about it and turns a blind eye. Wondering if HR would do anything but doubt it. It just sucks. I try not to get too involved but I am a hard worker and cant put up with this. The lady before retired early because nothing was done about this. Anyone have advice?

Great video, that's a great way to be a leader as well. So my issue at work is that I'm not very close with my coworkers , and there is little communication . I would like to break the barrier and talk more, I just don't know how. I already have a reputation As a quiet girl and I'd like to change that, because I've changed as a person, but every time I go into work, the same feeling of my old self comes back. if you have any similar situations can you please make a video on this ??

Hi Alexandra. I'll be honest with you. Some of your videos helped me so much during a very difficult period of my life (last year) , I start everything from zero alone in a foreign country. Now I found a man who is exactly the way I was looking for. It's to beautiful to be true. Sometimes I m so afraid and I start crying for no reason . Maybe it s also the fact that I m alone here and when I have the minimum discussion with him I feel lost, even though I know in life I can only count on myself . But I swear to god it s so perfect in every sense , he protects me , loves me ,he even told me that he want me to be his wife and plans to marry me soon. What can I do to not let those feelings kill me every time I feel fragile and ....I'm afraid ...... Thanks a lot. Kisses from Italy
@AlexandraPotora
@AlexandraPotora 8 лет назад
+Corina Lushi hi beautiful! I totally get it, I felt very much the same when I came to this country. My biggest advice to you is to work on things to strengthen yourself, as opposed to get lost in the love of a man. I did that and let's just say that I wish I had done things differently.... Enjoying the love, loving back and being together is great, but since you're carving a new path for yourself, your future path needs to take priority. And if that man is good enough for you, time will show it, by him staying by your side no matter what. For yourself, I recommend working on building some confidence and love and belief in yourself (I made videos about that if you want to watch). Work your mind (I.e. gain knowledge - learn new applicable skills, learn things that will help you career wise, read inspirational books, listen to audio and podcasts, etc. Knowledge also brings confidence) - work on your body (eat healthy, exercise, spend time outdoors, stretch). Stay organized (keep your space clean and decluttered). These are some examples of things that will keep you busy and keep you focused on YOU. Quality men (the kind of man a woman Should marry) is attracted and loves a woman who's got her own ish going on. Be that woman, which I know you can be! Work on yourself and your life, and if he's good enough for you and hold true weight, than he'll be nothing but supportive of that. Hope this makes sense. Good luck girl ;)

Whenever I have to ask something to a colleague who is in the middle of his/her duties, I have a habit of starting with a whispering voice “Sorry to bother you......”. In response, 99% of the time I get a vacant sullen look. On the other hand, if somebody interrupts me during my hectic hours, I respond with a smile, “Sure, no problem”. Now, here is one example of real life incidents. I have a colleague, who is half-deaf, slow and understands only a few words in English. One day she was working with an optical device, and I asked with a whispering voice if she was going to finish soon, as I was going to need it rest of the day. She answered, “No, no.”. I said with a smile, “Take your time. No hurry.” I had other things to do in the meantime anyway. Unfortunately, she didn’t understand the expression “Take your time”; she had no idea what “No hurry” means. In response, she gave me an obnoxious look with bunched eyebrows and barked, “Whatttttt?” Later she complained to my boss that, I was being rude to her. There was absolutely no witness, so my boss took her side, not mine. I was speechless, and I have never been able to correct my boss’s impression about me until today, and this incident still keeps haunting me, even though it was about 2 years ago. My question to you, what did I say wrong?

How is a behaviour considered bullying for example am new at the job for the past 3 months a senior co-worker who is also supposed to give me on the job training (i depends on her help on a daily basis) likes to put me down say things like my hair is not looking nice or my dressing is not nice or what i eat she can say things like these young people can eat stupid things or shout at me infront of clients if i ask something and she did not explain it fully or make comments like this is common sense did you not go to school and laugh but than she acts nice with the other girl i started work with. Am the nicest person at my work place am kind with everyone. If she starts a conversation with me and treat me nice thats only if she is gossiping about someone. How do i deal with these i never confronted her i just ignore but problem is i seat next to her.

Soo i wanna see if any of yall can figure this out. I got this job through my ex's mom. And i love my job. I love the hours, the flexibility. Well as you read before, i got it through my ex's mom.. and she works here too.. and she works right beside me. We both kept the peace of course. Shes super nice, my coworkers are great, theres just a problem. She talks about my ex constantly. (I would like to point out. It was a mutual ending of the relationship. We both agreed to end it. No hard feelings in the end even though it was a breakup and breakups are tough and sad obviously.) So anyways, i dont blame her talking about her son. Shes allowed to and she even asked me if it was okay if she could talk about him. (What am i suppose to say? No, youre not allowed to talk about your life?) So of course i said yes, she could talk about her family, even though its annoying she keeps me updated on them. And its not like shes talking to everyone and i could just put in headphones, sometimes she pokes me and tells me what he or her daughter said the other day. NOW I KNOW WHAT YOURE GOING TO SAY! "why dont you just tell her to stop?" Well... I try to give out hints when she does that like im not that interested because If i tell her i dont want to hear it, she'll spread it.. because she likes to gossip and shes VERY dramatic even though like i said, shes super nice and she is, im not being sarcastic. Lol **I just think she needs to think well my son wouldnt like it if someone kept him updated on what his ex was doing every weekend, right!?!?** Shes suppose to move into an office soon but she can still come over and talk. Im sorry i made this super long. Everyone tells me to find another job. Honestly, i dont think i could find a job thats as great as this job and will let me take off as much as i need to (bc of my disability and needs) I want to hear your opinions.

I work in a kitchen and when I was first hired there was this lady who wasn’t so well at cooking so she would do cleaning, dishes prep food ext. one day I came in and the main cook told me to leave all this dishes for her. “That’s all she’s good at”. All I said was. I one participate in bullying . So I did them. 2 months go by and she quit cause of how bad the bullying was. I’ve stayed cause I can’t find another job at the moment. Anyways I’ve had experience with cooking and I’d say I’m quite well. But he wanted to bully me into doing dishes and etc. I’ve spoken to my boss already but nothing is being done. Dear Alexandra, How should I deal with my supervisor whom I have asked out for dinner by mistake who rejected me because she has a boyfriend? Now she is passively avoiding me, giving me very short instructions in lab and very short answers to my emails. How can I make the work environment better, she is behaving now very professionally, a bit too formal around me. I do not know if I am emotionally hurt by her initial rejection or if I should confront her to be less ''professional'' towards me. Thank you very much!
@AlexandraPotora
@AlexandraPotora 4 года назад
Jia Yao hi my friend! What I would personally do in your shoes is just be professional and give it time. She’s being like that because she doesn’t want to send any signals of emotional availability and that’s perfectly normal. Do your best not to take it personally, because it’s not personal. Well, I know that’s easy to say; but trust me, bringing it up again will only make things weirder. Weirder and longer to bounce back from. Best thing to do IMO is to let this blow over on its own, and try to take your mind away from it. Definitely don’t look into it too much if you can. Let time heal things if you know what I mean; in the meantime just be yourself. Hope this helps
