Destroyed or vastly improved? Depends on your outlook. I mean I like the pure simplicity of the piano, but the drums went very nicely with the pieces also.

We have an excellent professional drummer at our church and I am the church pianist. We did the Rondo alla Turca in church one Sunday last year and received a standing ovation which was quite a surprise. The congregation loved it. The drummer started with a rock beat in the minor sections then changed to a military cadence when we would go into A Major. I think Mozart would have liked it as well. Not all classical pieces can be effective with drums but careful choices can be. I also used the drums during Chopin's b minor Prelude. Very haunting.

I love all of these videos. From the serious to the parodies to the downright comedic. They always make my day so much better.

Not sure how I feel. Sounds so cool on one hand and on the other it sounds strange. If this got people listening to classical music, I am all for it! 😊

An impressive experiment. You have a protagonist (the pianist) and his sidekick (the drummer). The sidekick must complement and not steal the show from the protagonist. The music chosen is a bit difficult for the drummer to harmonize with you but not impossible. Takes effort and time. If try this with the another song eg The Lion sleeps tonight by The Token, the drummer will find it easier to harmonize. You are exploring and improvising just like the musicians of the past - Mozart or Bach. You definitely did not destroy.
