By far the best instructional video I’ve seen bc he takes his time and doesn’t just fly through all the information ! Great job! Definitely subscribing!
This just happened on my 98' K1500 and I was so confused. I have never heard of a weephole before. After I got home, I noticed there was a pretty consistent stream of water leaking from my motor, and leading up to the bottom of the waterpump where the apparent weephole is (just did a flush two days ago and was running distilled water until I add the coolant back). I thought a bolt had vibrated out of the water pump or something 😂 I can now only deduce that the flush must have shaken loose whatever was keeping my apparently deteriorated seal, well, sealed. Cool. Now I know what a weephole is, and that I definitely need to order a new pump pronto. You guys have helped so much with learning how to work on different parts of my truck that I was ignorant about. Thanks a bunch, and keep up the awesome work! These are the best DIY auto videos on RU-vid.
The guy in this video’s attention to detail is freaking amazing for myself atleast, I’ve watched 30 RU-vid video and because I have to understand the way things work to learn it’s been a real b**** but thankfully this guy gets it! Thanks a bunch sir you are a legend!

You can also get a cooling system pressure tester loaned from Autozone or Advance Auto Parts which pressurizes the system and if the pressure gauge it had drops, you can see where the external leak is or you can find out if it's an internal leak. If it's an internal engine leak that means you have a cracked/warped cylinder head or a blown head gasket.
OMG awesome video... A lot of the stuff I knew some I didn't but I don't have a bad water pump obviously but I watched all the way to the end just because this dude got me really interested
SOUNDS GOOD HOLY MOTHER OF PANCAKES AND SYRUP WITH REAL BUTTER , MY DODGE DURANGO IS BLEEDING AND HAS NO AIR . GREAT VIDEO YOU JUST SOLVED THE PROBLEM.. TANKS COOL !

I took my 97 Dodge Ram van in for something totally different (dealers) and they said I needed a water pump. I didn’t believe them cause I had no over heating issues. Came here to watch the video. Going to get a second opinion some place. I’m a 71 old lady easy to scam.
Very good idea. I came to this video and determined my 1959 ford f100 pickup water pump should be replaced since coolant is coming out of the weep hole although its on the very top side of the pump not the bottom like he says. However my other concern is as it is an older truck and engine i believe the pump and fan is one unit which is why i think the fan rocks back and forth or has to much play in it. Perhaps yours isnt weeping out coolant but has a bad bearing like mine.
Through video. The Heater Core on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee has my hair on fire!! I flushed the heater core and the water flows fine and is clean! But despite both lines going to firewall being hot, the Heater Core stays cold !! No heat comes towards the cabin side!! Blend Door area is now cut open and they both work. Actuator also works and operates the blend doors! Could it be the failing Water Pump that's is not pushing the water w enough pressure?
My Accord has been sitting in door at a car storage for 3 years. I'm taking out of storage this coming Spring in April and putting it on the road, but first I wanna replace any worn out parts and I also I wanna replace my Timing belt Tensioner and water pump, along with a complete tune up Spark plugs, and wires distributor cap and rotor with the O-ring, cabin filter and fuel filter. There's also a Vacuum leak and an Evap issue with the fuel running either rich or lean, I can't remember. It's best I check all the Suspension components as well, and the Brakes and rotors. Maybe flush and fill the radiator fluid and Transmission fluid. My Accord has the original F22, with 370,000km with a few Aftermarket performance engine bolt on's.
any ideas why a freshly replaced water pump is still leaking? I can't spot the exact location, but that weep hole sounds suspect to me. Seems to be just below the actual outside turning mechanism that is linked in with the belt. Very minimal, but I can see a small drip after a day of driving.
Hi. I don't have a leaking water pump, but I think the bearing might be going on it; however, I can't 100 percent pinpoint the sound, so I am not sure I should replace it (85k 2005 Toyota).
God These engine bays are so narrow its so stressful to work on thats why i own myself V8 90s vehicles some from early 2000 thanks GM for these Ugly vehicles
Can my water pump be bad if im not leaking coolant? I used stop leak because I did have a leak but its not leaking anymore but gauge reads half way then randomly will move to 3/4
Hye, my radiator is keep on discharging coolant into spare tank. Even many parts has changed (new radiator, new thermostat, new radiator hose, new radiator cap) but the radiator still discharging coolant into spare tank. One of my mechanic suggest me to change the water pump. May i get your advice?
My 01 civic overheats a little up past half when idiling after a while at a light. Replaced the thermostat already but have a sweet antifreeze smell when the engine is too hot. When I start driving the temp goes back to normal is that cause the water pump isn’t doing its job until I press the gas and it starts to pump again?
Thanks . Recently I changed my car nissan tiida 2011 radiator because of some leaking and after that my car was showing overheating when i drive 60 / 70 km. and i can feel my car was giving small vibration before the overheat indicator. So i do stop the car aside road again fill the water . I can’t see any external water leakage. A/C is working perfectly and heat is not working. I recently changed water pump too. I am tired of this pls can you advice me.
I'm seeing coolant leaking below the serpentine belt but also out of the coolant drain plug(below radiator). Does the coolant leak travel from passenger side to driver side area? There are 2 puddles.
A quick simple way is to let the vehicle sit over night then open the radiator cap make sure you have coolant in it start motor with cap off let motor run a bet look in to the radiator to see if coolant is flowing if not you got a bad water pump or the thermostat is stuck ether way change both.
This is a good video, i know something similar form a china supplier, Chonqging feilong jiangli is a very professional supplier to supply water pumps, oil dipsticks, rubber parts etc.
That's the kind of smell that I was getting and also when I stop the car that was like smoke coming out from a leakage somewhere where the coolant was going in also it's making like a loudest grinding noise and one of the police is like kind of off looks like the water pump one so I'll probably just go ahead and replace that
Great video . Mine ok it allows coolant into expansion tank . Thus lessening coolant on system. To0 hose felt empty . I turned off engine. Siphoned into rad ..revved 2500 on off few minutes got heat back (I'd lost heat inside went cold ) . Any help is appreciated silly useless garage found nothing . Bizarre I'm determined to find it ..hg was replaced under a year ago . My gut says it's not that ..garage say they've eliminated hg issues but yet can't find the issue . Brag about 35 years experience..ffs ggrr thanks
Hey my Honda Civic 2005, overheated when I bought it. I changed the radiator, thermostat, and the fan, but the radiator won’t hold the water when driving in hot weather the temperature goes to the roof
I’m literally taking my 05 Honda Civic to the mechanic shop right now to have a new water pump and timing belt put on , I changed out the thermostat and radiatior when I first got it and it didint overheat for a few months and then I took it to see family which is a 4 hour drive and about a hour before I got home it randomly started overheating again the shop diagnosed it as the water pump hopefully it works I’ve been dealing with this car for awhile now and from reasearching I’ve seen a lot of people have the same issue with this model car
John John my timing belt almost broke, but the piece that was causing the overheating was some called “la cebollita) that’s the name in Spanish idk in English, but it looks like a big screw
So the gauge showing it at normal operating temp but a smell of coolant is an indication to look at the pump rather than head gasket? I was getting a noise when id accelerate that sounded like a bad bearing, only one that i havent changed is my water pump so im thinking it could be that? It started smelling like coolant when i got home last night from driving around the park and the bearing noise wasnt as loud as it typically can be. The engine did seem a little but warmer than i expected but the gauge is working and showing a normal temp slightly below the halfway point. Theres no coolant on the ground. Havent fully looked at everything but i couldnt see any leaks
My car gets hot, not fully over heating but past the middle when I'm at red lights for to long. When I drive it goes back to normal. I replaced my radiator and thermostat. and I have no leaks and my fluid is full. I seen my fans come on but they come on for 10 seconds then shut off. What could be my issue?
Why was the radiator replaced? If temps are normal when moving , then the radiator was doing it's job. You most likely have an air circulation problem. Which is why it gets hotter when stopped, and not when moving. The fan(s) are responsible for air flow when stopped or at low speeds. That should be a cooling fan, fan relay, or fan switch issue.
My teenage daughter has a 2002 Camry LE with a four cylinder engine and a timing chain. At 188k, I am having to ad a couple of cups of coolant once a month to keep it topped off. I'm speculating that it's time to replace the water pump on this car.
I need help my car had a overheating issue. Mechanic said it was head gasket. Got it fixed. New head gasket. New radiator. New Thermostat . Car runs great in the city. When on highway with ac car temp goes off. Once ac is off temp goes down. Both fans work fine though. !! Need help
My 2004 ×3 BMW SUV started running hot a week ago. I replaced the radiator, and the thermostat. It ran smooth for 2 days and started running hot again smh. Do I need to replace the water pump or the censor?
Overheating at idle but not while driving. My new clutch fan comes on at start up but not when over heating it's only about 6 months old. 2002 dodge Durango new thermostat, radiator, electric fan, hoses, idler pulley and seen that my belt was on wrong???? Help me please my next step is the water pump???
+letsmakeit -makesense Thanks for watching! There could be many reasons for a coolant leak, but we are unable to diagnose your particular issue. We recommend have a trusted garage take a look at the vehicle if you are unable to determine where the leak is coming from. 1aauto.com
Thats funny, I still have a 91 Tercel and noticed a little crud in the weep hole while I was resealing the oil pump. The car has 370K and its more reliable than most newer cars (LOL!)
+Arts&Trusts It may be motor oil that you are referring to. There may be a leaky oil gasket on the engine that is causing this to happen. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
I was changing my timing belt, when I realized my water pump was actually about to die on me when I pulled the water pump out it had corroded inside, and started to leak a little guess it's a good thing I'm in there
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?
I tried flushing out my coolant on my 2000 gmc sierra by unscrewing the cap at the bottom of the radiator and also took off the coolant reservoir cap and the fluids won't come out, wondering what is going on, truck overheats after like half hour into driving, please help, i just changed out the water pump
I can't wait 30 minutes to crack a radiator cap when I got to have the next car in within 20 minutes 😭 I just throw a rag over the cap and take it off slowly, it growls at me 🤣
If my water pump is going bad would my car overheat all the time? My mechanic said I need one, but my car always seems to stay in the middle of the H” and “C”...thanks in advance for your help
+C Jacobs We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, there are many things other than overheating that could be the cause of a bad water pump. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Good info .. i think my last mecanic that replace my 99 prelude scams me..cus like 4 to 5 days after replaces my timing belt and water pump it starts to leak.. .... wath i did i put a little screw inside that little hole of the water pump cus i found that was easy.. and then is been 2 years and working with out no problem my car..im not shure if the mecanic lie to me or was a bad water pump .. but till that day no overheating problems .. im comfuse..
I am wanting to buy a (1998 Lincoln Continental Silver) from someone on facebook..they said it was perfect but it doesnt run because of the waterpump..before i buy it I want to know what is exactly wrong with it..any tips"I don't want to put money into this car rlly because I need a daily car"
@ThePariss333 NP It pretty much depends if you run your vehicle on water or coolant, naturally it will last less time if you use water to cool your engine, I have a few forklifts which I learned about this for the first time myself. I actually need to change another one sometime tomorrow. Yes all engines have them. they are a bit inconspicuous to notice them on the engine especially if you don't know about it.
