As you leave the Tanker's Engine Room in Metal Gear Solid 2, you must progress past three infrared sensors wired to semtex. Here's how disable all three laser explosives.

Am I just stupid? Because I had no idea there were three sensors. I shot the one in between the sensors but didn't know about the ones up top or in the back. That's why we have the internet.

If you’re on PlayStation, hold R1 to go first person, then hold Square to pull out you gun. Let go of Square to fire, and press Square again to pull out the gun again. If it’s on PC then I have no idea, I’m a console gamer.
