Great video. Great knife. It is a homerun. Mine was perfect out of the box. In fact, the last 3 benchmades I've purchased were all very well done from the factory. The Anthem is so nice I really don't even want to take it apart for cleaning lol. I'm afraid I'll screw it up somehow! But this video gives me courage. I've even grown fond of the color and the clip on it. Thanks again for the channel and what you do!
I just got my Anthem last week and I absolutely love it... favorite knife I've ever had but the anodization on it was screwed up I think. It's a very dull goldish green color. Think I need to send it into spade knife works and get that changed
Nathaniel Kibler id send it in to BM.. They still have QC issues.. There's a problem with the 940-2 and other G10 models.. The G10 pattern is missing all around axis lock area just on show side.. I had a 940-2 with this problem.. I've also seen 2 other 940-2s with same missing G10 pattern in exact area.. Also, saw a G10 REI 940 with the same problem.. I want to like Benchnade and hope the best for them,.. But, I hope they are trying to do better.. Kizer, Real Steel, WE etc have great F&F and will be gunning for cos like BM..
Bacon SlayerCM well I know they change their anodization recipe for the anthem they dialed down on the bronze so it said duller color now. Not green tho
What does the wear pattern look like on the blade stop/frame? Mine only makes about 50% contact with the right half of the blade tang. Just curious what sort of variation is out there.
Hey Nick. My anthem recently stopped working. I was hoping maybe you could do a video on disassembling the spring function? I know it’s a lot to ask. I will keep an eye out.
Regarding the pivot screw getting loose: you should actually use Loctite 222MS, it can withstand vibrations much better compared to the "red" or "blue" Loctites, it's more rubber like when it dries compared to the plastic like of the other two Loctites. Also always clean the surfaces with 99% alcohol prior to applying any Loctite. I have the 781 and don't have any pivot loosing issues after using this Loctite.
Looks to be one of if not the best Benchmade knives ever made. But I can't really justify the price. Probably go with a 940-2 or the knifeworks 940 as my first Benchmade.
That's a great knife and great upgrade to the axis lock.. I love many Benchmades but I'm leery of the omega springs and ability to stay closed (don't really have a true detent)..I've had about 12 and am at 7 now with no problems.. I'd bet BM will replace the axis with that lock in the future.. I'd love to know the failure rate of omega springs.. Is it 1% or 5 or 10 ?
Fastest Disassembly in Shabazz history? Has to be close. Really interested to hear your opinion on this one. I've been on the fence for a while with this one. Thin stock, reasonable weight, and a generally solid design (not a fan of no steel washers, but hard to do on a integral knife so understandable). But that price makes me wonder with Benchmade quality.
How big of a pain is it to remove the axis spring. That's what I was hoping to see here. How long does it take for omega spring failure? Hear people say it's a bad design but I've had several axis lock knives and never had one break or wear out after years of edc use. Just wonder how much better this new spring is
This doesn't use Omega springs, and goddamn... This became one of the most sought after knives in the community! Glad I kept mine, I almost traded it for a Fif20. Glad I didn't!
Integrals all neat as always, I don't know if they are justified for the price bump. I am suspecting China may have some success with the idea in the future. super glad benchmade is getting away from those shitty omega springs, The axis lock with the new design might actually get a reliable rating from me in the future. (I am very slightly worried about the two little screws in the knife that hold the new spring in place.) wasn't a fan of the thin area around the pivot first time I saw it still not a fan that sad the Anthem is more of a showpiece then a hard use user... I would honestly take some nicely polished washers over the bearings... but I am someone who values reliability and toughness to more extreme degrees then most others though. (even though I have moved on in life to a far more relaxed role for my knives.)
Where did you buy your driver and the torx bits? I always end up buying bad quality ones cause they end up selling, bending or breaking. So yeah, I'm looking to get a decent quality one.
Nick Shabazz follow up question; have you ever had to replace the bits or set because the bits stripped out or something broke? if you have, how many times?
Hey Nick, long time watcher, first time asking a question. Just figured I had to ask if you've ever held/tried a Two Sun knife. I find they are a fantastic budget option, but are from China. Thanks for all the great reviews!
This is one of those Chinese Microbrands that I'm aware of, but holding off on doing anything with for a year or two, partly to make sure they're still around, and to make sure they're not also making clones/homages.
there is a reason why you would not do a full dissemble. That new axis assembly is a pain to put back together. I still haven’t got mine back together. No videos on anyone demonstrating it either. Real bummer.
