There are a lot of 2004-12 Colorado/Canyon owners looking for the same type of video on how to disassemble and service the 7.6 IFS that came on those trucks. It would be great if Nitro Gear came out with one.
Hahaha, dropped my truck off at a local shop 2 days ago to install 4.56 set in my ZR2. Get a call from him today saying "the entire front rear has to come out". I made him repeat it because I had to be hearing it wrong. Said the entire rack and pinion has to come out and book time was like 18hrs on just the "front rear". When I went to go pick up the truck he showed me what he was talking about. Said the steering rack has to come out because the "thing sticks off the back" (pinion) so far that the "front rear has to slide forward" to clear it. Shook my head and drove home. Currently seeking another shop to handle it. By the looks of it, you guys have done a few "front rears". Wanted to ask him if a rear was a "rear rear"...he called it the "back rear"
Good thing they saved you the headache from that inexperienced shop. They must be blind, because there is a cross member that only holds the rear of the front diff that if they could not clear it rotating it, they could have removed the 4 bolts and it would have dropped straight down with no problems. Sounds like they have no idea of what they are doing. You are better off.
