So important to understand parents methods but also the reality that children's behavior isn't perfect all the time and there will be challenges even with parental guidance and support

I love you guys. I only have like 4 1/2 weeks left with my 2nd host family in Germany before I head home. It's been REAL. Discipline was also a real issue here because I think I was a lot more strict than the parents but also very sweet with the kids so getting them to understand that I mean it was a St-ru-ggle. Bbbbuuuuut. In the last few weeks I have started with charts As new way of letting them see there behaviour kind of laid out and they are also really competitive about that so no-one wants more red dots than anyone else so they work to keep their charts green which is "Yay". Also I smile less now so they know its for real and that there's legit "no Park Today"😋 Today they actually got up and got dressed, outside of bed. I almost cried happy tears (but I'm a mature grown up 19 year old 👀so I kept my cool😑). But I think it's also easier to discipline them now that the whole "I want them to like me" and "This could turn to hate any second" phase is over. They love already 😈 so now there's more of a little sister vibe so its just like "Shush and go sit somewhere where no one can see your face until you've figured out how to stop acting like a puppy" and the big sister in me is like "nailed it" . Anyhoo. Thanks for your cool videos. Wish I'd seen them sooner.

Can I ask what your five top rules were and how those played into your host families rules? What were the kids’ ages? How did you assert your authority as it were upon walking in the door? (Bas phrasing, I know.) I’m not super outgoing and am not sure about how to handle that. I feel it will be a weak point.

There are so many videos outlining useful French phrases for tourists. Nothing for future Au Pairs! A video of useful childcare phrases in French would be amazing! (Ex: "Are you thirsty?", "Was that a poop or just toots?", "Time for bed!", "What hurts?", "Don't run into the street." etc...)

Hi guys ! Love your videos. I just started au pairing in Paris this past month, can you reccomend any good parenting blogs that were helpful for you? Thanks ! - Nicole

I am an Aupair in my first year and my host kids are just so frustrating. My host parents are not helping me because I asked the mom for advice and she just literally said I should wing it, that's what she does. I have seen how she interacts with them and they disrespect her too. Going to your room or going to the corner wouldn't work because that's not what the parents do. There's no rules when it comes to discipline except for what I shouldn't do like hit them etc. I am thinking of not extending because I spend most of my time with the children and if I can't deal with them I can't deal with having to look after them for another year.

Do you mean Au Pair World? There is nothing to register for in terms of APOP ! Unless you are trying to be a member? Which is for everyone everywhere! But I think you are probably talking about Au Pair World, which sometimes rejects people because of visa restrictions!
