Man, get to the point! Thanks for making the video but not many people search for "speed feed head" when they want a story about your dad and his tomato plants nor when they want info about organic fertilizer and your trip to a specific local store. It was 3 - 1/2 minutes (in a 9 minute video) and two trips to your garden shed before you even mentioned the point.
Thank you so much. My husband took the whole head apart to replace the string - not realizing he didn’t need to. Then he proceeded to take 3 days trying to put it back together. He gave up, and said he would have to buy a new one. I took it away from him, looked up your video and less than a minute into the video I see that the underside of the button should have little ridges and ours did not. I pulled the black plastic off the back of the button and flipped it over….thirty seconds later - I’m ready to weed eat again!! Thank you thank you.
I have one of these heads i use professionally, it's great! I sometimes wind it back in to get water meters and irrigation boxes and smaller stuff. I have POV of one in action on my channel.
Thank you very much! I was banging my head against the wall, because if you put the spool back on the wrong way (tabs facing the trimmer head), the wire will retract every time.

Hi great video helped me alot but i would have done it in the grass so i didnt scrach anything also i liked the line you were using i love this head it is so easy to put string in one ur out take it apart get the old little bit of string out then put and back together and feed string awsome love it awsome trimmer head
The last six minutes of the video were very informative -- I wish you'd skipped the stuff about the fertilizer, the tomato plants, etc. When I first started to watch, I thought I had clicked on the wrong video.
Just an observation. You seem to be missing the spacer between the Speed Feed head & the plate adapter? The top plate of the head is ver close to the guard.
Can you please make a video of the actual complete removal of the entire trimmer head. Example: in my case my echo 225 trimmer head is completely worn down so I bought a new speed feed head that is double the holding capacity 20ft of line but I don't know how to do it :/
Thought I would take the time to add my 2 cents worth.....for those panicked homeowners like myself who found it necessary to lose their virginity opening up one of these for the first time. Just purchased one (5" Stens Fast Feed part #385-288) from Amazon for my new Makita EM2650LH. For those in the same situ this Fast Feed screws right on the existing shaft without dealing with all those adapter parts that come with this trimmer head. If you are opening up a new one like myself the above video portrays pushing those tabs as an easy feat. For me it was a swear fest. The plastic is stiff. Also. the reader may like to know that the head accommodates 10' of .080"/7' of .095"/5' of.105" and 4' of .130". The directions start with saying to cut 20' of line. Where was 20' mentioned? Must be something less than.080" . Make sure when you press the two halves back together you really hear an audible click.. I guess I didn't accomplish this well enough and the halves went flying when I fired it up. Luckily it is a simple mechanism with no small parts otherwise I would have been in deep do-do
The tabs on the spool should go up??? Dude, you shouldn't be making videos about things you don't have a clue about! Those spools are made to operate on trimmers that run in either direction. The spools are marked R on one side and L on the other - for right hand or left hand rotation. Get it backwards and the spool will "ratchet" in the wrong direction. FAIL! Sheeze I hate RU-vid "experts".
John Parken, dude really? Some posts info are 2-3 times longer than this guy. You don't say thanks for the vid then yap about he and his dad and feed store. Do you have a son? Does he feel like this about you? I don't know lawn boy but seames like he's sincere, likely a family man or will be? If when a hurry I can 1. Select a shorter vid. 2. Simply skip forward and get the info you wanted
