Yes mate keep gaining that knowledge you'll save a lot on materials and on mistakes. Your spot will progress in no time! Concrete really struggles to hold its own weight, stick in some metail to support it an you're golden! Like he said 3 inch minimum.. 4 really

Don't forget to keep it wet after pouring as the cement is curing, not drying. Just give it a light spray every hour or two after pouring for that first day. It will be much less likely to crack if you do that :D

He probably hit it one time and the thing fell down and the lips crumbled apart. You can't make concrete thin enough to skate like he wants to, you have to have thicker slabs and more obtuse angles. This guy's project was great for learning how to form concrete, but terrible for learning how to make a concrete quarterpipe.

Cement has heaps of compressive strength but very low tensile ( think flex ), strength. That's why we add what call reo here in Oz. Also, keep the cement wet for the first day after you've poured it because it's curing, not drying, and there's actually quite a bit of heat in the reaction. It will be less likely to crack if wet. Of course not soaked but give it a spray every hour or two and once before packing up for the day. Good vid and some nice cheap fun :D

I've tied rebar for a living and if you're not building a proper structurally sound building you don't really need tight ties. I knew some people that would tie really sloppy and you'd walk on the bars and the wire would snap. Not fun to slip on. But sloppy or not sloppy as long as it holds while you're pouring your quarter pipe you'll be sweet! Thought I'd also mention the fact that you used pliers instead of wire nippers and still managed to do a good job haha.
@ZackDowdy

Hi, I'm keen to get something like this done so I can drop it into a spot ninja style without having to spend time and risk getting caught building on site. A few questions do you think making it a board length wide and adding a lip of about a board width and keeping the base where it meets the ground 3 inches for extra strength would add too much weight? I want it to be movable at least until it is in place. I saw you moving yours around in the vid but and hopefully I can get some help with mine Also as far as support goes I'm thinking of stacking soil up behind it to stop it falling backwards as there is no wall I hope this is enough. Have you had any problems at the base of your quarter where it meets the ground My idea is to dig 3 inches down and bump the bottom of my quarter against the edge of an existing concrete area so there is no weak connection. I suppose this was more or less your original intention for your quarter. Anyway good job chief I'd been thinking about this sort of thing for a while but never got round to it.

watched the whole vid to see how you set it into the established crete and dude ended before completing. also, materials and tools exceed 50$ if you count tools. I assume you use a hammer and an angle grinder with a mason bit to cut out the footer? Still, stoked on the method.
