I can't really give that as a tip because to me, I pronounce my I's and E's completely differently to each other. To me, the way I say "tip" is completely different to how I'd pronounce "tep".

Erin I was just kidding. I love how you guys over there pronounce vowels. Not as insane or bizarre as how Kiwis and Aussies say them but still quite unusual.

Well, tbh, if you don't have a Scottish accent you're not really Scottish in the eyes of most people here. That's honestly basically all it is, a group of regional accents and dialects of English. If people keep thinking you're English and calling you English just due to the way you talk, then I hate to break it to you but you might actually just be English (which honestly, Scottish people are a subgroup of anyway). What annoys me is how nasty people get here when people do just talk normal English without a strong accent, like I do. I guess it's some kind of inferiority complex or something. Insecurity.

Pale Pilgrim I do have a Scottish accent. I used to get severely bullied the first years of high school for having a Scottish accent. I transferred schools because of it. I started covering up my Scottish accent with a fake English one that everyone seemed to believe. Now I have gotten over the bullying and speak in my normal Scottish accent.
