I really appreacite the disclaimer. Not so many peope take the time to do such a small yet important thing prevention is key to many problems for people. I am pretty flexible myself, i am an athlete also ive tried this position for the first time today and i got to say it was great but definitly nothing that id recommend for a beginner in yoga nor in any kind of sport. Please be gentle with your body and thanks for the video!!! i enjoyed this position a lot i had fun doing it :D

can i ask how long it took you to master this pose? Or were you naturally flexible to begin with? I struggle with hamstring and hip flexibility but have been working actively on it for almost a year now, with some slight results. not much but learning to be comfortable with the natural limitations of my own body. thank you!

Hi! I love your videos! can I also ask where you get your cute stretchy leggings and your to s? I am kind of having problems finding leggings that aren't uncomfortable when doing splits and stuff and that don't really show sweat stains after working out... Thank you so much for making the videos, you were the one who made feel motivated to work out regularly and thank you so much for making feel okay to have better days than others and to not be able to do things perfectly the first time

I am a 19 year old boy who was a blue belt in Taekwondo, I stop for a few months cuz of school, I think I have the time now to do this, but my flexibility right now seems kinda rusty. Might as well try still. Wish me luck guys.

tjkozic 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 just about everything in yoga is flexibility LOL flexibility comes with persistent practice like brushing your teeth daily. Essentially if you don't practice you won't improve, you can't expect to become flexible if you only are on your mat every few days. If you're serious about yoga, yoga is essentially a lifestyle not just something that you mindlessly do on a mat. It's a self journey and if you don't practice you will not obtain the results that you're hoping for. I've practiced going on 6 years now and I'm intermediate to Advanced. I can tell you the first year or two I wasn't always very serious about my practice and then one day I just decided that I truly wanted to be the best that I could be in it and that meant being on my mat every single day and keeping a super lean and clean diet as well as a couple hours per day in the gym. namaste

Why is Laura so triggered.. some people just dont have fitness incorporated in their lifestyle and its hard to get into the basics. Flexibility is being able to extend parts of your body at a wider range of motion. So it has to do with your muscles (extensors , muscles that work when you extend your body such as hamstrings, calves, abs etc). Muscle is like a rubber band; if you dont use it and leave it cold, it stays stiff and rigid. If you warm it up, it starts loosening up and will be able to stretch out more. The more frequently you perform exercises with wider range of motion, the more your muscles will increase the ability to stretch themselves out. Two important things: -only dynamic stretches (hold a stretch position for less than 3-5seconds tops) before your work out. For example, I usually do 10cal burn cardio+ 10 diff dynamic stretches x 3 sets for ~30mins before every work out. -Static stretches (hold the stretch for more than 30 seconds) only after the work out. I do this for at least 30mins-1hr after every work out session, every day. Its more important than your main work out of the day to prevent injuries. -during the work out, focus on good form and maximum range of motion. On top of building elasticity from stretches, your muscles will be able to hold more load (weight) at a stretched position. Again, analogy to a rubber band: your muscles will have great elasticity from stretching, along with stronger breaking strength from weight training (like how you measure strength of ropes lol). In conclusion, you dont necessarily need to do yoga to increase some flexibility but from heating your muscles up, lifting weights, stretching it consistently for weeks, months, years, you will inevitably see progress. However, keep in mind that flexibility is impermanent. You need to practice almost every day to maintain it.

Could you do a videos on how to increase flexibility (how to get your legs exactly 90degrees up like your when lifted in bird of paradise or lifted from the side, how to get your middle splits to the point where you can practice over middle splits and look like you are doing a perfect straddle in head stand, opening your inner groin and external hip flexors for middle splits and open side lunges and a bendy back for forward folds and backbends to get your foot to reach your head when lifted in downward dog from the back. Please make a video on how to increase flexibility, not for beginner but for intermediate - advanced practitioner who would love your hamstring and rotation if hip and normal hip/ groin flexibility and your bendy back when you create nice arch in downward to and lift your leg past 90 degrees to touch your head. [Does burnt food really cause cancer?] One must always consider the quantities involved. You can probably eat charred cabbage every day for a year and ingest less of the carcinogen nitrosamine than if you burnt tobacco and smoked one cigarette. Having said that, I tend not to burn my bacon. ;-)

do you have a dominant leg? lol, my left side is more flexible and is stronger than my right, (which is odd considering I'm a righty for everything else) plus I have better balance on it, I can pull this off up until extending fully on my left but I'm too wobbly and not flexible enough on my right haha helppp

skinnyminnow I had the wobbly problem when I first started trying this posture ( it was actually when the advanced yoga sequence was released) and I found that what really helped me was slowing my breathing a bit and making it deep and regular before extending the leg. also turning my grounded foot a little outward really helped :) I hope this helps some
