I feel like this fast castle into knights is gonna be one of the metas for a few civs. I'be done this for English but also Abbassid weirdly enough with the new culture wing tech of reduced age up cost and also with HRE steel barding (this can be especially scary when the enemy sees 8 armor knights rolling in at minute 10). It's like a big booming french player can make mass knights in imp you can do the same with HRE in castle
This is a difficult one to execute. How would it work. Once you learn a few BOs and UNDERSTAND how they work and why, then if you want to play good you will just implement parts of certain BOs because for example you know how many workers you need on which resource to afford what. So what does it mean not use a BO? How much deviation from a BO do you need to not call it a BO? And also, poor BO is still a Build Order. Or you want him to play really poor random sht on purpose.
@@Haluc7N just play neutral until the opportunity for a counter strategy presents itself. In this specific case of drongo's opponent all he needs to do is turtle. No build order needed. You don't even need a hyper efficient turtle. Just throw any old turtle together. You scout the early rax therefore you begin the turtle. No build orders no canned pick up lines needed.
This is already all over quick match, was trying it myself and had 4 mirror match ups in a row lol. Managed to beat a diamond player when i am only gold3/plat 1 by adding just 2 longbows during feudal and then attacking his vills when he tried to go castle. He had exactly 3 maa liek the video suggest and i only had 2 but he couldnt stop my harass and had to pull vills off the landmark and couldn't finish it: meanwhile i aged up behind the attack.
I like the video, but I hate the fact that 40% of my next game will have to deal with this easy to execute and hard to punish strategy. English kills the game fun! 😢
"No chance of us really dying to anything because we're playing English". LOL it's the civ with training wheels. It's the naked fast castle that you can't punish!
You mean fun and easy? Haha Because that’s the problem, it’s too easy to play and quite difficult to beat, even mistakes from the English players aren’t that severe.
@Max Mustermann yeah they will, you can bring food under your tc until you hit castle usually, just sheep and berries or herd deer. U can defo do it tho
The tactic is all 6 on gold, 40s of camping it then leave.. if I was French and I saw English match up I'd do it.. cos ur slightly slower on age up and if he goes dark age rush he's doomed
The king is actually pretty useful in order to heal your knights. I like playing fast castle with abbey of kings, producing knights and going for 2 archer ranges
How about a opponent that goes 2tc? and defends with spearmen light cav(abbasid) I feel like it could be very difficult to do enough damage. Or do you suggest an king's palace or a fast relic game in that case?
@@benni2862 not necessarily you'll notice macroing with 2 resources i.e. fast castle can even be faster due to reduced walking times and villager shuffling also fast castling gives you resources that you need for units so its a easy transition plus with english or HRE you don't even need to worry about wood because your landmark is yoru production. Plus castle units (depending on the unit) >>> Feudal units like 8x better if you go Clad Armor MAA for instance
Are you sure the wheelbarrow is actually cost effective here? Unless your vills are being chased around by harassment, it doesn't seem to do you much good since you never leave your base.
@@KobuCake nah not farmers, it's alright for deer and wood (farmers don't benefit from walking because the more wheat they gather, the further they have to walk to gather it, which basically cancels out the bonus it provides. gives like 4% boost after everything)
Pretty new to AOE4, but I'm finding your contents really helpful. Quick question - Do we eventually wanna get 2TCs even with this build? I'm wondering if getting 2+ TC is normally recommended if the game goes on for longer and get into a Imperial age.
Im not a great player, only Plat level. But I think in this build you generally wouldnt go 2TC. I suspect the only scenario you would look to go 2 TC is if both players have large villagers losses, and both have made it to castle age. Or possibly if your opponent has turtled up and you know that the game is going to be a long one. If you havnt had villager losses you are most likely going to benefit more from imp than trying to boom villagers.
Here is my personal input. Each build has a goal. This one is to get knights early enough for your opponent to be unable to respond. If you change goals, you're giving your opponent some slack, which is bad news. You must have heard about the rock/paper/scissors relationship between units. Well, it's the same with strategies. Booming > Turtling > Rushing > Booming > etc. You want to priorise one at a time. In the case of this build, you can do both since two MAAs have little impact to your eco and can rush while your eco is 100% invested in itself. So your opponent doesn't have the eco to efficiently counter your booming with a rush tactic. You basically force them into turtling mode while booming, which is quite a power move. The purpose of a second TC is booming. Which would be an answer to your opponent turtling successfully against your knights later in the game. If you rely on this basic framework, you'll make better decisions. Scout and react to what your opponent is doing at any time.
Would work the Abbey not better? The King for Healing knights (hard in- and than for healing out- like the french). And against spears we drop two archery - Range?
Question for everyone, I've not long got back into AOE, I was a long time gamer of AOM, so I'm currently only Silver 2. Should we not be looking for Imperial to get the gold from the farms? I know English farms are great but isn't that the biggest bonus to using the farms in such mass?
