it always blows me away how tastefully you cover serious subjects. like, if anyone were to just see the thumbnail for one of your videos, or be told about it, i'm pretty convinced a lot of people would judge the videos unfairly--i definitely did but every time i actually WATCH one of them, they're always some of the most genuine, well-thought-out, and funny videos covering topics like this that i think are incredibly important! thank you rad chad (who is not my dad)
I think you're absolutely right! I've definitely felt the same way many times. His videos genuinely are way way way better and far more thought out than the first impression would lead one to believe.
Same. When he hit me with the kill essay reveal, I physically recoiled like a villain in Dragon Ball getting hit with a Kamehameha, and shouted "NOOOOOOOOO!" just like one, too.
Idk, i guess that some of them have their own ships and don't like that the show chooses for them; or they have Ryuko as their waifu and hate how she ends up in a relationship with Mako; or much simpler answer, homophobia
@@sketchystreet1if it could happen with Evangelion, I'm sure it could happen with Kill la Kill. Maybe ppl in general are just media and art illiterate, maybe it's just weebs, idk
When you try to cook a meal and the page with recipe tells you about how useful it is for your ear muscles and how a random guy created it because they didn't have a way to cook their food in the sand while predators are hunting them.
@@jesuisboogie7945recipes often have way too long stories about the persons life and history with the recipes, leading to many places you get recipes having a skip to recipe button
Why do you actually manage to tackle topics like these so deeply and well while keeping up your humor THATS KINDA INSANE, mad respect for the way you articulate.
7:14 Holy hell, based. You definitely nailed a lot of underlying reasons behind some icky tropes in media and real life, and your video style is comedic as always!
I am so glad you talk about Belial. In general, for being a videogame based on a silly little gacha game that just wants to steal my money, Granblue Fantasy is a masterclass when it comes to characters owning their sexuality. Hell, I'm a cis white guy who loves big badonkadongs alot (unsurprising with that profile pic, I know), but I want to see more guys like Belial. The absolute confidence he has while saying the worst yet hottest things is just mesmerizing. Also his theme is a banger, despite the fact that it has "call me anal retentive" as a lyric.
absolutely love the influx of video essays you've been putting out. the mix of genuine discussion and your regular absurd comedy is really a style i don't see often. can't wait to see what you write next!
I mean, Bayonetta 2 is probably what sold her to the Queer community. The first time I played it, I thought it was subtext for her being queer. Even some of the official art in the extras seem to kind of run with the idea.
I think about this concept a lot myself. For a fighting game I'm developing, I made a character named Quwene who's story explores a somewhat different angle of this problem. She's a celebrity who's typically portrayed in over-sexual ways by the companies she works for. But rather than using her as a simple fanservice character, her story instead will focus on the mental health effects of being sexualized and how that affects your self image and how you think of your own body. As a person, being oversexualized can make you see your body less as an extension of you and more as an asset that you own and control, which can lead to a lot of weird dysphoria. It can also warp your view of sex as a concept. That's what I'd like to explore in her story. Also this video made me realize I wasn't subscribed yet. Sorry about that
4:48 I just wanna say that I had a huge mouthful of instant ramen and almost spat the whole thing out when I heard that. You almost made me do a ramen spit take. Well done sir.
Honestly my thoughts on sexualisation in media is: 1. It has to not treat the women as a sexual object (as stated). 2. It has to be within consent, (in all aspects including age). 3. Preferably, it should not be overly unrealistic with proportions. 4. Preferably, it should be in a situation / setting where sexualisation is REASONABLE for the character. 5. This somewhat overlaps with number 2 and 4, but preferably it should obey whatever form of public decency is appropriate (yes I know this notion is relative and varies from society and person, but most of us agree that different situations encourage different presentation).
Rad Chad the mad lad and also sometimes my dad needs to be updated to Rad GIGACHAD the mad lad and also sometimes my dad. This video had such balls they dangled under the time line and hydraulic pressed the sub button.
The fact he pulled up a megamikey drawing tutorial afterwards after we did that whole journey, nothing but the best quality content you will see on the rad chad youtube channel.
Not going to lie, this video is actually great. Explaining that being hot/sexual does not mean being treated sexually without your consent is a message I think a lot of people (including me) needed to hear. Thanks for the good stuff Rad Chad, the man perhaps my dad.
There's also to note that something a lot of women me included find hot is not even the physical appearance of someone, but their * demeanor *. I don't find Belial that attractive, sure he's well built and dresses well and everything, cool, but what I like is that he's PROUD of it. He fuckin OWNS it. In the exact same way Bayonetta does. What's truly hot isn't even hotness, it's the ability to be proud of your own form of hotness.
When I picked up the first GB Versus game for PS4, I downloaded the system theme, which was of Belial specifically. Knowing nothing about Granblue, I found his design to be outside my interests, and I've still yet to play far enough to see him in motion. However, now that I've seen him in motion... _I mean...!_
As someone who had a lot of these questions (and a fan of Belial), this video just made me feel so much happier, like the weight of guilt was lifted off my chest. Thank you.
Spazzing all over my keyboard rn over the fact that you delivered ONCE AGAIN. I fucking love you dude‼️‼️‼️ This video has helped my self esteem? confidence? a lil bit with how I decide to customize my FF14 characters (or just all/some characters in general). I just- really dislike it when people get real nitpicky with my designs sometimes because "UWAAA it's so revealing???" but I really feel the need to do this not only for fun (I guess?) but also because I'm still trying to reclaim my sexuality after being ab**ed. Thank you thank you thank you I hope this makes sense! I'm still trying to recover from the "LETSFUCKINGOOOOOO" energy after watching this video. You go into depth so well and it's just-- amazing. You're amazing. ❤
Banger video tbh, I love the way you've integrated humour with such a complex topic. I was going to hit subscribe, only to realise I already was subscribed! You're a refreshing voice in this general sphere of fighting games/art focused channels
Genuinely came here for a tutorial because I struggle a lot drawing breasts. I was NOT expecting this but good god I loved it anyway. This is shit I've had in my mind for years and you just came and put it all in a video.
Great video, funnily enough I only was interested when I scrolled through the preview and realized it wasn’t an actual tutorial, what’s even better is the mikeymegamega at the end lmao
This entire video is resonating so hard with me. Drawing boobs was such a worrisome task for me when I was younger, but seeing I'm not the only one who felt like it for the same reasons is nice.
added this to a youtube playlist i have for art tutorials, and decided that tonight would be the night that i lock in and learn to draw a good boob, but alas, a video essay on some of my favorite art. ya got me, ya fooled me hook line and sinker, take the subscription, you've earned it
But where does sexuality ends and indecent exposure begins what could be seen as expressing one sexuality could be seen by another as unwanted nude exposure?
6:21 Factual error: the gays don’t want to strut Bayonetta’s stuff, Bayonetta struts the gay’s stuff. Much of her movement and combat is inspired by Vogue dance, a style which arose from LGBT Black and Latino communities and is generally associated with drag performance.
The way you touch on very serious topics in a light hearted way yet being educational is really amazing. But could you please tell me your dna results. Mom said no more pop tarts until you pay child support again.
Rad chad every video you make is a masterpiece. I have watched your past many videos with a big dumb smile on my face. You take very interesting and important topics and present them in a great and enjoyable way. I really appreciate you :)
Damn I've actually been struggling with the ethics of this, thank you radical chadical for explaining basedness to the illiterate masses. The way you make judith butler cultural marxism iphone vuvuzela into simultaneously funny and sincere educational content is much epic.
