The best character to study for anime expressions is Aang from TLAB. He’s bald so you can always see his whole head and he’s well drawn

Tbh, I have hard time drawing happy, fun, naive character, but in term of making them look resentful, depressed, shocking in despare, then im a genius when creating that.

One Piece is probably the best for seeing a vide variety of emotions on various facial structures and types. Oda is one of the only artists who doesn't stick to a similar basic shape for all characters and his creations tend to be extremely unique and brimming with character. Oh and of course, the exaggerated emotions, but also the subtle ones whenever needed.
