Just watched the Corporate Goth video and now this one gets published, what a lovely surprise. So here's my comment 1. We NEED more corporate goth videos pleeeeaaaase (and such a shame we couldn't see your outfits from head to toe 😢) and 2. The energy you give off is sooo soothing and fun, the way you talk and express yourself in itself makes me want to watch all your videos. Thank you so much for your channel!!! ♥️🖤
I definitely need to work on making videos that show the whole outfit so definitely my bad 🫠 my office is just kind of small lol but yes more corp goth videos coming!! And thank you so much for your kind words 🖤
Agreed that Corporate Goth needs even more fashion videos on here. Silky's content is very interesting. She always articulates herself very, very well. To the point wherein I actually appreciate the extra minutes that her videos last. 🦇🐈⬛🖤🖤🎃🦇
I love your makeup! Its minimal and beautiful and embraces your eye shape. In my mestizo culture, people don’t appreciate aztec or smaller hooded eyes. I want to try out the 1920s makeup where blush is placed around the eyes, so my small eyes don’t feel so bare.
Great, insightful video! Do you ever plan on talking about how to combine dark essences? Because that‘s something that I’m struggling with, I‘m a (self diagnosed) mix of gamine and ethereal with a bit of classic and I don’t know how to combine those into a somewhat coherent look, especially since gamine and ethereal feel very different from one another and a lot of the recommendations for those essences are basically the opposite (gamine: short and structured, ethereal: elongated and flowy). Do you have any suggestions? 😅
I did consider it! I have so many videos to make on my list so I'm not sure how soon but I think making it a series on tiktok or youtube shorts will be the way to go?
@@silkymochi Awesome, I agree that shorter videos might be a good idea to explore different combos since you’re already establishing the „basics“ of each essence in your longer videos. I’m looking forward to it, thanks!
@@SICness100you could break it down to gamine = short and sharp, eclectic/fun and Ethereal = long and soft , alien/angelic This can be translated to a long flowy skirt with a cropped satin top in a contrasting colour/pattern , a hip belt or a shirt tied around the hip and some eclectic jewellery, pointy shoes and wavy hair or a pair of frayed denim shorts, a butterfly effect top , necklaces with rough semi precious stones and lace up metallic heels. Hope this helps
loved seeing nana here!! i’m a gamine and i cosplay her so i think ive been pulling from these inspirations instinctually but this whole video was so reaffirming for my style 🥰
Yes! I wish I mentioned her more but I was running on 2hours of sleep so I noticed I missed a lot lol but I think shes amazing Gamine inspiration- so glad this all resonated 🖤
When you included NANA, I knew I was on the right track 😌 but I also checked out Dolores Riordan fashion back in the day, I can definitely say that she’s now on my moodboard 😭 (especially her wedding gown…an absolute slay). I also mix FG with Dramatic aswell because I’ve been told that I give off an “aggressive/intense nature” when I dress but I just think that’s because my astro chart has alot of Saturn, Scorpio, and Aries energy 😭
Im so happy you looked into Dolores! And its so lovely mixing Gamine and Dramatic attributes since both have sharp angular features so the clothing vibes well together 🖤 Honestly I think all essences can wear baggy silhouettes just in different ways - like Dramatic looks amazing when you play with proportion & shape, Naturals look great in baggy if its in a flowy way or its still soft, Gamines look great in oversized like Zoe Kravitz does baggy band tees or the Olsen Twins in their baggy business -- so on and so forth
I have been waiting for this! Great video. I have strong gamine essence and get told I look like a pixie. I don't really have the gamine body type, I think it is more theatrical romantic, and when I wear something that leans romantic I also look harmonious. I can't quite work out how to blend the two together though and often feel sort of lost and dissatisfied with my looks even when I look "nice".
Could you do a comparison of gamine vs ingenue essence? I feel as though they can be so easily mistyped as each other 😅 you have such a wonderful way of explaining things, I’ve really loved this video series! ❤
I've noticed that too; there's a tendency to style women with gamine essence in delicate, floofy looks without regard to the sharpness and sense of mischief that is their trademark. Looking forward to the explanation on why the two essences get confused!
I've been watching all of your essence videos on repeat lately, and I'm wondering where would you put someone with a rock chick aestethic? I'm guessing that most of us here are a mixture of styles, but it helps when someone else points out something that we perhaps are not able to spot instantly :) But all in all I'm so grateful that I've found your channel! You are such an inspiration :)
While Gamines inherently felt like a mix of punk influences & the alt rock scene of The Cranberries music - old school rock, heavy metal influences feel very Dramatic, I think Joan Jett, Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to name a few but thats just style wise, any essence can have that rocker chick vibe 🖤
I don't think i have gamine essence, but i sure do enjoy listening to you talk about anything! Happy to discover Rosey though, its always good to see dark outfits on curvy bodies as i get a bit self conscious when looking for inspo sometimes and its just skinny people 🥲 Also big fan of the jellyfish background, i liked your needle graphic used to pin the fabric samples, and Gengar coming to say hi 🥰
I appreciate all of this! And yes Rosey is stunning & I love how much fun she has with her dark aesthetic, I also love the representation she brings to the dark style realm 🖤 I'm glad you noticed the new jellyfish bg! I try to experiment every week where I can, I think the needle + swatches will stay lol also Gengar says hi!
Loved this video!! I feel like both my face and body type are very textbook gamine, but I hate leaning too much into the shorter lines and compactness of the style because I think it makes me look way too young. Like even in my work clothes when I'm not making an effort to dress dark, I've still been called Wednesday before 😂I've found what works without necessarily making myself look like a teenager is to play into the sharpness, even when I go for longer and flowy-er pieces I try to find something with a sharpness to sorta 'ground' the outfit. If I'm going to wear say, a long flowy skirt then I'll go with something more 'sharp' on top like a blouse or jacket which is nicely tailored and crisp looking, or has a big angular collar etc. For hair I have the same long hair and short fringe situation as you haha, it's a classic for a reason.
Love this! And totally understandable how short lines have that effect but there are so many ways to honor your Gamine-ness and The Olsen Twins are Gamines in face/body & look amazing in long lines but they still have sharpness/boxiness in their looks so its a "choose your own adventure" journey And yes! A classic for a reason 🖤
im so so excited to see dark aesthetic for ingenue omg ❤ i suspect i have ingenue in my blend so im super excited for this one!! I also wanna know if you know how to do goth/dark aesthetic for soft autumns? I feel like im struggling here 🫶🏽
Yes to all of this! So this week I'm doing Dark Aesthetic Summers, then Ingenue will follow - but basically I will absolutely be covering all 4 seasons with tips & tricks for dark aesthetics 🖤
I don't even know what I am😭😭😭😭 I'm super duper pale like 100% colonizer blood running through my veins 😅 hourglass shape just ridiculously skinny long features? Idk super long arms neck nose legs my toes are even long HeLp😳🥺
So this series is based off of the Kitchener Essences & in my series I focus on the Face Essences so I would look into Kitchener Essences If you're looking for archetypes of the body types you're probably looking for Kibbe which I don't make videos on anymore but you can look into my playlists to see my old videos As for the the pale part lol I would look into Color Season analysis
