Once learned how to drive stick on my 5.0 I vowed to never get another performance car in an auto. My bro was looking at a 2017 SS and the salesman tried to convince him to get the auto cuz it's faster. I looked at my brother like you better not get the auto. You couldn't give me an auto now. Stick shift is where it's at.

I learned manual in my 2010 2ss camaro I've learned that it is much easier to learn on a car like ours then a car that doenst have much power. it's been over a year since and I love it. still learning the launch point when I'm at the drag strip but all in all its always better on the street

Lucky, I had to teach myself on my 2nd vehicle (91 S10 with the Iron Duke TBI 4 banger and T5 Borg Warner 5 Speed). Stalled 3 times, then was rolling. It had manual steering too, so parking lots sucked

Haven’t test driven a manual Camaro yet but I learned on my mom’s 2004 Honda Accord 5 speed. Thing has about 260k miles on it with the lowest clutch I’ve ever seen. Still it was a good car to learn on.

I died at 2:06 the fact that some people think the gas is the clutch has me dead 😂 anyway I just came here so I could figure out that reverse in the Manual 2016 Camaro because I’m getting mine Wednesday and I’ve only ever driven manual in a 5.0 mustang where 1st and reverse are combined. Basically I didn’t want to look dumb while trying to reverse because I didn’t know how. Lmfao

Okay seriously. God bless you for this video!! My little brother has a stick shift Camaro that he never taught any of us (mom included) how to start up or even drive. Well he left for the Marines 3 weeks ago and my mom needs the car moved and none of us knows how to get it started. So Sunday I’m going to go and give your advice a try and see what happens . I’m nervous lol.

Bikes have a wet clutch and dog box trans. you really gotta let the clutch out in a two step process on a car. bite point then off the pedal. and you cant hold the clutch in at lights etc without excessive wear like you can on a bike.

It's fun but it gets tiring if all you have is a manual for your daily driver it would get annoying. But a manual Camaro is a fun lil weekend toy.

Leroy Ashley I'm sure you will love it! Just take your time getting used to the car. Take it out to a flat empty parking lot and get comfortable with it.
@6ixspeedstang186
@6ixspeedstang186 7 лет назад
Leroy Ashley I learned how to drive stick on my 2017 GT during rush hour traffic of Buckhead in Atlanta. I stalled so many times simply by thinking I was in 1st when I was actually in 3rd. To me they looked very similar at the time with how close the mustang gears box is. Literally once u learn how to come off of a steep hill or reverse up a steep hill everything else is easy as hell. Learn those two things and everything else will be simple. And he's right don't take your foot all the way off the clutch in reverse because it will shoot u back fast as hell. Learn rev matching also. One BIG thing I also found out is that u CAN use the brakes to slow u down without having to mash in the clutch. U can brake damn near until the car nearly stalls which I don't do because I know how much I can stop, u just have to gauge how close u are to stalling. Once those things are mastered everything else will be easy. Get the basics down before racing also. Took me a couple weeks to learn good launching and quick shifting. Just don't accidentally throw it into second at 70 miles per hour when trying to shift from 3rd-4th during a race. Good luck.
@TheBalancePod
@TheBalancePod 7 лет назад
Well that good because I pick it up tomorrow.

@6ixspeedstang186

Leroy Ashley trust me take it on a hill and don't stop til u learn how to come off the hill.

that was awesome, I'm just learning how to start driving my ss 1le. I feel like for the SS, i need let off the clutch more to make the car move which is all most 2/3. Is that correct? give me some advice man.

What do you do for a living? Those newer SS’s are $35k... too much :/ I’m about to pull the string on a 2015 SS tho.. manual of course... gonna be my first manual ever.. only thing I’m concerned about is traffic bc of the constant stop and go bs... is it okay if I’m in 3-4 gear and just use my brakes until I hit 1000 rpm and then clutch in and neutral? Or is that wrong?
@WatchYaNeck
@WatchYaNeck 6 лет назад
Trevor Geiger generally you’re going to want to keep downshifting as your speed declines. Also try not to coast in neutral until you’re under around 10-15 mph.
@Itstrevorspov
@Itstrevorspov 6 лет назад
Watchyaneck so basically just downshift to 2nd and then brake until 1000 rpms then proceed to clutch in and neutral to a stop? I just don’t wanna get mixed up behind the wheel
@TomSidProductions
@TomSidProductions 6 лет назад
so those paddle shifters still work even though its a stick shift?
@WatchYaNeck
@WatchYaNeck 6 лет назад
Tom Sid nah they’re not paddle shifters. They just turn the rev match on and off that’s all.

at the end of the video, you can see how he did it, once he released the clutch, he immediately steps on the gas and the brake pedal, then you can play around with the gas and the brake pedal
@Rickygiff
@Rickygiff 4 года назад
LeYo ArTeesT give it gas and drop the clutch. If it’s a good clutch then the car will be fine and you’ll be peeling rubber but if you have a shitty clutch then it will burn it out
