What up player! Today, I attempt to teach you how to drive manual in my delivery van. If you can't tell already, I'm definitely a car guy, and being behind the stick keeps me sane. Maybe that's why this job fits me so well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyways, I hope I was able to help you learn a thing or two. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Let me know down in the comments :]

Putting the car/truck in 1st gear if parked on a hill prevents it from rolling backwards. Putting it in reverse prevents it from rolling forwards. As a fellow FXG driver, I wanted to add a few things: 1) These trucks are not nearly as old as you think. People saying their from the 80's... They're not. This particular truck is an International model, and this design was used until at least 2003, possibly later 2) They are incredibly slow. The engines are powerful enough, but the lack of a gear splitter makes it so your either dogging the engine or redlining it at all times 3) I've driven one. They're stupid fun, but not as a work truck. Just to roll around in one would be cool, but they're way too impractical for a package delivery application. 4) I've had people walk up to me and offer to buy it because they thought it was so cool. They garner a lot of attention, especially as Sprinter vans and cutaway cube trucks become the norm. It truly is a "Mad Max" style truck 5) There's a certain sense of pride in having one. I'm the only employee my contractor has that knows how to drive one of these things. I've taken them on charity convoys and come in on my day off to detail them. There's something special about these old trucks. I've gone as far as having considered buying one before, but decided they cost too much to maintain

is it harmful to the vehicle to leave the clutch pushed down while at a stoplight? My dad used to be a truck driver and he taught me how to drive manual. He said always shift down through the gears until you get to second or first, and then just leave your foot pushed down on the clutch and coast to a stop. I know coasting for long periods of time with the clutch is bad but I only do it for a few feet while going like 5mph before I stop. I do drive an old tdi if that helps.

@@semaj2799 it was great. when you start they will call or text where and when to meet up. for all 3 of my drivers they just told me to go put the package at the house they pointed at. maybe they'll tell you to organize the back because the loaders don't organize the box's address. they will scan the item for you with the "diad" and they'll make you take it to them if a signature is required. all my drivers were chill dudes and treated me right because they see me hurry to every stop. since they call you when they need you, they wont call you if you walk to houses so its best to walk fast. also when you deliver the package hide it from the street but keep it visible for the owner.

You probably want to have it at the bite before releasing the ebrake on a hill otherwise the thing will go rolling back lol.
