Single Father that started doing his 3yr old daughters nails. I just thought it was a good way to bond with her and remind her of me when I can't be there. I appreciate all this advice.
Kelli -- I have the PERFECT nail dry solution! Here it is: I put on my workout clothes, pull my hair back, do my manicure, and then get on the treadmill for 45 minutes. When I'm finished, they're dry!!!! 😁😁😁😁
+Diane Hickox omg Diane that's actually AWESOME, and a great way to get yourself active! (Although I'll admit I can't last on the treadmill for more than 30 😅😅) I love it!!!
Caveat: I tried to do this hack, but just jogging outside instead of on a treadmill, and it does not work in any season but winter. Even after 40 minutes in the spring/summer, my nails were still not hard & dry because they never had a chance to cool down to set.
Here I am in 2023 painting my nails at home for the first time and was getting frustrated because even after sitting for an hour my nails weren’t dry. Happy I found this video lol
I am OBSESSED with black nail polish at the moment. Literally for the past year, I've painted my nails black EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! I use the OPI natural nail base coat, the OPI nail lacquer in lady in black and then the seche vite quick dry top coat. Then, I dip my nails in a sink full of really cold water for a minute or two, dry them off and spray them with the elegant touch rapid dry nail polish spray which is awesome! I find if you spray it when the nails are mostly dry it works really well just to really set them in place. It also has vitamin E which moisturises my cuticles. Highly recommend! xx
I’ve been doing the water method for a year thanks to this video!! It’s changed my ADD life. I put a top coat on everyday to keep my color perfect the water method makes it a breeze 💦 💕
I tried thinner coats and you were SO right!! Thank you son much for this tip! I paint my nails every week and the drying situation makes me crazy!! Thank you for your video and all your gorgeous nail videos!! You're awesome! 💜
I wondered why the coats dried so easily this one time I went to a nail salon, good to know that nail polish companies don't actually manufacture their stuff to dry after 30 damn minutes or some bs
I use a quick dry top coat and then after waiting 10-15 minutes, I put cuticle oil all over my nails and then go to bed. The cuticle oil protects my nails from dents and smudges! Works so well!
Yep! Cutical oil works great! If I bump or snag or rub a nail, the oil actually works as a buffer/bumper... Ice water, and then oil. Avocado oil, sesame oil, coconut oil... even vegetable oil- Whatever you have in the kitchen- 😊
Thank you sooo much! I am so incredibly done with the bed sheet imprints.😂 I will definitely be investing in a quick dry top coat and buying a nail fan!
If you're using the water method, you need to do it after every coat. If you soak your nails after two or three coats, it will only dry the top layer, which will stop the beneath layers from drying. so be careful with that...
actually if you wet your nails while paint is not dry yet, your nails may soak up water and expand and the paint dries on the expanded nails, then your nails dry for real (get dehydrated) and polish stars to peel off because it's not tight to your now dehydrated nails.
@Jody Ford, this is super, super old, but I like Glisten and Glow’s top coat. It’s only available in the USA and Canada, but I think there are ways to get it in the UK, but you might have to research that. It’s like $6 a bottle, and with shipping, it’s usually $10-15 .
I have had my nails done professionally for almost 15 years, then I finally started doing my own. Most of your tips I totally agree with. There are two products I cannot live without. The first is Seche Vite quick dry top coat - it just works and makes my nails super shine. The last step I use right after that is Quica half time polish drying excellerator drops. This is what keeps my nails from getting wrinkles from the sheets, accidental dings from hitting things. It not only instantly dries the polish, it makes the polish harder, with no weird texture. The one down side, it is quite pricey, but if you are careful, it lasts a really long time. I have had nail techs use all kind of things - and this is the only one that just works.
+Angi Willis oh I used to use Seche Vite religiously! I still think it's a great top coat, but I've found several brands have similar formulas without the shrinking that sometimes occurs with SV! I haven't heard of those drying drops but they sound awesome. Will have to look them up :)
YOU ARE HILARIOUS!!!! LOVE IT.....I DO ALL THOSE THINGS TOO WITH THE FREEZER, AIR CONDITIONER, RUN MY NAILS UNDER THE WATER, DO ALL THAT TOO. I HAVE NO PATIENCE WAITING TO DRY UGH!!! SO SUPER EXCITED TO TRY MY CUCCIO 7 SECOND TOP COAT!!!!!!! THANK YOU
HAHAHAHa I get VERY excited about nails!!! I just love anything to do with doing nails. YAY!!!! THIS IS WHY I LOVE UR CHANNEL AND UR A GOOFBALL AT TIMES AND I LIKE THAT!!!! YOU ACT LIKE A REAL PERSON NOT A SNOB OR KNOW IT ALL. UR JUST GREAT!!
Kelli Marissa the quick dry drops that I use to dry my nails is called essence or essences. It has argon oil in it so if the quick dry drops get on your skin it can moisturize your cuticles. These quick dry drops work very well and it takes only about 10 seconds for your nails to dry when you put these drops on it.
Seche Vite topcoat is my nail polish game changer. Before I found that product my nails would never dry. Now I can achieve salon looking gel effect nails myself, especially now I know how to clean up my sloppy application too. Seche Vite dries your nails in just a couple of minutes which I love as I also run out of patience!
Sally Hansen’s drying drops actually work great - at least for me - plus, they help moisturize the skin around the nails and the cuticles. You definitely have to follow the directions - waiting at least 60 seconds after top coat and only using 1-2 drops - but that’s worth it for a great finish!
KELLI, I LOVE IT!!!!!! Just did my nails and omg what a great product. I also bought the 3 in 1 base coat....and I like that it's a ridge filler. That is important for me because then my nail polish goes on so smooth. I am in love with cuccio and kbshimmer :-)
Bought the Cuccio 7 Second Top Coat for $5.99 on Amazon. Got lucky with that price! Applied it today, and all (except the Wet n' Wild polish) dried in 30 minutes! The Wet n' Wild did this accordion thing when I jumped in the shower. Luckily I was able to "gently" push it back in place. Doesn't look great. But the rest do! Can't believe that worked! Thank you!
Dumping your nails in ice water doesn't actually make it dry faster. The nail polish becomes more viscous as it cools which makes it seems like it's dried, but actually now that it's cooled down the solvent will take more time to dry up properly. Maybe what's happening with your tap water trick is actually that the running water is slowly dissolving away the solvent contained in the nail polish.
A lot of people I know seem to hate ESSIE nail polish, but I love it. The nail polish and the Good To Go top coat dries wicked fast for regular polish.
I primarily paint my toes, so the quick drying thing is super important. I also wear tight climbing shoes, so if they're not dry, they get squished and ruined. I do several fun layers and designs, so I'm gonna try these techniques and definitely buy that fast drying top coat!! I think some of my polishes have gotten thick too, so they haven't been going on in nice thin layers, like you recommend. Gonna pick up some of that thinner you used.
Thank you for your tips and honesty. You inspire me to be more creative and I learn something new everytime I watch your videos. I love your imperfections because nobody's perfect and you do everything gracefully.
I didn't use to be a big believer in the drying sprays, but my mind was changed when I discovered the Formula X spray. I really like it, and it always seems to work well for me.
Always ran my nails under a cold faucet. Don't remember when I learned that but it absolutely works. Also; I've been using Seche Vite dry fast top coat. Works fast and gives the nails a gel coat look that lasts. :)
Ice cube with cold water 100% worked... Tried while I was watching this video. Left both my fingers for 1 min 35 sec cause I had 2 good coats on. Absolutely amazing.wish I new sooner
I just have to tell you how much I love watching your videos. I've tried watching so many other peoples channels and I just can't get into any others. You make me laugh everytime, and you're so quirky...like I feel like we would be friends if I didn't live in a different state 😂.
Color club dry ice drops really help me avoid denting my polish personally. Although the polish does ripple if you use it too quickly. I like to wait about 1 minute before actually using the drops.
I always use cold sink water too! I also have quick-dry drops from Sally Hansen and they work well for me (but they do leave an oily residue, so I only use them for the top coat).
+Jazzy Rodriguez thanks so much Jazzy! I actually bought HK girl top coat a couple of years ago and it smelled so much like cigarette smoke that I had to throw it out even after airing it out for a few days :(
Defy & Inspire Top Coat is heaven sent. Dries fast, dries hard, no more bed sheet marks or smudging. It was a Christmas present from my sister and it's the only top coat I use now. Seriously.
I use fast dry top coat and I also spray opi rapid dry spray. It's awesome. It helps ensure the polish does dry fast and leaves a moisturizing element after which I love especially after cleaning up with acetone.
U r sooo right, Love, and everything u're saying make so much sense. We get into trouble when we're in a hurry and don't let every coat of polish dry completely. Lol. Thanks, Hon'!
I am not a huge fan of drops either but i did find that works with the kinds of nail polishes I use anyways without changing my texture. Maybe the type combinations matter making it difficult? But it works for me speeds it up. Mine was called Essence (I would in no way recommend their top coats). Would use a different top coat. Setting up the ice water can be annoying for some but yes it certainly works the best out of all methods I have ever tried. Point is there are multiple methods you pick the ones best to you. Depending on how much time i have i pick diff methods. I typically watch a movie or show while doing nails so I have time for multiple methods. The ice bowl method is really not hard if you reuse a cheap dollar store bowl over and over for whenever you want to do this method. I also always have Ice in my freezer on hand for drinks so Obtaining ice when needed is not hard for me either. Find what works for you! Her vid is still great and accurate!
Wow he did a great job. I bought one that hangs on my wall and hold 200 nail polishes. Like I said I am obbsessed with nail polish, stamps, art, etc I am in the process of organizing mine. I'll post a pic when I get done. I love it. But urs is cool cause it's righ tthere by your table and probably spins. He is very talented!!!!
Since I started using my seche vitte fast drying top coat my life changed! Used to used the one from essence but didn't dry as quick. The best thing is to spend a little bit more in a good top coat 😊. Love your videos and would love to do one inspired in one of your manicured, but no without your permission. Love from Spain
+Alice Land oh yes I used to use seche vite all the time! It's a great top coat :) I'm so glad you like my videos! You're welcome to do content inspired by me of course, but I would ask that you mention that you were inspired by me :)
+danceypants93 oh my gosh thanks so much!! I use the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation, it's my fave :) but I also used a new concealer from Graftobian in this vid - I think it's their HD palette? It's a clear packaging and it's got 5 colors in it, it's also great for contouring!
OMG Evan kills me, shut up! Make a sign no farting allowed in bright red nail polish! 💅. I used to use drying drops, which work great, but now the quick dry top coat works awesome! You should do stand up comedy, you're hilarious. hahahahahahaha! I love the new office. 😁💕. You made me laugh, and made my night. Thx Kelli! XO
+RonneeSue Scott I can't believe him lol he was bored so I said he could hang out in my nail polish room and of course he lets out a huge fart while I'm filming! SMH hahaha 😩 I'm happy you enjoyed the video despite the farter! Love ya!
Ha! And I'm watching this at 9:30 in pj's 😋 I'd like to know what kind of nail fan you have if you use it often. I like the tip about stinking your hands in the freezer, I tend to open and stand in the doorway of the freezer anyway on hot days, might as well dry my nails at the same time! 😜 as always I love your videos and humor, thank you for sharing!
+Elisabeth West hey Elisabeth! I believe it's called Belson? (Sorry, I have it in the description but I'm on mobile app so I can't see it haha) And your nails are a totally good excuse to stick your head in the freezer on a hot day LOL that's my favorite!!
I've done the running cold trick. It did seem to dry a tad quicker. Right I'm using two QD top coats, KBShimmer Clearly on Top and Sally Hansen Big Kwik Dry Top Coat. I like both of them.
I have been using Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat and Insta Dri polish for years and I love how well they work. My nails have been splitting and peeling for years. 🤔 Lightbulb moment!!!💡 The fast drying products are causing my nails to split and peel. I stopped using these quick dry products for a few months now and low and behold...no more splitting or peeling! Now I am just struggling with the long dry time.☹️
Thank you for your videos. They've really helped me, as a dad, to get up to speed. Even though I tell her not to, my daughter (7) often uses her thumb to 'self-test' the dryness of her own nails (think of it as a reverse snapping / flicking motion). Even though she thinks she's being gentle, it's almost always too much force and she ends up dragging the semi-dried paint right off. I can't even 'fix' it at that point, I just have to start over on that nail. Question: If I'm applying a base coat, 2-3 coats of polish, and a top coat, how long should it be before a 7 year old can go off and play? Thanks.
One hour, that's if they're careful not to bump their nails afterward. I don't think they will 😭 And do thin coats. I usually paint my nails before bed. I wait for at least one hour. When I wake up they're completely dry and hard. You know, even if they're dry to touch they're still squishy(?) for hours. Wait. Do most 7 y.o kids now paint their nails? When I was 7 I loved to play in the mud after school. Or riding bicycle and getting bruises, scrapes, and wounds. I was that reckless and wild. It doesn't help that I'm the youngest kid. I think my parents were probably tired of pampering and treating my older sister like a princess, so they let me do whatever I like 😂
@@aprilianindy3200 PokeKid does like getting her nails done. But she also does all the kids things too so her nails are usually trashed in a couple of days. But it's not about the polish, it's about the bond.
My tricks are to always have the AC blasting when I do my nails (even in winter because it's Southern California and it never really gets that cold) so the air around me gets as cold as possible (and sometimes I'll have a couple fans set up for good measure) to help the polish dry as fast as possible, between coats I'll scroll through tumblr or youtube or read an article on my laptop, and when doing nail art I always use a timer for the top coat (set to no less than 15 minutes but usually closer to 30 just to be safe) or I'll watch a movie or TV show between the top coat and the art just to be sure it's dry and to help make the time go faster.
+Taylor Romano those are great tips, Taylor! I like to watch Netflix or RU-vid while I'm painting so I don't feel like it's so long of a wait between coats :)
Taylor Romano Great tip about the timer, I should do that on each layer. I also watch tv, read a book, play a game on my phone, check out Instagram, etc while my polish dries. It also helps to do cuticle cleanup between layers because 1) it's easier before the layer totally dries and 2) it gives time for the layer to dry. LOL
Ok I'm SUPER late to this video but OH DID YOU SAVE MY LIFE! I have quite long nails and I decided to do them, but the nail polish wouldn't dry fast enough so I found this video and it helped a lot, thanks:)
HeyitsGina! Hmmmmm. Wait for layers to dry completely before adding another. Maybe your topcoat is too thick or maybe you're going over it too many times.
There can be incompatibilities between base or top coats and polish, and this can cause bubbling. Also I got bubbles once when using a fan to dry the polish faster, it made it bubble since the surface was drying faster than the underneath.
ok. so I ADORE you, and you just stepped it up 1,000 points. Farts. Are. Hysterical. I grew up w 2 brothers and got married and had 2 sons. Farts are a way of life for this woman. Also, pajamas are life. Work it. And drooling...just yes. Just....this entire video was everything I needed today! Thank you for the tips too btw. I am going to try the cold water and thinner coats. You seriously rock my dear!! ((hugs))
Stina Altheide My family finds farts to be the highlight of hilarity...my grandpa alone drove the point home. He have his three granddaughters fart themed nicknames. God I miss that man! Lol
+Stina Altheide hahaha unfortunately farts are a way of life in our apartment as well. But evan prefers to fart when I'm very close, so I can appreciate it with him :| lol! I'm glad you liked the video!
Hahaha...ugghh my husband too! lol....or he always always says Tabby! right after like I did it..i mean every time lol. I love you hair and videos btw. I would love to see even more nail art ideas from you. See I use to bite my nails..literally ALL my life! Even my kids do it lol. Well, I am now pregnant with our 5th child and finally stopped biting my nails and starting doing nail art as a hobby instead. I am definitely not up to your level yet (haha) but I try. And I am getting better by watching you. Thanks for everything chick. And give me more art. lol
In waiting for your coats to dry, I assume they should not be tacky before doing next coat, correct? I use a spray on last coat, or in between when doing effects with extra coats, making sure to wait at least 15 seconds and not to hold too close. LOVE YOU CHANNEL. You're super cute and super fun :)
+Christine Cherniski hey Christine, thanks so much! I usually wait until the polish is mostly dry to the touch. So you could technically smudge it, but not just from a light touch! :)
Over the years I have managed to do a few of the quick dry ideas , but as always you have given me some new ones ! I'm still in my purple faze , bit worried as it's been months now lol
I watch a lot of your videos. I too was under the impression that you were applying a thick coat of polish. I started doing the same thing with disastrous results. Thank you for clarifying. I am a new nail tech; age 70; retired teacher.
Could you review pure ice nail polish, it's my favorite brand and the only brand I use... They last a long time too, even when being ignored for 5 years they work perfectly fine! (That was not an understatement, I shoved them in a closet for 5 years and then rediscovered them..)
Lol I love your awkward humor. Also the whole "Its like.. 9:30.. its pretty late" that is literally me. I'm sixteen I feel like I should be a wild child and going out to parties but oh my god why would you when you can sleep tbh
Quick dry top coat plus dry drops are a must. Been loving morgan taylor accelerate quick dry drops. Yet you gotta angle your nail downward because if you have your hand resting flat on a table the drop could bounce right off! So strange.
"i get so exicted about talking about nail polish i drool" me: oh same hhahaha but kelli i have a pure ice matte top coat that dries within 2 seconds i love it so much
I use Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Spray and I really like it. I’m in the UK so I’m not sure if you can get it where you are but I’d like to hear your thoughts on it
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sally Hansen Insta Dry Top Coat! Plus I use a $29.99 UV light I bought from Rite Aid. I use the in between coats and at the end of course. Nails dry so quick!! No more lying like a mummy to prevent sheet wrinkles!
