I haven't been hooked to a computer to see what's really happening, but over the past few days, trying to rotate into trail side bend as described in Milo's last two videos has had a host of amazing domino effects bringing my bad drives of 190 to 230 up to 250, and my good drives from 250 to high 260s, 70s, and yesterday 293 on a par 5, 40 yards longer than my previous best there. I'm 66 years old. I'm also now able to work a lefty fade around doglegs left, and I'm thrilled to find it's often flying further than my draw. In short, I've always been a flipper, had trouble opening my body with good balance and shoulder tilt, which also made it harder to "hit late" and reach impact with my hands at my front thigh. Now it feels natural. I've had a couple crazy pushes, but 70% of my drives have been dead center. I think this is a case where this specific swing thought turns my ugly "before video" into a smooth, clean "after" that I never thought I'd achieve - along with hitting a 7 iron into a par 5.(3 putt for par though 🙁) Down side is pending divorce after intimate moment where I called my wife "Milo."
@@nickl.20 we have burned that bridge not wrong just using different terms for movements than what they are labeled in the gears system we have reconciled.
This looks like it was filmed at the Lines residence. Milo: "I'm going out to film a video." Mrs Lines: "NOW !!!! Can't it wait until tomorrow." Milo: "NO it can't wait until tomorrow Tomorrow will be too late and people will want to see it on Friday morning and then try it at the range before Saturday." Mrs Lines: "OH REALLY?" MILO: "YEAH REALLY. Everyone keep the noise down." Mrs Lines: "is it important?" Milo: "its about How to Dynamically Get the Arms Down" Mrs Lines: "Oh for God's sake Milo, honestly, it's like living with a child sometimes. You've had all day to do this and you decide to do it now.... [the following rant into the distance writes itself]
At the end of the day no 3D system is perfect yet because last time I checked 3D markers are not attached to our bones and thus can move with the clothes and are not an exact representation of the skeletal system. And don't be started on that pseudo 3D AI stuff either. Lots of extrapolations/approximations.. so whatever feel works is what matters..Getting too lost in the weeds hasn't helped me so far so I listen to both sides of the story and make my own decisions. Let's keep it civil boys so we can all learn from each other. But I do applaud Milo for being a gentleman about this.
First side bend video i watched was milo with be better golf. The video intrigued me. Not many youtubers talk about the concept of side bend in there online lessons, they beat around the bush. If you can understand the concept of side bend/ maintaining spine tilt/ bend and are able to put it in practise so many things will automatically fall into place. Milo thanks for taking time to explain. Amg guys are explaining the concept aswell, All trying to help us improve. Pleased with all the info i can get. Keep up great work
Hi Joshua. Try finding some of the MORAD content on RU-vid. There are some references there to sidebend, and Mac O'Grady demonstates this clearly, making it easy to see what he means. I hope this is of help to you. With best regards.
It seems like golf instruction is a bit like flat earth, it's pointless trying to argue with those that think the earth is flat 🤣 This motion was previously pointed out by one of the greatest ballstrikers in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wQqqF1UHi14.html, who was also a fan of the baseball swing. Milo's swing 'method' has more flexion than some swingers, and Hogan, but that extra flexion seems beneficial for club face stability and simplicity.
I don’t know about the flat earth concept but it is disheartening that instead of coaches saying “in my opinion “ they feel the need to call others out. This isn’t doing the game any good. Coach Riley from elite golf schools may have said it best IMO on a podcast when he said people generally fall into two categories 1) throwers and extenders or 2) flexes and rotates. The HOF are full of both types of players. As I’ve stated many times, when all is said and done, you have 3 questions, 1) what creates the most speed, 2) what creates the most face control, 3) what’s easiest on the body.
@@edlasatergolf I think I've missed the calling out part in this video - must be subtle and I've watched it a couple of times. Seems to me Milo is pretty careful about saying that this is in his opinion all the time. I've been looking at videos on the left/right sidebend stuff for a while now but it was a comment you made in a video featured on Milos channel that gave me the right feel for it to work for me.
@@edlasatergolf Mostly in Milo's noodle! You have to ask yourself this question, Can Milo read a Gears front bend graph and not mix it up with a side bend graph while using that to prove AMG wrong...lol!!
Ive always been a fan of Milo and even came out to see him for a lesson. I also like AMG content. AMG videos have helped me better understand what milo was teaching me and I’m better now for it! I appreciate both styles of teaching and both can be very helpful.
@@MiloLinesGolf thx Milo.. I have wide feet and they look very comfy.. do u have any video on not hitting AT the ball... ive seen lots of videos on how to hit through the ball, but my mind is stuck on that damn ball.. when I swing without a ball its smooth and effortless..
Just saw you over at BBG and saw your rear swing, must admit looking good Mr Lines, keep up hard work its starting to pay off, nice & tight (are you trying to bulk up or introduce more flexibility) . . looks like I have to get off my fat ass and start exercising.
@@MiloLinesGolf I can understand why your training, your schedule must be full on but remember to look after yourself, there is only one Milo Lines, your family needs you as we all need you, please.
I find your descriptions of the athletic movement in the golf swing so fascinating. In this video, your head appears to drop a foot or so when you recenter. Do you think that’s an exaggeration while demonstrating your point, or do you actually compress that much? Thanks!
@@MiloLinesGolf that’s what I figured. I’m a 6’4” 61 year old with a finicky back. I have a hard enough remaining in posture, let alone compressing a foot. Love your videos. Thanks so much for responding
No forces are acting every which way, you're creating that. It's your fault not GEARS, Gears measures what you do...did any golf instructors see forces at anytime in the whole history of golf instruction? ...No but they still went on to teach even though they had no clue...just eyeballing it...things have changed and Tour players use all the available data to help them so in a way data does hit a golf ball!
I feel AMG sometimes isolates aspects of the swing in a vacuum. In this case, as if the arms are static relative to the torso. The arms appear to drop due to the pelvis and chest mechanics in transition and bend to cover the ball. I've never used gears but I'd assume that even the nodes get fooled by the kenetic sequence of the arms mechanically moving up, while simultaneously physically dropping in space. Anyhow... How does grip strength or weakness contribute towards the amount of arm lift or drop if at all? Thanks!
I was working on keeping the arms feeling like they stay elevated in the first part of the downswing, and I was hitting the ball so well with ball first contact. I normally drop the arms down, but instead I was kind of letting them stay elevated longer. I cant believe how much easier it was making good contact. It also allowed me to release later in the swing. All the instruction says drop in the slot, and I have been doing this for years, but, keeping the arms feeling like they don't drop until later just made the swing so much easier and contact so much better.
in my humble opinion = all golf coaches are trying to help; all of our bodies are different, no one path is going to work for everyone. Improvements to my nearly 60 year old body swing will be different to a teenager (I know I could never do Milo's swing -not that it is wrong, I am just not flexible at my old age). Stick to the voice that helps you improve, find a teacher that you connect with and translates this awkward motion that is a golf swing in a way that helps you improve. Enjoy this short time on earth and stop watching every video (wasting time) and chasing tips (for issues you probably don't have) - have a pro diagnose and prescribe fixes... Rock on Milo!
My head is now blown by the comments between yourselves and AGM 🤯 I’m just a guy that loves golf that wants to improve my game. I put a lot of time and effort into practicing so I look forward to you guys getting together and finding common ground and clarity in explaining this. I suspect you both are correct and it may simply be a difference in terminology but either way, I think a unified approach would be good OR simply to stay out of commenting on each other’s channels. I can’t see the benefit in trying to correct someone else even if they got it wrong. The responsibility ultimately sits with me to figure out what I want to take forward but I do think you both are talking about something that makes the difference between an average golfer and a great golfer so will stay with it and continue to follow you guys. Golf is the hardest game and explaining it is even harder so I do appreciate all your time and effort in dong this. You are obviously passionate about what you do. On a side note, I follow what ZEN golf are doing and it is interesting to see the difference in teaching methods between micro and macro movements. A lot of swinging the club is a natural motion but to be better at swinging the club, for me there has to be some technical understanding of good positions or movements throughout the swing. Thanks again for your commitment to the game and wanting to improve the game of golf with your content. ⛳️
You bet Mark, we have since connected and things are good now. We certainly don't share in the same philosophies, but that's ok. I've always said there are different matchups and not one way, I just have my preference and like to share it here. There will be more I will be sharing on these topics moving forward. Thanks for following along!
Thanks for all the content Milo! Does this work as well for the taller player 6’4 who have been given longer slightly upright clubs? I feel that this idea of shallow/perpendicular to the body is great for normal height/shorter players but does it work the same way for us taller folks with short arms? (Maybe the concept of fitting me with longer more upright clubs was just lazy fitting but there is no way wife wife is going to let me get a new set haha!)
Maybe this video will clear up the message I was attempting to convey here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Er8WD6Ui6I.htmlsi=xu5HNuXPVrrMoIc4
Can you speak to head movement? I’ve been told, since starting golf some 35 years ago, not to move my head; some point to Jack having his hair held throughout the swing. I’m confused by not moving my head to how much it moves when squatting down. Please help 🤯
Perhaps these videos could help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KPcxoncuNTc.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b9oXxUWKhSw.html
@@MiloLinesGolf Thank you so much for the suggested videos; they helped me. Your instructional style and golf knowledge are one in a million. All the best.
I'm confused.... In the original Milo video did the referenced graph demonstrate side bend or forward bend? If forward bend, does the analysis materially change?
Exactly, it demonstrated front bend but milo thought it was saying side bend. So he had it as confirmation that players “bounce” into right bend. But, AMG thoroughly showed he doesn’t know how to read basic gears data, and that his whole theory of bouncing into right bend is entirely untrue. The pros go into right bend most after impact.
@@AthleticMotionGolf your comment on this channel just proves how petty you are. You can’t teach people how to play golf so you attack others. Knowing GEARS doesn’t make you a good teacher. I can testify to that. You have been riding Scott Hamilton’s coat tail too long
@@AthleticMotionGolf I hope this is a soon to be fired social media intern posting these comments. The petty response is an embarrassment of your brand and reflects poorly on both your leadership team and company culture.
by the way we’ve moved one from this topic but after consulting with a few spinal surgeons and chiropractors they have shown me exactly why front bend was the correct measurement because when the spine is rotated 45 degrees or more in the backswing/transition that front bend creates thoracic side bend due to the rotation in the spine exactly as I have described.

None of yall ever took a lesson from amg themselves. As a college golfer, I went to them for the concept of lowering my arms to my back hand pocket leaving me stuck and out of control club face. I lost 30 yards of distance and could not get off the tee box to save my life. Milo concepts are what every pga tour player like jon rahm is doing. Gets to the top and immediately uses the ground force and his body to rotate the club face square and achieve maximum speed and distance
@ Rorster You have no idea what Rahm does! You were stuck because you never used the lower part of your body in conjunction with lowering the arms. Hackers are hackers for a reason they just can't co-ordinate the movements needed to produce a decent golf swing, that's why they take lessons and scour you tube for tips and they do that for years and years never improving. Some do but most don't. Milo has a preference and it might fit some but not everyone. It's like getting the lottery numbers right, someone gets them but most don't. That applies to all instructors that teach a method!
For those who seek a better and more complete understanding of this and all golf swing movement, Athletic Motion Golf is unquestionably the gold standard. Milo tries, bless his heart.
@@AthleticMotionGolf Your video response was thoughtful. However, posting rude & unnecessary comments, basically turning your brand into an internet troll, is a horrendous misstep. As a professional colleague I recommend you step away from the keyboard, pick up the phone, and have a 1:1 discussion and exchange of ideas. The AMG leadership team should be mortified by these actions.
By the way, just to back up what Milo is saying, go check out Claude Harmon’s lesson with Rick Shiels. Clearing the hip and not stalling out the body which would lead to early extension. Claude and Milo seem to be teaching the same fundamentals. And I think Mr Harmon’s resume is pretty good.
@@martynzl Did you watch the video? Harmon tells him the hips fire, then the upper body, then the arms and then the club. He tells him body is stalling out. He doesn’t tell him to pull his arms down to stop early extension. This is What AMG was telling me. They said if I pull my hands towards my pocket I could THEN rotate as hard as wanted. This caused a two way miss that took me out of competition for over a year and every time I went back to them they gave me another swing thought. My brain was jello after that. They are terrible teachers.
@@Lacesout6627 that sequence of instructions goes right back to the Hogan book and his instruction, nothing new there. I watched the video with Claude but wasnt very impressed, everybody wants to be hugely technical but it seems to me that Milo has a much clearer view of what is all about.
I have taken multiple “in person “ lessons with AMG . They are the most unprofessional people I have met in the golf industry. First, they showed up in gym shorts and a hoodie. Second, they were on their phone the whole time. And then Shaun gave me THREE different swing thoughts that went against what they teach online. all for the wonderful price of $500 per lesson. Just because you know GEARS doesn’t make you a good teacher. Just like if you know human anatomy doesn’t make you a doctor. I have never taken an in person lesson from Milo, but since watching his videos I have gotten most of my distance back and I my trajectory is much lower. Plus he seems more professional.
