Another good tip is to just use a keese eyes or any eyes on your arrows they will track the eyes and go strait to them so you won’t need a boost into the air and you won’t need a shield (metal) either and for your sword only take it out when you gonna hit him because your sword is probably metal and at a certain point you metal will attract the electricity hope that helps
I had no idea about the keese eyeball arrows. That helped so much when the king gleeok does his second part of flying high up in the air. You are the greatest
For the metal attracting the electricity, can't you just wear the Rubber Armor which will make you shock-proof? And if you want to boost your attack you can also just drink an elixir to boost your attack power
Fire and ice gleeok take slightly more damage from the element that opposes it, so use that to your advantage if dps is low. Two handed weapons like claymores work nice for using the spin to Land many hits on the heads. Thunder gleeok specifically you can cook shockfruits into food that boosts damage in thunderstorms if your lacking in resources. Last thing is a multishot bow is your best friend. Single fuse with a Keese eye can down it in one shot should it line up correctly
Use keese eyeball and attach to your arrow every time you shoot. You don’t need to aim because it will hit at your target for you. Just aim at the head n release those arrows.( use savage lynel bow which shoots out 3 arrows at a time) this apply to all beasts in this game. You have those eyeballs from killing those bats and other monsters.
Good tips, especially for open world encounters. For the Coliseum encounter specifically, though, I find that if you use Ascend to get to the higher levels of the structure before Gleeok (as you say, not getting greedy with the hits while Gleeok is on the ground), it's not difficult to then jump down and enter "bullet time" mode. Apparently, Gleeok also has a unique final attack when he starts flying extra high near the end, but, like you, I always defeat him before letting that play out.
Just fought a frost gleeok and threw everything at it. Aerocuda and keese eyes, bomb flowers, and rewinded one of the ice spikes he drops from his last phase to finish him off in slow motion w the arrows and finally realized I could’ve done that the whole fight most likely. Fought him in real time from the ground and it was a nightmare.
What I did to get in the air was attach rockets to all the shields I had, don't know if it is easier or not, but it worked for me! Also the keese eye ball on the arrows are a great help for those of us with terrible aim LOL
Gotta love it when a Gleeok flies above the 2nd floor on the Coliseum and you knock it down from the ground, but it’s heads dangle from the floor, so you can’t perform strong melee attacks on it. As if they aren’t frustrating enough.
Some monsters are more of a gear check than about perfect execution of strategy. It took you a ton of hits to get that boss down even with your 50+ damage weapons. Should probably let people know they can't do this without having the right gear or having a lot of food and hearts and time. It might take 30 minutes to fight the boss.
I found this out the hard way early on unfortunately. v.v Several retries later. Even using the buildings for cover eventualy those hard to outrun attacks caught up to me. And it took 3+ hits per head to take them out.
I've used the rocket shield trick for launching up in the air to target the heads. It's probably more foolproof then jumping on the spring each time. You can attach multiple free rockets to all your shields on a ton of sky island locations. The keese eye ball arrow trick is a game changer for when he flies super high in the air.
Not how I would do it. I would probably just attach wings to the shield and do a shield jump and that gets you bullet time. You won't get as much air but it should be fine if you do it before the gleeok gets too high.
everytime i see a rocket anywhere i fuse it to one of my shields - that would definitely be easier than the spring method bc it’s one step instead of two, tho i haven’t tried to kill one of these yet 😂😅
Perfect vid. I heard spring board and I didn't need to think too hard. NGL I honestly play the game the unintentional way. I beat 3 of the Big Bosses before I even attempted to upgrade my armor.
Careful with device dispenser, each has its own devices. Overall get to one that dispenses springs. For the final stage of the fight, when the Gleeok soars high, combine three springs so you get higher and shoot downwards straight.
I've been using elemental keese eyeballs or chu jellies with a 3 or 5 shot bow. I usually start the fight coming in from above so I can use bullet time to start the battle. I have two rocket shields (1 for when they fly high up, and a backup just in case I mess up). I've been lucky enough a couple of times where the explosion from the elemental eyeball or jelly gets all three heads at once.
I tried your method but i died too many times because i somehow managed to not hit it with the sword while i was up, it took me too much time to reach and set it up again, it got deleted by the flames etc. In the end just use the fire on the ground to elevate yourself and arrows with eyes attached for easy aim (they won't work if you're on the ground and he fly too high from you). Additionally you can have some occasions where all the heads are close to each others and 1 bomb can hit all 3. Just run away from his attacks and fly + arrows in the eyes until he dies. Eventually he will be so high that falling from there will kill him anyway
If I ever get my Switch back to working order then hopefully get this game someday, I will definitely be using this tactic. Unless there are any "easier" methods, this is really clever - and cool, definitely !!!!!!
Keese eyes only work if you haven’t already used all of them on a Gleeok already. Had to take a trip to Kakariko Village/Beetle for arrows for the same reason.
So dumb question but what if you dont have a spring or rockets and you’re low on zonai charges? Is there any way to fight them from the ground or your only advantage is the air? These mini boss are just really annoying to deal with and out of all of the mini bosses these are my least favorite.
Meanwhile me who defeated thunder gleeok without using any eyes attachment, went straight to the gleeok's face, used up foods to restore stamina and stock up electric resistance. And then i just learn i can just use homing arrows
I faced the king gleeok and everything was going fine until he went super high and i couldnt reach him and he just rained lightning and ice down on me. Don't know what to do at that point. Any tips?
Just a random tidbit, if you have tons of Stakes you're hoarding, you can literally just quick stick one in the ground in front of the Gleeock just to hop on in order to get enuff air for the first phase of bullet time. You have to be quick but for the OCD hoarders & efficiency nerds like myself it's a nice lil trick. Not good enough for future phases tho when he flies really high up. Or you can also just fuse a Wing on to your shield & shield surf to get just enough air for a quick bullet time. You're likely swimming in those that you aren't using as well.
Do you HAVE TO take the Gleeoks out? Like, are they tied in with the story in any way? When I first saw these Gleeok dragons, they freaked me out. Still do. Got my a## handed to me on the first encounter. I turn and run the other way whenever I see one. But I know I'm eventually going to have to face them.
oh my God i was putting this fight off....and now i had to a quest to try and do all news reporting in stables to get froggy armor and i gotta fucking kill a frost gleek.. good thing i got a nice stack of juciy lyonal bows and full recov food
Lmao I have 13 hearts and full 3 bar stamina bar and still only have level 9 armor and level 40 weapons what am I doing wrong? How do I get dressed appropriately for electricity thanks in advancedd
