How does the epoxy defy gravity & remain on the vertical backsplash? Does the backsplash need chopping? Can a spray epoxy be used on the backsplash in conjunction with your epoxy?
@BobBob-eh5sb
@BobBob-eh5sb 10 месяцев назад
@@utubeiswatchingmeI see your question is a couple months old, but I’ll try and answer it. The epoxy will ooze down the backslash and you should brush it back up from time to time. I would mix a little extra and either keep a small amount in a cup and check it to see if it’s setting up. Or paint a smooth board, pour a little on it and use that as your monitoring board. As long as it’s still fluid on it then you can brush it up the backsplash. Ideally would be to catch it just as it’s starting to cure, but will still level itself out to make the brush marks blend in. You don’t need to chop the backsplash. That’s done mostly to eliminate the trowel marks and you don’t trowel the backsplash. And when torching out the bubbles, try to keep the heat away from the backsplash as best as you can. The heat will just make it flow more. As far as spray epoxy, I’m not sure exactly what you’re talking about, but I wouldn’t mix them at all, or apply one over the other when still wet. You might be able to spray first, then when cured a light 220 sand and then use the stone coat. Would probably try that on a practice piece first.

Perfect timing. We are going to put in new lower cabinets and a new sink. One part of the countertop is good shape but I want to use StoneCoat to pour over all of them. I know they will have to check dimensions for the new sink to decide if that part of the countertop is usable. I think redoing the countertops in another room while they work on the cabinets is a good idea. They will do the cutting outside.

how badly is it out of level? I've fixed a corner of an L shaped countertop by pouring a small amount of epoxy on the low corner and letting it cure, sand and feather the leading edge, and rest of the patch of epoxy. Paint the area to match the rest and pour your whole countertop. You'll have an extra day of epoxy but it can fix it when you can level the countertop from below with shims.

@coll623

Inches length x inches width divided by 144 = square feet. When looking for how many feet something is you divide it by 12, because there are 12 inches in one foot. When trying to figure out square footage you divide by 144 because 12 x 12 = 144 and you need to account for how many feet the length and width are. Idk if I made it make sense but that there’s the best I can do lol

How do you clean or save your brush to use again?
@StoneCoatCountertops
@StoneCoatCountertops Год назад
I'll save and reuse my brush only on sample making day. I put my brush in a cup of acetone. Most of the epoxy will wash off dabbing the brush in the bottom of the acetone cup. Keep the brush in the cup until ready to use on the next sample. Get as much acetone off as you can, the acetone is compatible with the resin but acts similar to isopropyl alcohol causing cells and lacing . Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions!

The calculation formula works because- to change measurement area from inches to feet is to divide the total by a square foot. In his project 26 inches × 28 inches = 728 inches divided by the total number of square inches in a foot (12" x 12"= 144" = 1 sqft.) So 728" divided by 144" (or 1 sqft) equals 5.0555555556 and round out to 5 which is 5 square foot. I love math

My counter has a one inch overhang on the front and is unfinished under there. What can I do to finish the underside of the overhang? B
@StoneCoatCountertops
@StoneCoatCountertops Год назад
Great question! As the epoxy drips over the front edge, I use my gloved hand to rub the drips and coat the underside of the laminate. That epoxy soaks in and waterproofs and strengthens the particle board under the laminate. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Did you watch the video. They always put plastic over the cabinets and thick construction paper on the floor and now they have those awesone gutters. Watch again and see all the precautions that are taken to keep things clean.

I use a 3 mil 3 foot wide plastic roll and tape that to the cabinets all the way up to the countertop. Use plastic on the floor as well. Tape the floor and cab plastic together to keep epoxy from getting on the floor. Here is a video showing how I prep an onsite pour: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E-k7-WmgwHE.html

Hello ! quick question hoping someone could help. I just did my countertops yesterday morning using epoxy for the first time an I don't think they turned out bad but I added glitter flakes into epoxy mixture while mixing then did the pour everything looked great but this morning I noticed that a lot of the flakes are poking through the top so before I do anything to it an mess it up I have looked for a solution an haven't had luck finding one so I follow Stone coat on fb an RK3 an figured this would be best place to ask for some help on fixing this correctly. Thank you to all that help me correct this hiccup hoping it's fixable. thanks in advance everyone

Id wait for it to dry and sand with 220 grit. Then do a clear pour or use their topcoat over the top.

The math works like that because there are 12 inches in a foot and 12 x 12 = 144. 1 foot x 1 foot = 1 foot², which is exactly the same as 12 inches x 12 inches = 144 inches²

A question ... I'm a 73 year old Painter Decorator, who spent the past 30 years teaching TAFE Students here in Sydney specializing with decorative finishes. Be a Yank, we often called Acrylic paints "Latex". I've done dozens of Trompe-l'œil table tops, walls and club murals using these techniques; turkey feathers, metal graining combs , floggers (Brushes) and of course airbrushes... (since the 60's). I've run workshops for Sydney Opera Company, Sydney theater group, FOX and Disney studios... Now I'm retired and I love making tables for friends and families in the USA as gifts wit a history of their and our lives together. Can you coat these Artist Acrylic Paints with your epoxy? I've use "Spar Varnish" on the tables (around 4-6 coats) sanding in between coats. Could there be a reaction between materials. Using just epoxy wouldn't work and cuts down on the images I could create... I mean it's great using the "Flow Hit or Miss" for a rookie, but I try to match exotic woods and inlays. Thanks in advance...

You can coat right over your art work. Allow the paints to fully dry before coating with clear epoxy.
