I inherited a couple of the tumblers that has the business names on then. They were just too boring for me, so I decided to give them a makeover. I outlined the area where the business name was with painter's tape, and applied the citrus strip to that area, covering the business names. Then, after the process was done and I had cleaned it and made sure it was dry, I applied a piece of brown 651 vinyl and overlaid a sunflower and the words "You are my sunshine" on it. Once it was done, it actually looked like it was originally made that way, and my daughter loves it.

That is masking tape, not painter’s tape, however, either would work. Also, DAB with a makeup sponge (whether doing this or painting) when using stencils and you will not risk bleeding through areas
Cannot wait to try this. When you washed the 2nd cup, did you just use dish soap? And, have you tried the scrubby part of a dish-sponge? I wonder if it will pull more of the tumbler paint than you want. Thank you for sharing.
I have done a bunch of these and I use a dish scrubber and scrub the heck out of them and I have never had paint come off that wasn't meant to be stripped. It gives a really sharp edge too.
Is there a reason you put the transfer tape over the whole design then weeded it off the transfer tape? you're touching the sticky part which adheres to the cup and it seems a lot harder than weeding it before applying the transfer tape and only transferring the design.
I tried this, but did not use the what gun and foli. I will see if that works. Mine was not bad but the edges were not as smooth. Back to the drawing board. Thank you.
