First, thank you for watching. This is a great question. Typically, you wouldn't need to do this as the normal process for restoring a WordPress site would be to install a fresh version of WordPress. Then go and install the All-in-One WP Migration Plugin and then do an import of the .wpress files to restore your original WordPress site. I would use this tool when I'm trying to get to all of the website files that you would normally see or use for your web hosting. For instance, I was wanting to play with putting all of these files into Google Drive to see if I'd have any success running a WordPress site by hosting all of the files in Google Drive. I don't think you are going to need this tool very often, but I wanted to share a video for it just in case. Does that make sense?

Hello Oklino, the wpress files are generated when you do a backup with the All-in-One WP Migration plugin. Here is what I would do.... On your fresh WordPress site install the All-in-One WP Migration plugin. Then go to Import Option and import the wpress file. This will restore your site from the the backup. In my testing, I didn't have to do anything with the databases. Really, the only reason you might use the tool in the video is if you wanted to dive into the actual files to poke around.

@@themembershipanswerman thank you for your reply 🙂 i was asking for the db-thing because we're having issues with importing the aiowp plugins backupfiles after upgrading our IONOS Webspace... i've spent hours with calling the support because they simply didnt understand that i need more than 64MB uploadsize... now surprisingly they did what i wanted (edited the php.ini and restarted their apache). but the plugin still gets stuck at preparing the blogs... i've just had enough of it and thought there is a way around using the plugin for importing a backup.

@@oklino Oh Fun! Not. I've never been a huge fan of WordPress and the more I'm forced to work with it, the more unhappy I am with it. I've stopped using it for my sites, and if anyone asks me about using WordPress I encourage them to use other platforms instead. It's just too complicated. My partner and I over at Zero2Income like to say that things need to be as effortless as possible and WordPress is FAR from effortless. I started doing videos on WordPress whenever I solved something I was working on, but I don't think I'll be doing too many more. All of the plugins and lack of support and issues that come up every time you open it up take up way too much time and energy to deal with. Good Luck with the issues that you are dealing with. I hope that they get resolved without too much of a headache.

I've also been through all of these feelings... ;-) if it was my project i'd have removed wordpress just to code my own thing. would be better in every aspect: Development, performance, cost efficiency... But unfortunately its my job to use whats been set up by my boss... its frustrating to work on this platform. With every solution i find i get 2 new problems to deal with. With every dive into the existing website, my boss created (with 3 differend editors and 10-15 plugins), my hair turns little more grey... But overall i have to be thankful because after losing my GF in 2016 (pneumonia) and 7 Years of unemployment because of deep depression got this job offer and it gave me the money to survive the inflation in Europe and an opportunity to live a good life again... not as perfect as once but... better. Well sorry for the offtopic... thank you for your reply - keep up the good work on those videos. I really like them and think they're helpful for all of us who are lost in the depths of wordpress ;-)
