When you deliver the medicine you don't have to go into the room, you can actually interact with the npc through the wall, saving some precious seconds there. Turns out that Tyrian medicine can be applied on the walls and still works on the patients!

I actually level characters to level 80 to farm every story key and delete them afterwards to do it again. Always get around 10 keys and alot of crafting materials which are around 20-30g. Leveling characters is somehow the only thing I enjoy in guild wars right now lol

Just a few tips here for those that do this often and don't want to pop tomes of knowledge since they can be used for spirit shards. Get the best level 0 and 10 armor and weapons, and don't forget the runes and sigil's, because these are not soulbound so you can use the same gear every week. You can power level to 10 in less than 45min in the worst case scenario, but normally its much less than that. When you finish the intro switch to your level 0 gear, then power to 10 and switch to the lvl 10 gear then follow his instructions. Please note you can do this with any race, but the human has a few really easy paths that take less than 15min. Don't forget one last step... Every week when you finish, remove all your gear, delete your key farm character and then create it right away so that you can keep your name reserved for you and the do the intro and put the gear on. You now have a week to get to lvl 10 and start your next run.

Tnx for the guide. I use a ranger with account bound gear for lvl 2, 5 and 10 for normal leveling for keyrun. I don't have a lot of tomes so i use them for another key char to skip the last lvls to lvl 61. I like leveling and normal farming/map completion. Also just doing full story @ 61 is fun. Accountbound gear with best damage runes/sigils. Keep up the great work ;), learned some nice tricks in this vid :) (skipping stuff).

You can also use minor runes as well. ( I had a level 10 guardian that would run around constantly back in the day staff/gs obviously lv 10 equipment to) I was a part of a old guild that would speed run key farms when they were not limited lol.

Nice video. I have loads of chests and no keys lol when i do get one i use it right away. Unfortunately i don't have a free character slot to do this with :( but i have added it to my fav list so when i can get aother slot i will use it for this.

Probably been mentioned already: Level 2+ characters can skip the tutorial instance entirely by using the unlocked waypoint. Saves 1-2 minutes.

You can put your Tomes of knowledge into shared inventory slot, and use them already during the tutorial (this way you can unlock some mobility spells - e.g. hunters greatsword 3 + that signet that gives you 25% movement speed)

If you are planning on farming every week, i would recommend getting a bloodbound gs for 10 faction provisioner tokens. It is accountbound so it can also be xfer to each character or the bank.

You can use the warhorn you get from rewards to give swiftness to Thackary & Countess Anise to make them run a little faster in The Commander instance.

You can get four additional keys doing the lvl 40 chapter, lvl 60 chapter, LWS2 "Into the Labyrinth" chapter and HOT "Roots of Terror" chapter, these keys do not have the weekly cap.

I have been playing this game for 3 years and I dint know you could skip the tutorial :P

you can tp directly from instances to the next wp, that will save you some secons from the loading screens and it cost just some coppers btw, what this the best way to use tomes of knowledge? i usually use them to farm weekly 3 keys up to level 60 bc i have like 10 stacks of them in the bank + a bunch of instant level up from birthdays gifts

Nice guide, I didn't know about a few of those skips. Btw, having waypoints in the chat can help speed you up a bit (so you don't have to open the map to tp) I also use the executioner toy axe to speed up movement in nonmount zones. I also usually get to level 80 so I can get the level 40 key, the key from the labyrinth story, and the easy map completion keys from HoT. You could also beat HoT for a key, but who has the time for that mess.

I did 3 mistake, die 1 time (forget one mob and she came back when i was in a bad position^^) and do 24 min, for a first time, it's good ! Now i'll do it every week !!

Why didn't you use the warhorn you looted from one of the story rewards to get some swiftness to save a second or two?

I do not use something like this speed runs but last weak I got a key by leveling up my Char. I got a rare extra item, it was a old sword skin. This skin is acc bound and have because of this a price of like 2.5k g XD

I also go for the second BLC key which you get when you finish the first mission of Order.

Thanks for the tips =D. I just have a few questions though : Do we have to be quick or is it just to show that it can take a few minutes each week? Do we have to create the new character after the reset is done? Do you know at what time the reset is made? I'm glad you showed us this, I have like 80 Black Lion Chest and I was wondering if I should keep or sell them =/.

If you create a character you wanna use anyway as an alt, you could level him up by crafting as well ^^

Curious how does this average to 15 gold? Just an estimate I assume? I get the intrinsic value of the key, since it's worth 125 gold, but opening the chest usually nets me garbage.

You should take and use the warhorn for swiftness, might make it even a lil faster.

Hey Cello, is it me or is Lord Faren faster? Also I use flame thrower /engineer . Also I use the lvl 20 tomes since i have 29 Characters and don't ever need lvl 20,30,40,50,60 tomes again.

If you save rewardbags and open them on a lvl 80 character you get higher lvl awards. I usually do that. Is it more profitable to open them directly?

If I may I would like to give my opinion on the key farming that this video shows. Doing it the way like the video will take roughly 15 minutes IF you have a mount. For free to play players (or players that havn't unlocked mounts yet) it will take about 5-6 minutes longer. But here is the thing, you can only farm this key once a week so I really don't see the point in rushing this. He is spending 8 tome of knowledge just to end up deleting the character while tomes of knowledge can be used to level up other characters like alts and such, most people (especially free to players) do not have those tomes of knowledge, not in bulk anyway. Sure, if you have 8 characters all maxed out with 8 different classes, done all the story, got all the mounts, maxed out your home instance etc etc. then it really doesn't matter, but for most people it would be a waste to use the tomes to just farm one damn BL key, its something you can do once a week. Do you know how long it takes to do all those quests while leveling your character normally? Well, with VERY cheap exp food you could do all in this video and level your character up by doing the hearts and killing monsters in about 2 - 2.5 hours. Without a mount it will take about an hour longer. That is not really THAT long considering you can only do it ONCE a week. Just make a character, kill the ingame music, put up your own music like EDM, Hardstyle, Metal, epic ochestra or something else and just punch this out in a short amount of time. You could even do it again and just log out before accepting the final reward and wait till monday again. I would never waste tomes of knowledge just to get 1 BL key unless I am really done leveling alts and don;t have a use for them anymore, most people that are watching this video are not at that point yet. @cellofrag; really awesome video, thanks for this! One suggestion though; try keeping in mind that there are free to players out there that do not have mounts, or gold, or tomes etc. If you can give tips and tricks in your videos that have 2 ways for each of the type of player then you can help/reach more people. ;) But don't get me wrong, I like your videos a lot!

I allso do mappkompletion of grothmar walley for the mapp chest, got before black lion Keys somtimes but loks like they maked hiden paths of it that black lion key dont drop from map completion on lvl 3-9 Characters atleast for me it dont do any more

I posted this on a couple other videos about this key farm and I’m curious what everyone has to say. The once a week limit. Is that straight up across the board or just for making these new key characters? Say my 8 boosted characters that I actually wanna start playing the personal story. Does that mean when they hit their personal story they won’t get the key if I already got one that week? So it’s a waste? I shouldn’t do more than one personal story key a week? Get what I’m saying ? Also is that all parts of the story that reward a key? Even the higher level parts? Say on one guy I hit the first part of his story that gives a key but on another guy he is closer to the end of his story that gives a key later on. Will they both get keys or do I really need to limit myself to ONE single key per week. These are very important questions as I don’t want to squander my keys. I hate to have to limit my play in any way but it needs to be known 100%

According to the official GW2 Wiki, "Since September 15, 2015, only one key a week can be obtained this way: completing a character's level 10 personal story will award a Black Lion Chest Key, but make the account ineligible to receive further keys from level 10 story completion until weekly reset on Monday 00:30 UTC-7. Further keys may be earned from other sources at any time. Prior to the September update, it was possible to obtain several keys an hour using this method; however, due to the added time-gating, the popularity of key farming has fallen.". Was that NOT true then?

any story path works? i have some 80s characters and never played the story.

Heroes band? wtf I dont get one of those and I preodered. Also.. Warrior is very solid. Thief Shortbow 5 for teleporting can also serve you well if you have low ping. Not really sure which is faster. optional - Bank a set of level 10 +power gear with +power precision runes and Air/fire sigils on your weapons. You can transmute it so you don't look like a scrub while keyfarming and reuse the gear every week. (helm/shoulders requires the free armor set from the digital delux/heroic editions if you want a helm/shoulders equipable before level 11). It's a huge damage boost.

this only works once per week, and you get one key on the first chapter, 3rd chapter and 5/or6th chapter of the personal story so just instant level a character to level 80 once a week get some non soulbound gear keep it in your bank and then just do the story quest till the 3rd key, depending on the gear you choose and the build you use, and learning the fastest travel times, and point a to b, and if you do it with others, then you can possbily get all this done in an hour or less .... and then if you really feel ambitious and want to get the most benifit, do map completeion on the character befor you delete it. 25% chance per map to get a key.
