It really is a rewire. I was able to 42hr fast for 3 months straight. Now I’m struggling to make it to 24. I will get back on track
@AzaleaBee
@AzaleaBee 6 месяцев назад
Do you mean a 42 hour fast a week for 3 months straight or rolling 42 hour fasts? And did what you eat change since then possibly making even 24 hour fasts difficult?
@_1Brick1_

@@AzaleaBee rolling 42’s. Nope ate the same thing. I skipped a fast day to celebrate an achievement and haven’t been able to get back on the horse. It’s been 2.5 weeks of this

I could do 5-7 day fasts. I did 8 day once. Now a single day of not eating is a struggle. But we got this. It's better than throwing it all away. It's okay sometimes take a step back
@AzaleaBee
@AzaleaBee 6 месяцев назад
@@_1Brick1_ I can see how it would be hard to get back to it if the 42 hour fast was the only weekly fast you did and skipped it. Assuming you are not underweight and not a growing young person, if regular weekly extending fasting is important to you, do what you did to get there before and from then on in don't skip.. adjust the fasting day to a few days BEFORE any event. I've done multiple extended fasts every week for several years. I fast now for pain relief due to an accident a few years ago, so I will not skip but before that, if I needed to adjust I always adjusted my fasting days to a day or so before a planned fast.

I have 4 kids and a wife so believe me the temptation is real….i like what you said about learning from experience…I’m 42 pounds down since Jan 1st…even when I stopped I was able to maintain my weight by intermittent fasting throughout the day…just finished a 4 day fast…and I feel great…for reference I was nearly 300 pounds when I started now I’m 249…steady progress…I think just like exercise it’s really smart to keep your body guessing of your next move…thanks for all you do…much appreciated work your doing…if nothing else it’s motivation

For me what works is extended fasting followed by several days of eating strict carnivore. I started last March and the short term fasting worked to an extent, from alternate day fasting up to ninety six hour fasts. I went to daily intermittent fasting from August through October and while i had some additional healing, I lost no weight. It was good practice for when I reach maintenance, I am not there yet. In November I did a fourteen and a ten day fast, in January a twenty one and a sixteen in February. Over that time I lost about sixty five lbs. The hardest day for me on a fast is day one, after that it just gets easier, no hunger, good energy levels, I usually don't quit the fasts for a physical need. I am starting another after today and it may be my last long one as I am over eighty percent to my goal. No matter how you do it the fasting is an important answer. All of the health issues I started this with have gotten better or gone away completely. I attribute that to the autophagy from the fasting as much as anything else.

This is exactly what I needed to hear. I am also an all or nothing person. So if I don't do things exactly as planned, I throw the whole plan out the window until... Monday... the 1st... never. I'm going to stop doing that to myself. It will never be perfect. Progress over perfection. 💛

Yes, yes, yes! "Imperfect Consistency" (as Jerome calls it) is key! I read one comment that said Jerome is binge eating and teaching "unhealthy habits" When he refeeds after a fast. This whole weight loss journey is about what works for HIM. He is just brave enough and considerate enough to share with us what works for him. In hopes that maybe someone else can take something from it and add that to their OWN weight loss journey; and I, for one, am super thankful that I found his content. What works for me, might not work for you and vice versa; but we take ideas and tweak them and add them to our own regimen. THAT is what "sustainability" is all about -- not doing what's popular or "politically correct" or trending. It's about what YOU PERSONALLY can maintain successfully, which is different for each individual. Some people have zero common sense and zero compassion, which is why they have zero understanding! Weight loss is not always pretty or perfect or traditional -- sometimes you have to "think outside the box" in order to progress. Keep up the good work, Jerome, and anyone who agrees!

I understand this mentality completely!! I once tortured myself by staring at a Snicker bar for 2 weeks and never touching it LOL. Anyways, I've seen a couple doctor's videos and they said it's good to switch it up, keep the body guessing. So the next time you slip up, just remember that you will not lose the benefits of fasting if you get right back on track and keep going. Turn it into a positive and keep going!! We are human, we are flawed, it's okay. Good luck!

Just found your channel. I’m doing fasting to hopefully reverse pre-diabetes, lower cholesterol, detoxify, cleanse and take advantage of fasting benefits. I’m 110 lbs 5’1” (skinny fat!). I started fasting 30 days ago. My first fast lasted 72 hours, second 48 hours. Second and third day I find was the most difficult. I am currently on my 3rd fasting. I set my goal to 5 days. On the 5th day I felt re-energized, I felt a black cloud lifted. Not hungry, with plenty of energy. I decided to extend my fasting. I’m on 192 hours and listening to my body closely. I just finished a 10-mile hike. Thank you for why you do!

I will intermittently fast, but I am vigilant on the amount of carbs always if I eat any at all. I couldn't eat anything again. I would gain everything back and then some. A lifetime commitment means that you can't eat certain foods, amounts and accepting the fact. I am impressed on what you are doing and I wish you a lot of luck. Congratulations.

thank you for being here for us, those videos really help me. The struggles you're describing is exactly what I was going through lately. I got off track half a year ago and whenever I tried to get back to fasting I set up too big goals for myself and I ended up binging again and again every time I failed. Of course it's not that easy to fast again after your body gets so used to overeating everyday. But now every time I break too early I will keep going and continue this journey even if it's not perfect. Even if I don't hit my goals. Slow progress is still progress, and even no progress is better than going downhill. I know I can do it if I don't give up and it gets easier over time. Thank you Jerome!

You may want to consider a long term fasting protocol. That will vary for each person. If you find, (like Jerome) that you have a food addiction of sorts, then a long term flexible ADF protocol may be more sustainable for your needs. Typically this is what my clients prefer. For most people, It’s very easy to gain the weight back in a omad protocol. All the best to you.

@@Trainfeastfast Absolutely. For a not underweight adult at least one weekly 36 hour fast seems to be healthy and quite doable. Healthy not just for weight management but also for many other things that come with fueling our bodies via ketones.

This is the video I needed. I started with the zero app last month after watching your live about staying constant. I started at a 16 hr fast. Did that two days. Then 18 then 24. I’m at rolling 36 hour fasts using the app. I’m not going to lie, I’m having a lot of trouble pushing food out of my mind. It’s definitely always at the forefront of my thinking daily. I really hope I’m able to stop thinking about my next meal all the time. I’m down 55lbs so far so I’m not giving up!

You can overeat on carnivore. Start listening to what people are saying, especially fasting and feasting. It will eventually click with you. Just listen what people like you are saying, there is a consistency which doesn't exist with other type of diets/systems. Binge eating is encouraged on carnivore since this is when you body heals.
