If you try to film your old CRT screen with a standard camera, there is either incredible flicker or a black rolling strip. Let's see what other means you can try, and if you can't afford a thousand-dollar DSLR camera, the good news is that you don't necessarily need one to get it all right: you can use a smartphone app to do the job... I'm really struggling to record/live stream my arcade games and make them look good. I'm using an old DSLR now, a Canon T2i with the software that lets it be used as a "webcam". I think the software is limiting my ability to have more control over the settings. The image looks decent but the refresh lines are still going. I'm going to poke around with some of the on camera settings and hope I can figure it out. I'm sure I'm in a pretty small niche of people who want to use these modern cameras to record something so old lol.

You can connect a standard usb audio device to an iphone via camera kit. Or use line in adapters. Though no idea if they work with the camera app.

What app are you using that detects the refresh rate of the CRT you're shooting? It's not in the video's description. (Is it DSLR Camera Pro? Sadly, that app hasn't been updated in 3 years and doesn't work with modern android.)

Have 8 plus and it does not do anything automatically. Cannot record my gaming on a crt tv without all those moving lines on the screen

What iphone version did you test? I'm wondering if an old one from ebay will do the trick. Also, I'm not familiar with iOS; can the videos be transfered to a PC with a cable or does it require some type of cloud service?

I used a Samsung S8, a Samsung A12, and a iPhone 5. Always transfer with a cable.

Modern iOS can transfer to usb/SD easily but you need “camera kit” adapters to connect them. Also iOS supports usb keyboards, audio, midi. You can also copy files to your mac via cable and there are apps providing webdav/smb/ftp/http/dlna servers.

it works with 50/60Hz refresh screens. but with exotic refresh rate like arcade games you get strips. because you can't set your shutter speed onto the exact game's refresh rate like 1/57.4 value.
