The is a redo and combination of the previous part 2 and the addendum showing the entire process of prepping brass for fire forming, along with the actual results from the range - and I've included a fun fire forming shot.
Whether you're looking for an alternative to Hornady brass for your 300 PRC, or you're looking to learn a little more about fire forming, the few minutes it takes to watch this video is worth it - and don't forget to watch part 1!

I recently went through the fire forming process that you detailed in these videos, and it worked perfectly. I just wanted to thank you for the effort you went through to figure all this out and share it with us. As I'm sure you know, you cant find any 300 prc components at this time so this was a huge help to me. Thanks again.

Hi Brandon, thanks for the note and I'm glad it worked for you. I've told a few folks who are looking for 300 PRC brass to do the same thing. Not only does it get you brass in a pinch, but it gets you really good quality brass that you can use for a long time.

@@TwoMinutestoTarget so wat is your fireforming load? I went through the process and it seemed to work except the base of the case wanted to bulge out in a irregular random direction since the diameter seems to be a bit smaller than the Hornady brass dimension-don’t know if that makes a problem or not.

@@jeffreymiller5336 I ran them at under 70 gr of H1000, so quite low. 68 seemed to work well

The only thing I changed was to fireform using cast bullets. Works fine and saves powder, bullets and barrel.

After fire forming, what are you setting your Case Trim Length to? I've been trimming to the Hornady suggested CTL of 2.565 and having impressive results with Retumbo and 230gr A-Tips.

Hi B2LEE - nice to see you here! I found that when fire forming with an initial case length of 2.59, I end up at just under 2.56, which then take a couple shots to grow back to the low 2.56s. My latest batch that I have yet to fire is starting at 2.60. Like you, I seem to be getting better results at shorter lengths, and I plan to trim them right to where you've got them at 2.565. Of note is that you lose a little length after the SECOND firing too, which is why I'm now starting at 2.6.

So I went ahead and did everything the way you explained and the only thing I’m not sure about is that after fire forming it I had a bulge at the case base out the side and it usually ended up being kind of on one side or the other not necessarily concentric around the circumference of the case - have you noticed this and have you dealt with it somehow or has it made any difference in your load work up?

I have a question I’ve completed the trimming and sizing and internal neck trim, I’m curious are you using a standard load for fire forming or are you using a reduced load?

@@jeffreymiller5336 Sorry, missed this comment. That means you're going way hot on the load. What load/powder/bullet?
