Summer has arrived and the fish are moving offshore so get ready! Its time to dust off those BIG worms and head out to the breaks and ledges! In Today's video Tim explains the advantages of different worms, colors, and rigging methods.
Whether you are fishing for number or BIG bass, the Texas rigged worm or Carolina rigged worm is a great choice throughout the Summer months. These simple rigs produce both quantity AND quality consistently. If your goal is just to catch fish, you don't even need dedicated gear for this technique.
Below is a break down of Tim's favorite BIG worms and the gear he uses to fish them. Good luck on the water!

I love all your videos are very informative the only problem I have is some of the base that you guys talked about you don't actually show us how to fish it you just tell us and while some people can understand what just explaining I'm more of a visual learner so when you're telling me to hop a jig or something like that it's easier for me if you actually show me how to hop a jig I know I'm probably one of the only people that thinks this way just thought I'd give my two cents still love your videos keep it up

Tony Reed dude with that comment/question you're on your way to becoming a good bass fisherman. I took a trout fisherman friend of mine out years ago and we spent months on rigging, casting and working bass baits and lures. Check out some of tactical bassin's older videos in their playlist before they surrendered to the masses with 3 videos a week. You'll find a lot more casting and working videos!! Also try Nick the 'Informative Fisherman', he's a multi-species guy but he's got some 45-minute bass rigging, casting and working videos. You're asking the right question, you're just asking for videos that take a lot of time to make if you're going to do them right. It may seem like it should only take a second or two to show how to 'hop and pop pop' Lmao... But if you want people to understand what your doing, show them how to do it and explain to them why, it's time consuming to 'do it right' with the tons of baits and lures that are out there. One of the things I suggest to people that can afford it and want to cut their learning curve down is to hire a good guide. Grab 20 to 30 different style baits and tell him you want to rig, cast and work them all.

First off I just want to say I love your channel and recommend it to all my buddies. My wife found your channel 2 years ago (trying to learn how to catch big bass) for a tournament we were going to on Lake Chickamauga. I got to give you guys a big Thank You ! Now when I purchase more tackle she went from (don’t you have enough) to having her buying lures. I hope you guys get some kind of commission from Tackle Warehouse lol The question have for you is I went to my local lake (Lake Raystown, Pa) twice in the past week, I was using flukes and caught a couple of bass but I had a lot of followers come to the boat that would not commit. Do you have suggestions as to what you would do in that situation? Thanks Brad

do you fish these pretty much everywhere in the lake? i saw something about using these large worms in deeper open water, over humps and into structure you find on your sonar. or are you mainly using this technique in shore rip rap and around grass and cover? i am looking at some smaller/med size lakes with water going from 40ft or so up to flat top humps in 30ft to 25ft of water. wondering if this is a good option? dragging a carolina over these flats. thanks.

I really like the 784. When I got it I didn't think much of it. I was expecting off the charts sensitivity but it just felt average. Then I switched from a Curado 200i (7.5 oz) to the Curado 70xg (6.5 oz) and the ounce made a big difference. Tim, I saw you with a Revo or something, that was in the 5 oz range. Perhaps reel weight should be mentioned when talking about pairing a set up for Rod sensitivity. I'm sure a lighter reel will help any Rod feel better. I appreciate TB'

Summertime brushpile fishing is all about big worms. I usually go with worms that have ribbed/ringed type bodies...bad thing is they're only good for about one fish each. The plum colors are staples in Ky, the purpler the better. Do y'all use scents? I never heard it mentioned before. I try to start marinating my worms the night before in a Megastrike/ KicknBass combo.

How does a Carolina rig look any different than the power shot or heavy drop shot which ever you want to call it?.
@Liquidlayersart
@Liquidlayersart 6 лет назад
the lure and the weight are in opposite positions. C-rig is a weight and then a lure. Drop shot is a lure and then a weight.
@TomGoesFishin
@TomGoesFishin 6 лет назад
On a Carolina rig the bait is weightless so when you drag the weight the bait will kick up off the bottom and then slowly sink back down. With the power shot, the bait stays suspended in the water column just off the bottom. A Carolina rig will have a slightly more erratic action as the worm can kick and flutter down to the side as well as up and down. With the power shot the worm moves more consistently in whatever direction the line is moving.

It would seem big worms are they only thing working in my area right now. I showed up early one day at my lake and saw a school of them sitting by the bank in shallow water. I wanted the big one to eat my weightless black and blue ribbon tail yum worm but nope a smaller one decided to go for it. Still it was nice to get something other than trout for once. I decided to throw a black and blue ribbon tail yum worm because the voice of reason told me to.

Hey I was wondering if you could help me at all. I’m fishing a lake that is really deep and clear and I keep having giant bass come up to the top of the water and just sitting there. I had one 6 or 7 pounder follow a 4.8 inch Kaitec in but never committed. I can’t seem to get them like this and I can’t get that many bites any other way because the lake has no structure so it’s tough to find where they are. Also I’m fishing from the bank so I can’t fish the middle. I got a 68 special rof 5 gizzard because this winter I saw big gizzard shad washing up on the bank (dying from the cold) I haven’t tried it yet but I was wondering if you could tell me where to fish with it since there isn’t any structure or weeds or if there is a lure that works for getting the bass at the top. Also f it helps top water hasn’t worked there for me and the bass sometimes go in groups of 3 circling the lake.

devin weber try something like a savage gear shine glide bait, I hear it gets results and is fairly inexpensive.

Actually gonna tell you the opposite of what most will but try slowing it down as much as possible. Here in Bama they are really focused on their beds and will not hardly hit anything unless it's really frustrating them. Edit: Also get some type of scent or attractant, I've even put Crappie Nibbles on my hook over the barb to just add a little scent for them to follow as you retrieve it slowly.

Bass Nazi yea like a shaky head or finesse jig.. that’s good way also. I just know how to power fish. Im in central Florida and all we have is cover and structure.

Yep it helps. Main reason i knew to slow it down were from crappie fishing up here. When the Roadrunners say on the back to fish SLOW they totally mean it, sometimes fast works, like after they start running shad around the banks, but the rest of the time they are pretty chill and laid back.

Question: What is shelf life of these baits and how many casts can you throw before they lose potency (ie. keep in your garage/shed)?

Fishin2The Max I've bought Mann's jelly worms from a antique store before and caught fish on them lol as long as they're not dried out they will fish.

I have some grubs, tubes and worms from my dad that have to be over 20 years old. They're still packaged and still good to go. I wouldn't worry so much about them losing potency, you can always add scent or thread on a new bait if you're concerned about that.
