Thank you for the tutorial. Your camera work --- the in-focus close-ups --- was the best aspect of the video. Also, the tip about putting a plate over the drain was valuable.

Just a tip, I believe the mistake made in this video is removing the hose by disconnecting it at the top and trying to replace it by forcing it upwards. I have since learned the common way to do this is disconnect it at the other end (underneath the sink) and pull it out, then when you replace it you're letting the hose fall down into the faucet neck from the top.

Oh how I wish I had seen this... but luckily I did figure out how to get the hose back up through the handle.
@George1mac
@George1mac 5 лет назад
Stratedge is correct.....I fought with the hose and decided to check the other end which was smaller and it pulled right up through the top....it was a bit of finagling to get it to go back down, but it did after twisting it like you would a drain snake. To reconnect the hose I found a helper to turn the hose as I tightened below to help keep the thing from twist kinking. The other thing I found which helped in putting things together was using needle nose electrical pliers to hold down the white plastic with the oval that holds the ball down before screwing down the top .....it was such a tight fit with the new springs that the oval kept raising up and the little "nub" would raise out of the slot.....putting the needle nose ends across the oval through the top chrome holder allowed me to push down and keep it in place.
@George1mac
@George1mac 5 лет назад
One more thing.....as we all find out, the common rule is each time we disconnect anything that has been connected for a long time, something will be bad in the connection. Yep, after reconnecting the push connector under the sink it leaked.....bad O ring and of course I did not have any #6 O rings.....trip to get a pack.......now no leaks

I figured if I can build a jet engine this should be a cinch. I stopped by home depot to get the equipment and any final instructions before tackling the job! Heck those guys knew less than I. The manager wanted to tell me how the store it's being revamped. New mangers so on and so on blah blah blah. I think I'm hearing Charlie Brown's teacher, none which can help. So I said why don't I look for a RU-vid video someone has to know! I thank this guy for his effort mistakes and all! Here come a jet engine project! Get'er done!

Just dealt with similar issue; no hot water passing. Checked supply valves pressure on both leftH&rightC good. Lines to fixture clear. Valve cartridge good, no broken ceramic discs smoothe movement. Connected pressure with cartridge out made a geyser on the rightC, leaked under the sink on leftH... There was glue coating an internal wire mesh washer, pre-valve. Brother pounded a heavy coat hang wire through the hot supply in the stem with the cartridge out! The fixture is compromised now, though had no effect on the mixing cartridge. All went back together and no leaks, now there is hot and cold, full operation and mixing. Visibly good as new. A new cartridge should be on standby for when the leaking begins on the stainless steel sink. Not sure fixture can be saved without like branded stem puller to repair any internal damage or replace clean wire mesh part. Real fix may be a new sink faucet.

Great video ! I wish I had seen this first before I took mine apart. Didn’t know how to get the body off with the hose in there. It was tight , I forced it and cracked a plastic piece near the bottom o ring. So close ! Sorry to see this faucet go as the new ones are so low flow rate I find it frustrating to use compared to Thai classic delta faucet.

For those who aren’t sure what the manufacturer is on this faucet it’s Delta. Right after watching video I got (2) kits, one with and one without the ballvalve, just in case the ball was too corroded. I was able to clean my ball, 😳 and save $9 not using the more expensive kit. Further in the thread you’ll see some have taken the hose off under the sink. The model I have has a freakin weird connector, able to be removed. I was able, with much swearing able to pull the hose up out of the head using a strong, thin nylon cord. If you suspect there could be much corrosion consider buying a new faucet and shutoff valves. One of mine failed to close warranting shutting off the well. All that said, this is a very good video, as I’ve previously stated. Good luck. 🍀👍

this video should be re-titled to, "time to replace your faucet". 5:20 in, and i'm like, damn... i have replaced a bathroom faucet, and it sucked, but there are just way too many parts to keep track of, here. if i attempted this, i'd have everything laid out like an airplane crash site, and there is about zero chance of me putting everything back together properly.

Could you please help me? I bought the same kit you have. I went to use the Allen wrench to unscrew the faucet handle. For some reason the thing that was screwed in there seemed like it was glued in with cement. I got a regular wrench and clamped it onto the allen wrench and tried to unscrew it like that. Unfortunately, all I did was ruin the allen wrench. I twisted the metal and stripped the end of it. Now it won't fit into the little hole in the faucet. Could it be that I needed to unscrew it in the other direction? I tried to do it to the right. But it seemed like it was just as hard to unscrew in the right direction as it was on the left side. It's usually righty-tighty, lefty-loosey, correct? Is it possible that in my case, it was righty-loosey, left-tighty? Please, when you have the opportunity, if you could get back to me and try to help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. I suspect I'll have to go to Lowe's and buy another kit.
