BBnose yeah tell me about it. What a worst fucking design ever . Who ever decided this idea was great need to get fire ASAP and prohibited being hired into any other company in the future for the rest of their life. n
I can't get the pin inside. the tiny metal things that I'm trying to pull out are directly next to the end of the metal thing. there is no hole in between that I can stick the pin into.
Omg everyones going on saying they broke their charger doing this. DONT DO IT AS HARD. YOU HAVE TO BE GENTLE TRYING TO TAKE IT OUT. REMEMBER ITS STUCK. NOT GLUED. I DONT NEED MUCH FORCE TO UNSTUCK IT. Thankyou for listening to my ted talk. 😂
This made me bend like 4 needles and ended up even hurting myself without success. Found in another video that using Nail clippers would fix the problem. That ended up doing the trick for me WITHOUT hurting my fingers with a needle.
Thanks but it did not improve the micro USB at all. Micro USB, both the ports and pins are faulty products which should never have been approved for selling.
A sub and like for you. Works if you're not an idiot or have an already broken micro usb. Be gentle. Doesn't require much force to bend the tips back and you only need the pins sticking out slightly. By slightly I mean 1mm.
it will work like that few times and then the pins bend back inwards. its only a temporary fix. my advice is to always keep a spare new cable in the house. they are not expensive
I saw tutorial articles showing how to fix the kind of micro USB connector that has the metal tabs, but none showing how to fix the ones with these spring-loaded prongs. We have a bunch of Amazon Basics and Anker cables that have ceased to seat correctly. I'm anxious to try this!
One of the things that drives me nuts about watching how-to videos on RU-vid is waiting for all the hems, and haws, and ummms. A two minute video could be reduced to less than a minute if the person making the video just figured out what they were going to say first. That being said, thank you for a very clear shot of the clips. I'd read another article on the internet about doing exactly what you did, but the images weren't clear enough to see whether the end of the clip you needed to pry up was at the connector end of the cable, or at the cable end.
You can see even on his cable the connector itself is on a angle. The minute that white part flexes, it will pull the pins back in. This will only work temporarily. Hard to explain but you can test with your cable. The end white part and the connector itself just aren't rigid enough.
for those who are to try this, take extra precautions. As I was doing this, the tip of the needle that I used snapped and was left between the hole and the clip. I have spent an hour trying to remove it but I had no luck of doing such. I had to force the clip downwards, sending the piece of the needle inside. The sad part is that the USB cord is still loose, and this was the cord of my External Hard Drive :'( I don't know if there's a replacement available for this. Wasted my time on fixing it on my own. I suggest you guys use a hair puller or other small yet tougher metal object to pull the clips out.
I can't get the pin inside. the tiny metal things that I'm trying to pull out are directly next to the end of the metal thing. there is no hole in between that I can stick the pin into.
DO NOT DO THAT! Just buy a replacement cable! Tampering with the clips will disarray the pins underneath and it can fry your device! Happened to my HTC One M9, a faulty micro usb cable fried my nand flash memory chip.
I don't think you understood what i said. When you pull the prongs you move the pins below as well, you can check it yourself. And there is a high chance for the pins to not align well when you use the charger. Yes, it can fry your device if the pins touch and short out, you run that risk every time you plug the jacks. I talk about the pins not the prongs. Google "micro usb pins" to see what i am talking about. And if a pin is bend, it just adds to bad odds. My HTC smartphone got the nand chip fried due to a faulty cable, i strongly suggest not to try and "fix" a faulty cable, that's all. I speak from my own experience.
