Just did that, only I used a drift to locate the bolt holes, never took the covers off . Replaced with bolts and nylock nuts. Thanks from, St. Paul Minnesota.

Since they sucked up a newspaper and hand the plastic bag wrapped around the shaft. I felt this method was best. If I missed part of the plastic bag and it worked its way back to the auger bearing it would have caused pre-mature failure of it. Hopefully the dont break these pins, if they do your method will work! Did you guys get snow yet? Thanks for the view and comment, hopefully you subcribed to my channel!

The very same thing happened on my friend's 24 inch Toro snow blower. The rear two shear pins on the impeller broke when he hit a stick or possibly left the snow blower outside of his garage one night after use, which caused the snow to freeze into a chunk of ice and the next use caused the pins to break. Naturally, I got the call to help. I saw the issue and used the 90 degree bend in an allen wrench to find out if the remanence of the shear pin was still inside of the shaft. Thankfully it wasn't. I used his owners manual to determine the part number, went to the local Toro dealer, and bought the two shear pins, but I wasn't thrilled that the nuts for this had a dimple manufactured into them to keep the nuts from vibrating off, so I replaced the steel nuts with stainless steel elastic stop nuts. I was easily able to install them through the front of the auger assembly and used the allen wrench to line up the hole in the shaft and the hole in the impeller.

Awesome! The reason why I needed/wanted to gain access to the shaft was that they hit a bag and part of it still wrapped in the impeller. I didn’t want the plastic getting caught up in the bearing and causing it to fail pre-maturely! I’m glad you got it done in a time and cost efficient manner! 🤙🏻🇺🇸🦅🔧. Also good to hear from you as well!

Great fix but I would use bolts lesser than a grade 8 in a pinch

Anything beats shoveling snow! Risk VS Reward when you go that route but I concur! Most people don't keep extra pins on hand!

My Power Max 826 OXE calls for part number 321-10, which is a simple 5/16"-18 x 1-3/4" , partially threaded, grade 8 hex head screw and a matching lock nut. Totaling about $5.00 for ten of each, and are used in both the impeller and augers. Anyway, the engine is supposed to stall before these break, right? 🙂 I did have the same pins shear on mine, and was able to replace them from the front without pulling it all apart... Well, I replaced one so far. Freezing my nuts off doing it in the driveway, so I was in a bit of a hurry. I'll get the second one soon... As soon as it warms up anyway.

I've never had to replace those bolts on mine. You must be trying to throw rocks with that blower! You need to install an impeller kit - then you will have a real snowblower!

1-3/4" x 1/4" bolts with locking nuts do the trick. Tried to find Toro replacement and they sent me the wrong size. Hardware bolts (I bought 2 extra) will have to do.

They don't have shear pins.. Toro does not use share pins those are just regular bolts.. Their technology is If something hits the auger the machine is designed to stop so you don't have to replace shear pins So it's very interesting those shear pins broke or maybe they rusted off

That the new machines…this machine is 2008 or older.

@@pattayperformance oh I didn't know it was that old.. In that case that Toro looks like it's in great shape for being that old.. I thought it was like at least a 2013.

@@pattayperformance actually I just looked it up there were people saying the no shear pin technology Was around in 94 and 95 in there 1132.. So they've been using those hardened gearboxes not needing shear pins for a long long time.. But it's an interesting subject.. I can't find the exact date but it looks like The technology has been around even 27 years ago. Maybe they only used that technology back in 94 and 95 in their bigger machines Like the 1132.. because there's a lot of proof of that.

@@pattayperformance they built this one and they should have left it alone putting in that extra opening in the shoot makes it clog up a lot faster with wet snow making it impossible to throw it out the main shoot
