How to get your clock in your 4runner or Tacoma working again. Should work for all 3rd generation 4Runner 96-02 and 1st gen Tacoma 95.5-04

Yes I did break a tab in the video careful with the 20 year old plastic

COOL ! At least you found one reason they stop working. I have never seen ONE older one that worked. I use the radios clock. Trying to think of something to fill the space. I resent it even being there. I will enjoy target practice with it.

I need to redo this video mine has since stopped working again but I can see that the solder on the clock has cracked. I just need to heat up the old solder and add more. I've seen people put gauges or cell phone mounts there. it'll also fit 2 ARB switches.

my radio backlight doesn't work so i can't see any numbers but my clock works. oh well

This worked on my newer 2001 Tacoma but the 1998 4runner its off again. This may or may not work, Smuckers T mentioned in the comments that its a solder joint that broke. I haven't been able to see if that is the case with my clock

Take the bezel out and it popped right out.

yeah its easy enough 3 screws and a bunch of clips just be sure to not damage the wires on the 4wd switch. Its the first 2:30 of the new video hope it helps out

I've always heard it was "a solder issue"... Which would make sense (My clock occasionally works in extremely cold temperatures.

Yeah I need to make another video with the solder fix. My Tacoma’s clock was fixed with the spring stretch but the 4Runners clock need the solder fix

Worked for a bit then stopped working until I slapped it and worked again lol. I think I need a whole new clock. 2000 4Runner.

Yeah I went camping a few weeks back and I noticed the clock would turn on and off with every bump. The time stayed correct though which leads me to believe its still getting power it just thinks the ignition is shut off. I'm going to try and replace the springs ill make another video if I find some that work

Sorry no I haven't, I have longer springs to install but haven't gotten around to seeing if that is the issue. The one in my 2001 Tacoma is still working fine so I'm wondering if different years Toyota changed some materials I haven't compared them. Ill get around to it my weekends are pretty busy at the moment.

I made a video but even after the longer springs I wasn't able to get the clock to work. Checked everything but I think the culprit is something inside the screen of the clock but its all sealed. My Tacoma's clock is still working it is slightly different than the 4runners and its 3 years newer so maybe Toyota fixed it in the newer models?
