Wow! 4 official LG videos, manuals and websites later and I was resigned to calling out a technician! Found your video and 5 mins later, problems solved! Many thanks 😊
Thank you so much, we didnt use our fridge for over a month because we couldnt find a way to repare it! After calling the company and searching for solutions your video has helped us so quickly. Thanks
Thanks very much, Michael, for this simple but effective solution. This evening my wife had to suffer a G+T without ice because our LG fridge-freezer had no ice after I had refilled the water tank two days ago. With your advice, it took five minutes to fix. I blew through the pipe going into the tank, replaced the tank, and water flowed a minute later. Like yours, there was nothing wrong with the ice-maker itself, and water flowed into it as normal. Pro-sites stating the most common problems with the ice-maker did not mention an airlock. You are several steps ahead of them!
Thank you so much for this fantastic video! It solved our problem within a few seconds after we thougt the icemaker was definitely faulty. Nothing could be found in the manual or on LG's homepage. Many thanks again!
Michael, I just fixed my fridge using this method! I did have to pull apart the two tubes under the fridge and reconnect them for it to finally come through but it's working like a dream now. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much Michael! The support section of the LG website was absolutely useless but your brilliant video solved my problem in 5 minutes. Greetings from Australia!
Thank Michael. My fridge stopped producing ice, so I looked on LG's website and didn't find much help in solving this problem. I then found your video and bingo, problem solved! Such a simple solution and easy to do. Thank you for making this simple video. Very helpful indeed.
Hello Graig. Thanks for your comment. That video has had over 40K hits so a lot of people have the same problem. I see you are in the Netherlands. I love your country and for a number of years kept my boat in Bruinesse, Den Helder and Amsterdam. As for the Ice Maker, I have discovered that the problem lies with the unit where the water comes out into the tray. It freezes and I now pour hot water over it. Regards Michael
I think it's the same issue, there seem to be water somewhere on the pipe and it's freezing of ice maker does not produce ice regularly? Any solution to this, unless a hairdryer?
Thank you so much for this clear video! Our water and ice dispenser has been "broken" for weeks and I feared the cost and hassle of a technician call-out, but thanks to you it seems to be working perfectly again. So grateful!
Writing this note from the Caribbean island - Trinidad. Thank you sooo very much for making this video!!! I was able to “fix” my ice maker because your freezer is similar to mine.. but my water is plumbed. The ice maker would randomly stop making ice.. followed your steps except for the water container part and voila!!! Success!! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much Michael for showing me the hidden reset button! I had already used my hairdryer to help melt the ice that was stuck in a lump and blocking the exit tunnel - but having cleared everything I found the water was not refilling the ice cube tray despite the ice dispenser part revolving and working perfectly. I googled and finally came across your video which showed that truly well hidden reset button. It worked like a dream the very first time! If I may, I'd like to add a suggestion to fellow ice lovers ... if your ice use is more seasonal i.e. loads in the summer months but tapering off in autumn - then consider turning off your ice maker intermittently which should help the unused ice from sticking together into a lump that can then cause a blockage. I meant to follow my own advice but was away for the whole of September and forgot to empty the ice maker and subsequently came back to an iceberg. Huge thanks to Michael for the reset.
Thank you so much for your comment Karen. I also switched the ice maker off when a way then I found out that the arm that comes down when you press the button is actually a sensor. If the bucket is full the arm detects it and stops more water coming through. However on this model the water which should have come through freezes and you have the problem to sort again. Regards Michael
Thanks, Michael, I have always removed the water tank completely to fill, but recently notice Ice production was slowing down, I looked into the top and generally I was only getting 3 ice cubes worth of water, this seems to have fixed this, much appreciated for the video, much better than LG's own offering which on the videos I found did not mention air locks! Cheers :)
Fantastic video, which helped my fix my fridge's ice maker. We've needed it the last few days and it ran out of water and must have got an air lock. Great help from your video, when the official LG websites were no help at all
Thank you for this video! I have a simile fridge, except the fridge door has another door just to access canned drinks. Initially followed your video but no water was dispensing. With prayer and a clean pinkie finger, I removed the water tank, then jabbed the rubber hole a few times hoping to release whatever vacuum was in there. Water dispensed thereafter! Thank you for making this video!!!
Thank you so much sir , i called to lg service but they told me to fix but it didnt work. And then i watched your video and followed your instruction ,now its working ❤ thank you sir
Really useful video, fingers crossed it will work, but so far so good, just waiting for the water to freeze! User videos based on real experience are always more helpful. Keep up the great work!
Many thanks Michael, best information I have found on the internet. Googled many site including LG and then came across your video. Wonderful, two thumbs up :)
Thanks Mate , I am from India I am struggling from last 2 days how to fix this problem but from this video I fix it thanks you so much have a wonderful weekend ahead ♥️
Just watched your video, although our model was slightly different we couldn’t get the water or ice to function. We were resigned to it not working however 5 minutes after watching your video we were able to fix ours. Thank you so much.
That was great. We have a filter plumbed in but did not know about the small button underneath that tilted the tray. At least we can see it working ok. Thanks for posting.
Such a helpful video Michael, thank you very much. I love this fridge, I was worried I was not going to hear it roar in the middle of the night anymore lol I'm glad there is a simple solution for this, I hope it works for me too! Fingers crossed 🤞
Thank you for making the video Michael. We tried everything several times. Ended up attaching a metal straw to the vacuum cleaner and just a couple of short sucks and boom! Water!
Thanks for the comment. I have now found out what the problem really is and shall shortly be putting up a new video of the much simpler way I have found. Regards Michael
Glad it helped but I have now found an even better way. It appears that the problem is that the water freezes in the unit where the water flows into the tray. So what I do now is pour hot water (nearly boiling) over the unit then press the button and catch the hot water in a bowl. Repeat this until the water flows properly, usually 2-3 times. Regards Michael
Thank you!! Problem solved. My fridge now working again using this tutorial. It been "broken" for a week. Almost call LG technician to stop by. I am from Indonesia by the way.. thanks!
I am pleased you have ice again. Thanks for letting me know/ In the 1970's I visited your beautiful country several times on business. Great country and great people. Cheers from South Wales UK.
I was having the same issue and had tried defrosting the freezer, assuming that the water line was frozen. Thanks so much this makes a lot of sense now
Thanks for your comment Richard. I have discovered that the real fault is that the water freezers in the unit from where the water flows into the tray. Regards Michael
excellent video. thank you. i had my ice maker not working for 4 days and LG didn't get back to me. so i found your method and it worked. Thank you again.
@@michaelchartres yes it certainly worked. but unfortunately only once. after one lot of ice was made, it stopped again. and i had to repeat the reset process. hopefully now it's sorted.
Thank you in Melbourne. I was there in 1958/9 and met me 1st real girlfriend at the Trocadero Dance Hall (now gone). We used Fitzroy Gardens for much of our courting. She was a Nurse and I was a Cadet Officer on the NZS ship Rakaia. Memories. Cheers Michael
I have the. eact some fridge freezer with the same problem they wanted to send an engineered out at ₽195 to tell me what was wrong I told them no thank you I turned the electric off at the back unscrewed the bottom plate took out the pump undid all the small pipes they are push for made sure nothing was blocked put everything back got water coming through but no ice then I saw you brilliant video and now I have water and ice thank you very very much x
Thank you for your comment. We had an engineer out the first time and he couldn't fix it so I know the frustration. I'm pleased I helped. Cheers Michael
Thanks for your comment. Your channel name reminded me of something a fabric salesman once said "Never mind the quality, feel the width." Cheers Michael
Thanks for the video didn't have the same problem but did have a problem with the ice dispenser frozen over just know how to pull it a part has helped thanks 😊
Thank you so musch for your video and explanation sir Great love and best wisches from Cyprus Paphos its hot here i realy need my ice thanks. All the best my friend !!
Samething happened with myself. I worked out that with the dispenser motor, still running it had to be some sort of blockage but couldn't locate it. So, I was on an hour with lg and they said I needed an engineer but I knew it was something I could sort out. And all it took was to hold that button down. Take care Michael.
Thank you for this. It really helped but all I did was run the test cycle a few times and it now works. I'm not sure the rest of the procedure is needed. 🙂
Thanks for letting me know. If the ice in the pipes was not too cold you are right, the whole procedure is not necessary. You can even fix it by simply leaving the door open long enough but that is not such a good idea for the rest of the stuff in the freezer, cheers Michael
No Matthias I am not from Germany, I was born in Cardiff, Wales and live in South Wales now but many years ago I did spend some time working in Wuppertal. Thanks for your comment, Cheers Michael
