Thanks for the video. I don’t have this coffee maker but it helped me find the thermal fuse under the white sleeve. I have a oxx coffee box. I sent it there to fix. They told me $120 to replace the heating element. It was the thermal fuse.

I have been wondering for years but those little fuses are called. I've typed in everything I could into eBay but could never pull them up. Thanks to you I now know what to search for. I went to search for thermal cutoff fuse and the pictures look like exactly the same type of stuff I've seen in household fans and other items that have such fuses. This is good because now if I run into a fan that has a bad fuse I can replace it.... thank you so much.

I bought a black and decker coffee pot a few years ago, and never used it. When I took it out and tried it, it turned on, but didn't heat up. I saw there was no voltage between the fuses, but didn't know that's what they were. After watching this video, I wondered if heating the fuse slightly with a lighter would fix it. I have no idea why that would work, but thought I'd try it. I heated the non-working fuse for a few seconds with the lighter, and immediately, it had continuity. The coffee pot works now.

My best guess would be that perhaps the connection between the fuse and the wires on it weren't making proper contact, and heating it up melted it in such a way that contact was made.

We have a B&D coffee maker also.. it stopped working a couple days ago.. I will check mine to see if I have similar problem to yours. BTW.. I never knew B&D made coffee makers until we got this one --- now I guess I know why I never heard of them before ¯\_(ツ)_/¯... I won't be getting another B&D coffee maker.

@@lunaticprophet I had a B&D coffee maker (SpaceSaver) for over 20 years. It went a few years ago. I wished I knew this thermal fuse problem. Now, it's almost impossible to find quality items anymore.

Fot anyone looking, their called, thermal fuses, or thermal cut off fuse. If you search coffee pot fuse, you'll find them. I went over the machine with a multi, i came to the conclusion those went bad but wasn't sure what they were exactly, so thank you much for the video 👍

Ok i found this wright up, for the mr. Coffee cg-13, two 250 volt 192 degree over temperature limit fuses wired in series with the thermostat... Does that make since? The coffee pot is 120 volt.

Do you think the fuses could still be bad even though they have continuity?
@exercitus3
@exercitus3 6 лет назад
Yeah, I am also wondering that. I've tested thermofuse, thermostat and heating element and they all have continuity. Could it also be a bad logic board?

Charles T Hi in my case the fuses are hold by 3 little brass couplings two in the ends in one in the middle I just p/ them open or just cut them out and replace them for new ones you can use automotive electrical connectors just remove the plastic from them I hope this helps you.

If the fuse blows then you should absolutely not replace the fuse! The fuse opens because the temperature got too high which means your coffee maker has an issue. Throw it away and buy a new one. Look at the inside of the base of that coffee maker. It's burned! Don't replace the fuse.

I have a question... I have a cuisinart stainless style coffee maker and just made a half a pot of coffee. It’s never malfunctioned nor have I ever had any issues with it. I began to hear the coffee pot begin to crackle and then noticed the maker had turned off, yet the coffee began to boil so I immediately unplugged it and took the coffee pot off since the glass was increasing the crackle. Here’s what’s really odd... After it was off for about a minute...the hot plate began to heat up, to the point that it almost turned red- WITH IT BEING UNPLUGGED FOR ALMOST 10minutes already. It’s been almost a half hour and it sounds as if it’s trying to work again. WTH? They can boil and continue to work even if unplugged? Idk wth is going on.🤷🏻‍♀️ I can’t really find anything on google so I came over her here to find help! Any info will be appreciated! Thanks.

I think that coffeemaker should be thrown out! Especially given those cheap ones are only like $10 anyway. Maybe if it’s a more expensive one it’d be worth fixing? My cuisinart just got super hot so I’m guessing it’s time to chuck it too. I just asked someone on here about how it could boil the coffee, especially even after I unplugged it. Is that common? I am so baffled right now. I’ve never seen anything like this happen before. Could it be my electrical ya think?
