Bought mine on Amazon, but the connector 2:22 looks different than the one in amazon photos. The connectors in this video look more professional. Should I be worried? Hoping I got the right thing and didn't need the Diagnostics for Seagate DfS. (Drive label is missing, so not sure what model it is, but I'm certain it was a Barracuda that won't detect in bios or windows.)

Hi there, My seagate 3TB (sn w1f56ngd, model st3000dm001,PART - 1CH166-306,FW - CC29) is not detected in Bios, but diskmgmt detects as 3.86GB(not initialized), when I initialize it give msg like "Request could not be performed because of an I/O device error", No clock sound, feeling no motor rotation, for your information I have partitioned(MBR) it to 1024+1024GB then used extended capacity manager for remaining 746.52GB(146.47+100+500.05GB) I have given it to professionals to repair but they said that there is a physical damage and have to give to to physical data recovery If I give it to data recovery, can be it possible to recover data from 746.52GB virtual partitions ? Thank you for atching our video and for your intwrest comment. Your HDD propably has a serious firmware issue or a head damage. In order to repair firmware issues in this model you need our more advanced tool called DfS. You can find DfS in our eshop at www.computer-systems.gr . Since you were told that the drive has physical damage the chances that it needs head replacement are quite high. In that case you need to send it for data recovery. We can offer a head replacement service in our clean room and then to recover your data. For this model the cost is around 250-300euro. Please let us know if you need more info.
Hi there. I have received your package. I have followed the youtube videos and have done everything correctly. However, when i press TERMINAL on the software, nothing happens. My choice of architecture is Barracuda and F3 Barracuda.. Pressing TERMINAL for both does not work. So I used auto detect and it has been 10 minutes of checking and still nothing. I'm using windows 7 and installed the driver for 64 bit and my hard drive is Seagate Barracuda 2000gb ST2000DM001. Please help. Thank you.
Hello, Thank you for your message. In order to make sure that the issue is not related to OS limitations please follow these steps: 1. Restart the computer and then press F8. Choose the last option stating “disable signature enforcement” 2. Turn antivirus software off 3. run drivers and then software by right clicking on them and choose “run as administrator” For your drive you might also have to follow the instructions that you can read on page 3 of the manual "PCB shortening" Please let us know if these steps solved the issue. When I do the Test Terminal phase before the spin down the program can't detect the port connected to the USB to TTL serial adapter. When I place the adapter in another USB port, that port disappears from the list instead and the old empty port shows up. I ran it on Windows XP and my hard drive is a 7200.11. I also tried running it on Windows 10, without antivirus or secure boot, in compatibility mode and as administrator (I know, not supported) and with the exact same results. Do you have any idea why this could be?
CS Diagnostics for ST USB Adapter (COM3) is still shows yellow even though I have successfully installed the 64 bit driver from drivers folder in my Windows 7 64 bit PC, I can't establish Terminal connection through the provided software either by auto-detect or clicking on Terminal button, only the cursor blinks in Terminal box nothing happen, my hard drive start running for few seconds then stops no moment, I can't get terminal connection going, I checked the wire connection they all seems OK, please advise. Hi, I ordered and received your kit in excellent condition. Need help with problems: 1- When I first used it, Terminal checking succeed. But next step, Spin Down failed. Code: LED 000000CE FAddr:00280569 2- I tried again, but this time, cannot get past Terminal checking: COMM did not show up I check the port in Device Manager: It say the Prolific USB cannot start (Code 10). I tried update driver (from the provided mini DVD), re-plug, restart my PC several times, and got the same result (Code 10). 3- My Seagate emit a rhytmic "beep-beep" when the power is turn on. Can you please help? I'm using PC with Win 10, x64.

Please try to do the proccess again and take special notice when you remove the HDA mask. Also make sure that the screws are screwed well. Usually these screws can get damaged easily. If all these failed then please try to do the process on another computer with windows 7 32bit or XP. Please let us know if your problem is solved.
I'm thinking of buying this kit because I believe the reason my Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3250310NS suddenly isn't recognized is because of the firmware issue. But I have one question. There is a guy who fixed a ton of these Seagate HDDs with the other method of Nokia cable and HyperTerminal, but they're all the ones which model number ends in AS and not NS. The one time he tried to fix an NS Seagate HDD, the electronics burned out and the disc became totally unusable. He says there's a difference when it comes to electronics and firmware between AS and NS. So I'm just wondering if this kit has been really tested with all the models (including my Barracuda ES.2 ST3250310NS which is listed as being supported on your eBay page) and that no such problem will happen because I really don't want to destroy anything or make anything explode. :)
Thank you for your interest in our products. Your conerns are correct. You can't repair your HDD with a Nokia xable because it's output voltage is different. Also FW FXR is designed for Barracuda 7200.11 series HDDs so it can't repair your drive. However FW FXR is a data recovery tool and not a nokua cable so even if used on a wrong drive it will not cause damage. On Ebay you obviously found our DfS tool kit here www.ebay.com/itm/391295790575 DfS has a microcontroler that automatically adjusts voltage so it can work with all SATA Seagate HDDs. You can found instructions about how to repair your drive inside DfS manual. DfS is the only tool that can repair drives like yours for a reasonable cost and without requiring technical knowledge.
Hey there, currently stuck on step 14: Port is chosen correctly (confirmed by Windows DevManager), though the software is not giving any other response than "Testing Terminal...." for an infinite amount of time, also not showing any errors when selecting a wrong port. SpinDown/Up won't show any response either. Is this a problem with the software or could it be a malfunction with the provided USB-cable? Hey again, Unfortunately, these steps didn’t help with my problem. I’ve tried the fix on a different system aswell, with no change in the problem either. (both computers run on Windows 7) I’m guessing the problem lays in some kind of mechanical damage of the hard drive, as I’m hearing quite significant sounds of scraping whenever it starts up. (no clicking or beeping sounds though) It just seems weird that the software won’t spit out any error codes, even when selecting wrong ports or pressing Spin Down/Up at inconvenient times. Either way, I guess we’ll have to find a different solution for the drive. Thanks for all the advice though

+Dragan Starovlah Yes in order to avoid having the same issue again you should upgrade the firmware to latest version. However you should backup your important files first.
Re: Earlier question, I retry with a win 7 Pro X64 PC. Terminal testing is OK, but spin down fail. I repeat the procedure 3 times (after restart), as an administrator. I made sure that the mask in in the correct position before repeating the procedure. Funny that after a failed spin down, when I try to test the terminal again, it failed. I have to restart the PC, then terminal testing is OK again. Any suggestions?

At this point you can send us your drive for data recovery. If the issue is firmware related then you will only have to cover postage cost. If it has another issue we will offer a recovery quote. Hello, Thank you for the info. It seems that your HDD has more serious problem than the common firware issue. Maybe the heads are about to fail or the PCB is damaged. Addendum: (to my question earlier) I re-install the x64 USB driver provided in the mini-DVD with the USB fixer plugged-in, and the Device manager recognize the port where the USB was plugged. Terminal checking was successful. I then did the spin down and got "Spin down fail" (again). so I restart the PC, and this time, event though the Comm port is present, Terminal checking fail. Help.
Thank you for the info. FW-FXR is fully compatible with your HDD and also your HDD gives very common firmware issue. The problem is propably related to your OS. Is it possible to try to use FW-FXR on another computer with Windows XP or 7 installed? You should run the software as administrator. If not please let us know which is your OS.
