How to Fix Flickering Freesync on LG 34" 34UM61 Monitor (FLICKERING SCREEN)

If you accidentally set the FREESYNC to "ON" on your LG 34" 34UM61 monitor, then the screen will indefinitely flicker and you cannot remove the flickering. You think you can turn FREESYNC to OFF using the monitor menu button but the menu is greyed out and you cannot go to the FREESYNC setting.
Solution to remove the flickering due to FREESYNC being ON, you have to set FREESYNC to OFF using the LG On Screen Control software on Windows or Mac which you have to download onto your computer. Then go to Gaming Mode tab and you can set the FREESYNC back to OFF which will stop the flickering on the monitor.

This did not actually fix it, but did lead me to the solution that worked for me. I adjusted the "Black Stabilizer" setting to 55 as running it at 50 made it flicker for some unknown reason. This setting is in the same area the the FREESYNC setting is found. Odd thing is that I have had it set to 50 for many weeks and just today the issue started.

main fix = go to NVidia control panel and look for the "set G-Sync " tab, at the bottom you see "enable settings for the selected display model" un select that. if this not helps try flipping the DP cable ends around but this is only temporary i think, good luck all.

wow this video is 6 years ago. I just had this problem here in April of 2024. It did this to me last night. I pushed the power button, rebooted it , well started it again.. same problem. mine happened after I just plugged in a pc cam into a USB Hub. crazy. not sure why that caused this. but I stared pushing a button on the bottom of the monitor like you did. after awhile.. it stopped. then I could go on as normal. but I am going to get this software. thanks so much!

Don't have Freesync option, however turning on "HDMI compatibility" in the General Settings seemed to work for me....

I still had issues messing with the colours. I may have found the solution! This is for a 27UD58-B so it may not work for you, but here goes. On your LG Display: Go to: - Menu - Picture - Picture Adjust - HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color - OFF

So basically you can't get it to stop flickering indefinitely. Im using an XSX on an LG monitor and it flickers intermittently. Very annoying. But on xbox one X, it doesn't flicker. Weird I guess.

This may have solved the issue for you, but isn't FREESYNC a selling point of this monitor? Like the extra Hz does make a slight difference in games. It's mostly a software bug from LG ig.

"Accidentally"? Are you kidding? Anyone who has the ability to run Freesync wants to do it in games. It's a huge feature of the monitor, not something you turn on "accidentally". "Turn it off" is not a solution or a fix. Sure, it turns off the flickering, but now you don't get smooth graphics in games.

I tried this, looked promising but my monitor doesnt seem to have freesync. Its mostly black but then it blinks for a second. It started going black a long time ago but it would start working again randomly, then it went to the black but blinking stage. I bought a new screen and stored the broken one in the hopes of being able to fix it in the future. When I went to take it out of storage I saw that it had fallen apart, the stand had broken off at the joint by just standing there. Lg is the worst shit ever, Im throwing this in the garbage and never buying Lg again.
