Why Is My TV Turning On and Off By Itself?
Power Supply Problems
A little bit of investigating may help you figure out what causes your LG TV to turn on and off by itself. First, check the power supply. Is the cord securely plugged into the wall? A loose connection can cause your TV to turn off unexpectedly, and so can an aging power supply cord. If you notice frayed wires or damage to your TV’s power cord, it’s time to shop for a new TV to prevent further issues and potential electrical hazards.

My tv has lost many back light caps . So I can see the white high brightness spots on it. And it suddenly started shuting down. So I reduced brightness and all . Now it's switching on. Thanks for so nice tip

hello i own an lg oled tv model E8 55 inch that turn off every 3 or 5 minutes when i watch 4k files on it , if i turn down the video settings to 40 the tv work fine for a long time but my doubt is if the problem is in the main board or in other part because i already change the main board and the tcon and the tv continue turning off , so there is any form to avoid the shut down protection

My problem is when I turn on the tv, it starts functioning itself. I am not able to control from the remote. It functions like a button is pressed. For eg. It goes down and down to the end and then stops. I am not getting where the problem is.

my tv shuts off soon as a turn it on. and takes a while to cool. once its cool it will stay on alittle longer but after a minute it shuts off on its own. what do you think it could be?

I got an LG TV and sometimes, few times in a year my TV when is close already just it opens from itself just like that in the middle of night with a higher volum tone. I have to close it manualy all the time and still have no idea why the tv is geting on by itself automaticly on a radio station chanel. Any sugestions or help about this situation?

Hi fariz ascariz, We have understand your problem. As our experience all smart TV brand have the same complaint. No on has 💯 percent accuracy. However you can minimize the problem by following methods: 1. Unplug the power cable of tv from wall and same method apply for router. This action apply minimum one time in each day. My LG UHD TV w/ webOS real 4K IPS, does not shut off; when I connected a 4K fire stick to the LG TV, it begin to turn on by itself; now, I make sure that the Roku & fire stick is not running but on home screen; then, I go to settings and select screen off on LG TV; most of the times; it will remain off; but sometimes, it will turn back on by itself even when fire stick is disconnected from TV; help; is their anything in settings?

i have same tv. it turn off the screen by itself after few minutes (not shutdown) because the red light not showing and when i press the back key on remote, the screen on again shown the same app i open. hate this. i bought this just 3 months.

So I’ve found a temporary solution. I pretty much run everything off of my Xbox series s (yes I know the tv has apps but my problem is when I turn my tv on and I don’t hit the home button that brings up all the apps . My tv will shut off and on continuously until I actually turn it off either from the tv or the remote ) So as soon as I turn my tv on I hit the home button and I click on Netflix,I let it boot up . Then I turn my Xbox on . From there on in I hit the home bottom again and choose input 1 witch is the input my Xbox is running off of . And that’s it my tv will stay on the whole time . Granted I have to repeat the process every time I use the tv . But that seems to help . Gunna get it fixed but I just don’t have the time right now . But I hope this helps anyone having a similar issue .

it seems that after time the video chip gets very hot when working on or near 100% settings on brightness ,colour, contrast etc , reducing those levels fixed my problem of going off and on continuously after about 15 mins ,I also made a large ventilation hole near the large micro chip.

We had a few LG tv's. And they Simply SUCK they've both had issues. And eventually it just wasn't worth fixing when you can buy a new Samsung 55" for under $400 bucks. Save your money and the headaches and never by and LG item again.

Check the Main Board/Mother Board. Take you time make sure everything is tight and secure and plug it up while it’s open and test it. Last resort bake you main board for 20 minutes on 300 degrees and let it cool and replace it. Your Welcome

Hello vai,,, hamara LG ka old box model hain and problem ye hain ki tv chalane ke baad kuch der chalta hain isske baad automatically display off ho jati hain and indicator red light jada glow karne lagta hain and tv ka hin volume and channel change ke 4 switch main se akk ko press korne ke badd display aa jata hain and kuch derr baad firse off ho jata hain ...... Isska solution keya hain or kiyo asaa ho raha hain?

What if my tv turns off and on continuously/rapidly..1-2 seconds off,on,off,on ? I've tried unplugging and waiting overnight before plugging back in. Once i plugged it back in it immediately repeated the on,off clicking.

Why the hell should I have to do all of these bs tests or add all of this makeshift bs to get my TV to stay on after spending $4,000 plus for a new LG old "77 & had best buy swap it out for the 2nd time yesterday & the same crap happens it shuts off every 10-15 mins like clockwork. I’ve been having an issue with tv auto shutting down after about 4 hours I’ve tried the obvious solutions But I’ve just discovered by accident the “Auto power off” option - I was previously looking under All settings Settings > OLED care > Device self care > Energy Saving - has three options 1. Energy saving step - press OFF 2. Auto Power Off - press OFF 3. Screen off

Screen turns black and it reboots after 5 secs or so, without seeing the lg logo coming up and i have a C1. And the auto off and energysaving is off. And also the timer is off aswell so it doesnt shut off then. And my tv still turns off randomly. The place i bought it from already tested it in their labo to. But they dont see it there. First day today that i have it back and it already happend again. Do you maybe know whats the issue?
