How to Fix Silverado Front End Alignment Issues with Dirt King Cams

One of the worst things about the 1999-2018 Chevrolet Silverado Suspension is the crappy mechanism that align the front end's camber/caster, which is prone to several problems like getting loose and being prone to losing alignment under load. This method also works with Duramax Silverados, Hummer H2, Cadillac Escalades, GMC Sierras and Yukons, etc.
Dirt King Fabrication offers a way to fix this. They make a set of locking alignment cams that won't let the front end move and ruin the alignment, even if the bolts get loose.
In this video I show how to install them while keeping the alignment of the truck, because I'm not sure most shops would be able to figure out how to perform the alignment afterwards.
This works for the 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 and 2018 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado. Retards at GM seemed to have fixed this for the new 2019+ models
The 1999-2018 Silverado/Sierras seem to be the only trucks with this kind of flawed design alignment mechanism, while most other trucks use other types of alignment cams.
Dirt King does not sponsor me, but I am quite happy that they sell this kit to help solve the problem:

Be sure to align the truck perferctly with the old keys and mark where they sit, so you install the new ones in the same position, That way you wont lose the alignment. Also be careful with the fricking pins (the ones that fall in the video) I personally like my truck -2 deg camber, +5 deg caster and a bit of open toe

Thanks for the video very helpful . I just bought a brand new Silverado 2019 about 2 mouths ago , already went for alignment service . Also when driving an uneven or rough surface the truck vibrates (is annoying) the shock takes the impact but after that come with a vibration, I can feel it front and rear tires to the Point that moves the whole truck . Do you think is related to your problem or has to do with the suspension . Thanks

This seems like a nice solution to overly frequent alignments for future reference. However, currently I have one pin missing, and I wasn’t able to do an alignment today. If I replace the pins, can it be done without removing the upper control arm and tire? It seems like the pin would just snap back in, assuming I have the proper leverage to do so.

Where can I get these places 😮
@Leon-Servant-of-Christ

Actually, it Is repairable by just popping it back in and hitting the tip of the edge with a punch. The pins have a ledge on them to hold them in place.. Or you can just weld them in like I did and be done with the hassle. If you wanted to make it easy on yourself, you should have removed the strut..
@BadAssEngineering

Yup everything is repairable with zip ties, wd40, duct tape and a welder 👀

@BadAssEngineering

This kit is just to ensure that the alignment stays in place, because it tends to get knocked off position. If you take your truck to an alignment shop and they can't get it to align to spec, the problem is the drop kit, which would have a wrong geometry. Tire/Wheel size is not important.
@osvaldo0593

BadAssEngineering Ight thank you ,a guy that drops trucks told me I could fix it with custom control arms from Djm Suspension but I wanted to know if I could fix it with this
@BadAssEngineering
@BadAssEngineering 4 года назад
@@osvaldo0593 You can use those parts to correct the Camber/Caster of the suspension, and the Dirt King kit to secure them, but the Dirt King Kit won't correct for suspension geometry

Osvaldo Cereceres you can also get some plate cams like these but with 2 degrees more of adjustment... belltech sells them... if you need more adjustment, moog suspension parts sell an upper control arm that has offset bushings already pressed in with another 2 degrees extra for adjustment... they’re way cheaper than djm and are already pressed in for direct swap... part # rk80669 I believe

I've had 6 Alignments done in the past 4 months and the steering wheel is still crooked to the right and pulls Left when I drive or brake. I think I have stock pins on my BDS Lift on 2014 Duramax. Seems like no Mechanic can fix my problem

@@BadAssEngineering My truck is a 2500 HD series but I've been reading that these trucks are notorious for a crooked steering wheel after a Lift. I see other videos of people fixing it with aftermarket Upper Control Arms, my alignment are in spec with BDS recommendations which also happens to be the same specs as stock.

These are only for off road purpose!!!! you so will not get the desired numbers for alignment.... the bolts aren't slotted like standard. So when you need to change your caster and Camber need to Jack the truck up take pressure off of the upper control arm loosen the bolt completely and then move the shim where you need it it's a pain in the ass but this is for off-road purposes only
@BadAssEngineering
@BadAssEngineering 3 года назад
Once you align with a set of good UCAs, if you change them it doesn't affect the alignment. Unless you crash and bend the mounting points for the suspension, you don't ever need to reAdjust the cams.
