How to Fix The Recovery Server Could not be Contacted on Mac 

I had to go through this process several times until it loaded the new os (Monterey) - hope this helps

i followed your instructions and got the globe spinning and loading bar. after the loading bar finished downloading it took me back to the dist utility page(the one with the option to reinstall the macOs) I tried to reinstall the macOS again but got the same error message(the server couldn not be found)

This works for me too , the problem was my macbook was on ventura and after reset it was trying to install high sierra, which was the problem , and this solution worked

Thank you Ian for the helpful video. Although it didn’t address the issue I was having it led me to the comment above. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro running Monterey and the default recovery was trying to install High Sierra which doesn’t work. Using Option + Command + R brought up Monterey installation.

I also been trying this but nothing. Surely date is right and internet is working. I hve a macbook pro late 2011. But sonething just come up. The os that appears is high sierra n i'm sure thats not the OS that come originally with this pc. Someone please help me

Both step doesn't work for me..try the original macos but it pop up cannot download other components for mac os x lion. Any idea how to fix it. I need to sell this mac to a buyer soon

not sound stupid but how do you get back to the menu where you can install macOS mine wont let me go back. it disappeared

MacBook Pro 13 2017. Thanks to the commentators who explained that High Sierra is no longer supported and therefore a server error. Like everyone! =)

@@faizulizwan8200 Friend, there is no way to fix it other than writing the image of High Sierra to a USB flash drive using the Apple instructions I didn’t install High Sierra since it can’t be gotten from a MacBook using the standard method, so I made myself a USB flash drive with Big Sur Searched on Google as "Create a bootable installer for macOS" Good luck There are also standard methods for reinstalling another system suitable for your Mac: Command-R. When you press and hold these two keys at startup, macOS Recovery Mode will prompt you to install the current version of the last installed macOS operating system. Option-Command-R. When you press and hold these three keys at startup, macOS Recovery Mode may prompt you to install the latest version of the macOS operating system that is compatible with your Mac. Shift-Option-Command-R. When you press and hold these four keys at startup, macOS Recovery Mode may prompt you to install the macOS operating system that came with your Mac or the closest available version.

I did that and resolve sound and wifi issue by installing Valor lite script.

@@vt8313 oh is that so.. I would try that then, But something kinda make me off, When i looked at the desktop wallpaper it somehow look it had a glow effect or something, Maybe I am tripping, But not sure. Any idea?

@@deepaknanda1113 Alright so idk if its for everyone but heres what I did. I contacted apple support from there website or just look up apple/support and then navigate to speak to a live agent/ worker. Then after you get in contact with them via the chat tell them exactly whats happening (for example: Grey file with blinking question mark) or whatever is on your computer after resetting. I waited a while before trying to reset my computer again but when I did it was updated to the latest install version. Im not sure if the agent over at apple was to give credit for this. But once they walk you step by step thru the reset proccess you should be able to install with no problems in factory mode. Let me know if you have any questions about how I fixed my computer. (Ik its alot sorry)

it is more helpful than the wifi and date stuff but it still offers me only sierra 😭 i really dont know what to do. i really tried everything. even via browser it says „not enough storage“ while its completely free. it makes me so angry
